A 2017 American Comedy directed by Ken Marino and starring Eugenio Derbez.

Maximo comes from humble beginnings but longs for a life of wealth and leisure. He finally hits the jackpot when he seduces Peggy, a millionaire twice his age, and marries her to become her gigolo. Decades later, Maximo has become spoiled and complacent, knowing that Peggy will see to his every need. However, the money train suddenly comes to a halt when Peggy falls for another, younger man and leaves Maximo to fend for himself. With nothing to his name, Maximo turns to his estranged sister and nephew for help and has to rebuild his broken familial relationships while also hunting for a new sugar mama.

The movie also stars Salma Hayek, Raphael Alejandro, Rob Lowe, Kristen Bell, Raquel Welch, Linda Lavin, Renee Taylor, Rob Riggle, Rob Huebel, Rob Corddry, Mckenna Grace, Mather Zickel, Michaela Watkins, Michael Cera, and Ben Schwartz.

The film was remade into How To Be A French Lover in 2019. It also inspired the show Acapulco, where Derbez and Alejandro play similar roles.

It was released on April 28, 2017.

Tropes for the film:

  • Age-Gap Romance: Maximo and Rick have survived for years by being the boy toys of women decades older than they are.
  • An Arm and a Leg: When their climactic squabble turns violent, Maximo and Rick accidentally discover that Celeste lost her arms and uses prosthetics.
  • As Himself: "Weird Al" Yankovic makes an appearance.
  • Crazy Cat Lady: Cindy, who talks endlessly about her many cats and sports nasty scratches and bites because they don't love her like she loves them.
  • Falling into the Cockpit: Parodied. Maximo doesn't have any pilot training but flies a helicopter anyway, telling Hugo that all rich people just naturally know how to fly helicopters. Then he falls into a dive, showing that the statement isn't exactly true.
  • Idle Rich: Maximo became an idle layabout thanks to Peggy's wealth. When she kicks him out, he goes to great lengths to try and land another rich woman so he can continue doing nothing while living in luxury.
  • I'm Okay!: Maximo's father is a trucker who has been driving all night to get back home. He starts nodding off as he approaches and drives straight through the house. After the truck comes to rest, he shouts out "I'm OK!" Then it explodes.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Maximo was a strapping young man who turned every woman's eye when he stripped out of his clothing. In the present day, he's not bad looking, but a life of idle luxury means he's a bit fleshy and saggy.
  • Latin Lover: Name dropped, which Maximo is a washed-up Gold Digger trying to get back on his game.
  • Tagline: "The seduction begins April 28".
  • Time-Shifted Actor:
    • Noel Carabaza plays a young Maximo and Vadhir Derbez plays a 21-year-old Maximo.
    • Manelly Zepeda plays a young Sarah.
