Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs is a 2015 action-thriller modern B-Movie that beckons comparison to classics such as Sharknado or Zombeavers.

Imagine digging in a mine when all of a sudden, raptors with petroleum in their veins come out from the depths and begin slaughtering your whole crew. This is exactly what happens in a small, rural Montana town, and while the mining company tries keeping the incident quiet, citizens begin having to deal with the real consequences of attacks from creatures thought to be extinct for millions of years. Eventually, things spiral so far out of control that only the gun slingin' heroes of the town can restore the status quo.

This movie features Rib Hillis, Casey Fitzgerald, John Freeman, and Eric Roberts in a supporting role for some reason. The paycheck perhaps?

Cowboys vs. Dinosaurs provides examples of:

  • The Alcoholic: Val's dad, Trent.
  • Black Dude Dies First: Averted with Quaid, who outlives a good majority of the cast. He ends up being the last one to die.
  • Cool vs. Awesome: I mean, come on, it's dinosaurs! Fighting cowboys!
  • Covers Always Lie: No one ever rides the T-Rex. Val, however, does jump on top of a triceratops at one point.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • After Sky calls Henry and informs him about Val showing up at her diner, he comes down and threatens him with a gun because he believes it's genuinely the right thing to do.
    • Val ends up in a cell next to his father, who throws up in a bucket for the entire scene.
  • Made of Explodium: As mentioned above, the dinosaurs have petroleum in their veins, which makes blowing them up the most effective way of taking them out.
  • Male Gaze: The camera lingers on Sky and her friend's butts in their Walking Swimsuit Scene by the lake.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Sky and Dr. Sinclair both fall into this, the latter spending most of her screen time in tight clothes with an apparent Cleavage Window.
  • No Ending: After blowing up the T-Rex along with presumably the last of the dinosaurs, Val and Sky finally hookup. Then a pterodactyl flies above them and they look at it. No last one liner or anything, the movie just ends there.
  • Romantic False Lead: Henry is this for Sky, as she and Val are clearly set up to end in each other's arms.
  • Sex Signals Death: A couple strip down in the bedroom with the intention of sex, but they're both killed by a raptor before anything comes out of it.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: Between Val and Sky. They do end up together.
  • Versus Title: In case you couldn't tell...
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: Sky and her three friends get one of these towards the beginning of the movie.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: The two blondes and the one girl's boyfriend who die at the lake.
