Sadie Glass is a successful American erotic novelist who has gone to Italy on a book tour where she promotes her latest novel. After a fight with her boyfriend Thierry however, Sadie takes up her ex Alex's offer that she stay in an old villa. There she falls for Francesca, his female friend, and they begin a passionate affair. However, it turns out that the castle is home to many sinister things...

The film was titled "Sadie" in some countries. Released 2016, it was a co-production by Britain, Canada and Italy.

Tropes:

  • Affectionate Nickname: Francesca calls Sadie (who becomes her lover) "piccola" ("small" or "little one") while she's speaking tenderly with her. It grows creepy as Francesca uses this while urging Sadie to kill Thierry later.
  • Bisexual Love Triangle: Sadie leaves her boyfriend Thierry, tired of their relationship, and begins seeing Francesca. Thierry though wants her back, following Sadie and arrives at the castle, but she rejects him. Francesca demands that Sadie kill Thierry as a ritual sacrifice, saying it's "him or us".
  • Closed Circle: Sadie's first attempt to escape the villa fails, as the local people are in the cult's thrall. One cab driver refuses to let her in, another does but then drugs her, depositing Sadie back there. She only manages to escape later, after they already murdered Thierry.
  • Cult: The villa turns out to be the home of one which hosts not only sex parties but has ritually sacrificed multiple people. Alex and Francesca naturally are part of it, the latter sacrificing Sadie's ex-boyfriend Thierry when she won't.
  • Erotic Asphyxiation: Sadie enjoys erotic asphyxiation, her lovers choking her during sex. Later on she does it to Francesca as well while they have sex, nearly strangling her once. In her next book, she writes the protagonist as having earlier killed her lover accidentally doing this.
  • Fanservice Extra: Many of the women at the cult's orgies are attractive. They're shown wearing very little as well.
  • Hallucinations: Sadie starts to have these at the villa, seeing dangerous things often that go away as she turns her attention on them. At least, so she thinks. It's indicated everything was real, she just didn't realize at first.
  • Human Sacrifice: Sadie sees (or thinks she does) a young woman being killed ritually at the orgy. Everyone else denies it happened however. Naturally it turns out to be real, and Sadie is forced to attend another sacrifice, where the victim is her ex-boyfriend Thierry, while her current lover Francesca demands that she choose between them. Sadie refuses to sacrifice him, so he's killed by Francesca instead.
  • Karma Houdini: The cult gets away with everything, though Sadie escapes back to the US. Francesca promises that Sadie will come back to them in time. The last shot shows Sadie watching Francesca driving away.
  • Leg Focus: Sadie and Francesca's shapely legs (in short dresses and stockings that showcase them) often get long shots by the camera (especially while someone's running their hand down them seductively).
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Sadie and Francesca are both feminine women who have a relationship. Both largely wear very beautiful (highly revealing, in Sadie's case) dresses, with a demure air most of the time. Francesca has long hair, and though Sadie's hair is short the elegant style doesn't make it come off as unfeminine. Sadie however is bisexual as she's left her boyfriend when they get together.
  • Ms. Fanservice:
    • Sadie has multiple sex scenes in the film (one quite long) where she's topless, while often wearing beautiful dresses that show off her good looks (one with a deep cleavage window as she's wearing nothing underneath as well) and is seen nude from behind while changing clothes. Leg focus often occurs as well. The attractive Lio Tipton plays her.
    • Francesca, who is equally beautiful, gets two sex scenes as well with Sadie where she's also topless. Additionally she spends much of the film wearing only a robe that covers very little (often with at least one breast exposed). Along with Sadie, her legs often get shot at length.
  • Psycho Lesbian: Francesca, who's never shown as attracted to anyone but Sadie, turns out to be involved with human sacrifices in a sinister cult. She tries to have Sadie kill her ex-boyfriend in one such sacrifice as a sign of her choosing Francesca over him for good. Then she kills him after Sadie refuses to. It's downplayed however as her sexuality isn't portrayed as evil, and Sadie's herself bisexual.
  • R-Rated Opening: The very first scene is of Sadie having sex with Thierry while he chokes her (which she'd asked him to) and she's topless.
  • Scenery Porn: The film showcases the beauty of the countryside in Italy where it's set. Beautiful art as well (paintings or statues) also served as this often, as these abound too, often with close-up shots that the camera lingers on.
  • Slashed Throat: Both human sacrifices are killed by a single cut across the throat.
  • Vapor Wear: Sadie spends much of the film in a dress that barely covers her breasts, and it's made obvious she's not wearing any bra. Later it's revealed she's wearing nothing at all underneath it.
