There's only one thing left to lose.

The Last American Virgin is a 1982 American sex comedy film written and directed by Boaz Davidson. It is a remake of Davidson's 1978 Israeli film Eskimo Limon (Lemon Popsicle); it shouldn't be surprising that this film and the original were products of The Cannon Group.

The story follows nice guy Gary (Lawrence Monoson) and his friends, ladies' man Rick and David in their quest to get laid. Things go awry when Gary falls for new girl Karen... only for her to fall for Rick.

This film has the following tropes:

  • Genre Shift: The film starts as a 1980’s Porky's-esq high school T&A picture, then a little over half through becomes a drama.
  • Good Girls Avoid Abortion: Averted. Smooth Operator Rick gets titular good-girl Karen pregnant then dumps her. Protagonist Gary sells his stereo and takes heat from Nurse Rached to get Karen an abortion, and that's all that's heard regarding pregnancy and procedure. This film is based on the Israeli film Eskimo Limon which features the same pregnancy-abortion plot point. Although the ending shows that the 'good' part is rather debatable.
  • Hard Truth Aesop: Sometimes you just won't end up with the person you like no matter how much you care for them.
    • Some people would rather date a person who treats them badly and won't have romantic feelings for you no matter how much you might do for them.
    • Tying into the second one, be careful how much you do for a person because they may not appreciate it and as mention, it doesn't mean they will fall in love with you because you can't buy love.
  • Love Triangle: Gary and Rick vie for Karen's affections. Rick ultimately wins.
  • Mood Whiplash: The film starts off as a teen comedy with situations on par with American Pie. In the last third of the movie, the main character's best friend gets a girl pregnant and breaks up with her over the news. The main gets into a fight with his former best friend over this, and because the girl is his love interest, he helps her "take care" of the baby over Spring Break at great expense to him. The movie ends with a party after Spring Break where the main character sees his old friends after staying behind for the vacation. He walks into the party and sees his former best friend got back together with the girl even after everything that happened.
  • Stalking is Love: Gary stalks Karen by leering at her at the ice cream parlor, by letting the air out of her bike's tires so he can give her a ride to school, following her around and watching her have sex with Rick.
  • Sudden Downer Ending: Minutes after a tender kiss that looked like a sealing one, it turns out that not only the protagonist Did Not Get the Girl — she also willingly chose her abuser over him.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Boy, is it ever... In most movies like this you would expect Gary to end up with Karen after everything that happened with Rick right? Nope even after Gary pays for her abortion and takes care of her, she still ends up going back to Rick. The guy doesn't always end up with the girl and just because Gary truly cares for Karen and might treat her better then Rick, doesn't mean she will fall in love for him
