Includes examples of

  • Ambiguous Syntax: After Ernest is ordered to get rid of the candy he's eating, he does so by eating it all at once. Then he's ordered to also get rid of the box - which Ernest does by eating that.
  • Big Bad: President Almar Habib Tufuti, the golf-loving dictator of Aziria.
  • Call-Back: This film marks the only time in an Ernest movie where an event from a past film is mentioned, when Ernest tells Ben that he was once a camp counselor.
  • The Chosen One: Ernest fulfills a prophecy of a great American liberator.
  • Creator Cameo: Sergent Ben is played by John Cherry, who wrote, directed, and created the Ernest films.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: Ernest has a crush on a news reporter. At the end, he seems to get her, but then She kisses him and the skin on his lips peels off, disgusting her.
  • Mildly Military: The United States Army Reserve is portrayed as more of an Army LARP than a real military force. Ben even says it's not the real Army at one point.
  • Nebulous Evil Organisation: The F.I.T., Financial International Terrorism, which is a SPECTRE-like organization that appears to be using Tufuti for their plans.
  • One-Steve Limit: Ben is the name of Ernest's buddy in the army as well as a child he later befriends.
  • Only a Flesh Wound: After getting injured at the beginning, Ernest tells Ben it's only a flesh wound.
  • Qurac: The movie revolves around a war between the fictional Persian Gulf countries of Arizia and Karifistan.
  • The Reveal: At one point, it is revealed that the narrator is actually a war prisoner.
  • Shout-Out: At one point, Ernest, Ben, and another member of the army spell out "army people" to the tune of The Mickey Mouse Club theme (but screw it up by spelling it "P-O-P-L-E").
