One Shot is a 2021 action thriller film starring Scott Adkins.

Jake Harris is a Navy SEAL who has been assigned to escort Amin Mansur, a prisoner from a CIA black site, in order to prevent a possible terrorist attack on Washington, D.C. However, the plan goes awry when terrorists attack the island, and now Harris must fight his way out of the island while trying to keep Mansur alive.

Not to be mistaken by the game of the same name.

Tropes:

  • Big Bad: Hakim Charef is the leader of the terrorists attacking the base.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Mansur is caught by Dehlkor while trying to escape on his own and imprisoned, but before he could kill him, Harris bursts into the room and kills Dehlkor after a brutal fight.
  • Book Ends: The film begins and ends with Harris in a helicopter.
  • Boom, Headshot!: Harris kills Dehlkor this way.
  • The Cavalry Arrives Late: The air support the SEALs call in doesn't arrive until Harris has already killed Hakim, Dehlkor, and most of their men.
  • "Die Hard" on an X: Die Hard on a prison island.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The film is shot like one continuous shot, but the heroes also only have one shot to get out alive.
  • The Dragon: Dehlkor, Hakim's physically imposing lieutenant.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: Mansur attempts to escape in the chaos by putting on a dead mercenary's clothes over his prison jumpsuit.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: After the Suicide Attack, Zoe is killed after being impaled by a piece of debris, but not before telling Harris crucial information about Mansur's family.
  • Live-Action Escort Mission: The goal of the movie is for Harris to get Mansur off the island before the terrorists get to him.
  • No Ending: After defeating Hakim and the rest of the terrorists, Harris succeeds in talking Mansur down and convinces him that his wife is still alive and pregnant with his child, and that she's present in the blast zone. Then helicopters arrive on the island, and Harris and Mansur fly off to D.C. to stop the bomb. Roll credits.
  • Red Shirt Army: The soldiers and PMCs stationed at the blacksite are rather easily overrun by Hakim's men.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Ash, one of Harris' fellow SEALs, gets shot in the opening gunfight and dies shortly thereafter to show that even the highly trained SEALs are in over their heads.
  • Save This Person, Save the World: Harris must save Mansur so he can reveal the location of the terrorist bombing.
  • Slashed Throat: After a long and brutal fistfight, Harris finishes off Hakim by stabbing him in the throat with his own knife.
  • Spotting the Thread: While Dressing as the Enemy, Mansur walks by Dehlkor who notices he's the only mercenary not carrying a gun.
  • Suicide Attack: In order to break through the barrier Harris and his men have set up, Hakim equips one of his men with a suicide vest and has him brought up to the barrier before detonating, resulting in the destruction of the barrier and Zoe's death.
  • The Oner: True to the title, the entire movie is done in one take.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Mansur constantly tries to escape from the island on his own without Harris's help. It results in him getting captured by the terrorists.
