Claw is a Dinosaur Comedy Horror Movie by Gerald Rascionato.
Julia (Chynna Walker) is a comedienne on her way to a show where a network executive will be, with her friend Kyle (Richard Rennie) driving her there through the desert. On the way, Kyle swerves to avoid an animal on the road and ends up blowing a tire. Luckily, they spotted an advertisement for a Ghost Town museum not long ago, and decide to go there. The owner, Ray Thompson (Mel Mede), allows them to stay the night, telling them his brother Joseph will be back in the morning from a ride in town.
What none of them know, however, is that in the area, a scientist (Ken Mertz) has managed to create a real, living, breathing raptor that he's been keeping. Only... the raptor kind of escaped containment. So of course, it ends up where the protagonists are and has them fighting for their survival.
The movie was released on May 22nd, 2021.
Claw contains examples of:
- Asshole Victim: The scientist. He shot Julia with a tranquilizer dart when she tried to run away, and was quite rude to the clerk at the convenience store he stopped at. He is then killed by his own raptor.
- Catapult Nightmare: Julia has one about a T-Rex crashing her comedy club performance and eating Kyle.
- Cat Scare: At one point, a light comes on and scares Julia and Kyle, because it ends up casting a shadow that looks like the raptor. They manage to gather the courage to look around the corner at the source... and see it's a statue of a donkey.
- Cellphones Are Useless: When Julia and Kyle try to get a signal in the desert after blowing a tire, they get zero bars on their cell phones.
- Chekhov's Gun: In Ray's house, Julia and Kyle find a squeaky dog toy on the floor. In the middle of the movie, they use it to try to lure Mr. Bonejangles back to the safety of the house. Unfortunately, the raptor attacks Mr. Bonejangles.
- Cruel Twist Ending: Julia and Kyle survived their ordeal with the raptor, but Julia is shown to be shell-shocked by the experience, even what may be a year after it happened. Kyle assures her the raptor was caught, and that the scientist couldn't possibly have made more. Then a T-Rex appears outside their window.
- Deer in the Headlights: Kyle's reaction to the massive T-Rex that bursts through the wall behind Julia at the comedy club.
- Eaten Alive: Kyle gets eaten by a T-Rex in Julia's nightmare.
- Ghost Town: Golden Cactus is a ghost town tourist attraction run by Ray.
- I Just Want to Have Friends: When Julia and Kyle learn that Ray's brother's been dead since 2019, Ray admitted he made them stay the night because he's really lonely since his brother's death.
- In the Back: The scientist shoots Julia in the back with a second tranquilizer dart, which is what finally brings her down.
- One-Word Title: Claw, naturally.
- Raptor Attack: Naturally, the threat in this movie is a black raptor.
- Time Skip: After Julia and Kyle survive their ordeal with the raptor, the movie jumps ahead one year to show Julia being introduced at a comedy club.
