This symbol. This is a death symbol. And the other side, a symbol of life. Not life or death or life and death but life in death. Life eternal.
Dr. Bryson

Babylon 5: The River of Souls is the third TV Movie in the Babylon 5 universe. When Dr. Robert Bryson brings an orb containing a planet's worth of powerful souls onto Babylon 5, they begin to terrorize the station. Captain Elizabeth Lochley teams up with Garibaldi and a Soul Hunter to save the station. The movie was released on November 8th, 1998.

This movie contains examples of:

  • And I Must Scream: The Ralgans regard their containment as this.
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: The Ralgans were about to do this. The Soul Hunters sensed their impending separation from their bodies and mistook it for dying.
  • The Cameo: Richard Biggs appears as Dr. Franklin for one scene.
  • Continuity Nod:
    Garibaldi: As a judge.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Zack Allen and Garibaldi when they see the holo-brothel's version of Lochley.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Garabaldi comments that he understands why male customers would choose the hooker hologram version of Captain Lochley in the holo-brothel. The owner informs him that her clients are "Mainly women".
  • Incurable Cough of Death: No sooner does the Soul Hunter ship arrive then Zack starts coughing, earning him a worried look from Garibaldi. Ultimately averted, though.
  • Insane Troll Logic: The Soul Hunters never investigated a possible mistake because Soul Hunters never make mistakes, so no investigation would ever be necessary.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The holo-brothel version of Lochley. Captain Lochley is dismayed to learn that it's a popular request at the brothel (possibly because it is strongly hinted she was an actual hooker during her time as a drug addict teen runaway).
  • My God, What Have I Done?: The Soul Hunter's reaction when he realizes the gravity of their mistake.
  • Near-Death Clairvoyance: As Lochley lies in a coma, she watches as efforts are made to save her life, then, just as she seems to die, she is drawn into the soul sphere where one of the Ralgans explains that they were really evolving when the Soul Hunters captured them rather than dying out.
  • Taking the Bullet: Lochley pushes Soul Hunter out of the way of a Ralgan attack and is struck instead.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Evidently B5 is actually a pretty peaceful place when neither Garibaldi nor Sheridan are around. Lochley is wise enough to expect trouble simply because Garibaldi is arriving soon for a visit.

Lochley: Zack was right. There is a heaven.
