Cool Cat vs Dirty Dog: The Virus Wars is a 2023 film directed by Derek Savage.

A direct sequel to Cool Cat Fights Coronavirus (which is used as the first act), the film follows Cool Cat's journey to stop Dirty Dog from spreading his new virus, the Dirty Dog Virus, while learning home repairs with Daddy Derek.

The film was first announced in 2022, receiving $1,520 in funding on Kickstarter. It was later released on Vimeo at the end of 2023, followed by a DVD release.

Cool Cat loves these tropes!

  • A Dog Named "Dog": Beaver, Dirty Dog's henchman and prisoner, is a beaver.
  • As Himself: Lieutenant Colonel Art Nalls makes an appearance.
  • The Bus Came Back: Momma Cat makes her first appearance since Cool Cat Saves the Kids.
  • Chekhov's Gun: At one point, Dirty Dog accidentally kills some of his virus balls with his farts. During the climax, Cool Cat causes Dirty Dog to fart to destroy the virus.
  • Cool Old Guy: Art Nalls is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who owns a Harrier Jet.
  • Cool Plane: A Harrier Jet owned by Colonel Nalls, which is used in the climax.
  • Covers Always Lie: Three Harrier Jets are shown on the cover, when only one is shown in the film.
  • The Faceless: Mike the house buyer's face is never shown: he is only seen from the side or from behind.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: A subplot involves Cool Cat and Daddy Derek flipping a house, completely unrelated to the Dirty Dog quest. This is actually footage from the unreleased Cool Cat Flips a House.
  • Hong Kong Dub:
    • The news anchor is poorly dubbed with a text-to-speech voice during the scene where he reports on the Dirty Dog Virus.
    • Many of Derek's lines when he and Cool Cat show Mike the house are very clearly dubbed, with his lips flaps not matching.
  • Large Ham: Dirty Dog, like in Fights Coronavirus, completely hams it up.
  • Never Say "Die": Averted, unlike previous films where the potentially fatal consequences of finding a gun or getting COVID are unaddressed; Cool Cat mentions he needs to stop the Dirty Dog Virus because it "could kill all the kids".
  • P.O.V. Cam: There's a shot of Daddy Derek with his lips forward to the camera as he's about to kiss Momma Cat.
  • The Stinger:
    • Midway through the credits, one scene from Fights Coronavirus of Britney saying "Cool Cat is a hero!" is played, along with Dirty Dog saying "I'm gonna get you too!" and a brief PSA in which Cool Cat and Derek Savage introduce a husky dog named Harry and promote animal adoption.
    • After the credits, a scene from Cool Cat Saves the Kids plays in which Cool Cat says to Maria, "And I love you too. I'm Cool Cat, and I love all kids!"
  • Stock Footage:
    • Scenes from Cool Cat Saves the Kids are used when Cool Cat and/or Daddy Derek walk outside their house, as well as driving to and from the house they're flipping, and Cool Cat running across the street. One shot of Cool Cat and Daddy Derek inside their car is an unused scene, as evidenced by Cool Cat's teal shirt.
    • When Dirty Dog watches Joe Biden's announcement that the pandemic is over, footage from 60 Minutes is used.
    • The news report announcing the massive increase in coronavirus cases is reused later on when Cool Cat watches a news report announcing the spread of the Dirty Dog Virus, this time dubbed with a text-to-speech voice.
    • This pre-existing footage is used to accompany the Harrier Jet taking off, while scenes from this video are used for the scenes in the cockpit.
  • Synthetic Voice Actor: All new news report scenes use obvious text-to-speech voices.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Colonel Nalls attempts a napalm attack on Dirty Dog. Somehow, this doesn't kill him or demolish the surrounding area.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?:
    • Apart from a recap later in the film, Angela and Britney are not seen after the Fights Coronavirus scenes.
    • Colonel Nalls vanishes after the napalm attack on Dirty Dog.
