Palm Trees in the Snow (Palmeras en la nieve) is a 2015 Spanish romantic drama film, based on the book by the same name, written by Luz Gabás.
Shortly after her father's death, Clarence uncovers a letter with a hint about her family's past life in Fernando Pó (presently Bioko), an island off the coast of Cameroon, where they used to raise cocoa.
Determined to find out the mystery of family's past, Clarence travels to the island and manages to discover more than she ever thought that she would.
The film alternates between Clarence (Adriana Ugarte) in present-day and her uncle Killian (Celso Bugallo) back in 1954, struggling to get adapted to island life, while also finding himself falling for Bisila (Berta Vazquez), in the midst of Spanish Guinea fighting for their independence.
Currently available on Netflix in variety of languages both dubbed and subbed.
