Proof that the remaining 10% is worth waging your favorite Shen Gong Wu in a Xiaolin Showdown for.

These are recommendations made by tropers for Xiaolin Showdown fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. After a few samples, you will be able to note the interests of the tropers recommending them, and judge whether you might be also interested in a certain 'fic.

Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found herenote . Do warn when a fanfic may head into sexualnote  or non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

Reviews of fics are encouraged, but if you choose to write one, please make it substantive, and give specific details about what you liked / disliked in the fic. If you want to give a fic a thumbs-up without writing a full review, you can add your troper handle to the Recommendations Line. Please refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

    Recommendations Template
Title of the Fanfic by Author OR Fic Trope Page, by Author (Link)Recommended by: Troper Name
  • Synopsis: What's the story about? Give here a brief summary of the plot. It would be also useful to point out in what moment of the series the story takes place. If it's a Gen Fic but it has some romantic elements, note here the characters involved too.
  • Pairing(s): If it's a Shipping Fic, list here the pairings that feature in the fic (warn here if it's het, male slash or female slash). If it's a Gen Fic, remove this line. To tell the difference between the two, notice if the focus of the fic is on a romantic relationship or if it focuses on the other aspects of the story. In case of doubt, classify the story according to the genres it's been tagged: the Romance tag for Shipping, absence of that tag for Gen Fic.
  • Tags: If any are known. This would be things like W.A.F.F., Lemon, Dark Fic, any known Crossovers etc.

The Jack/Chase Page from the old GreyLAW Database and the Jack/Chase Page from the new GreyLAW Database
  • This is a very good site of rare and good, if not great or fantastic pairing stories for Jack Spicer/Chase Young (or Chack).

syaoran no hime

  • Has written a handful of adorable Rai/Kim One Shots, two of which are posted under the Shipping section. All pretty in-character (except maybe "Power Interruption"), and fairly Original Flavor.

Stories which primarily focus on the normal goings on of the cast.

Now and Then by Indigo Tantarian

  • Recommended by: Tropic Thunder
  • Status: Complete

Demon of the Wind by Mr. Makulu

  • Recommended by: Chemgir
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: AU. The three Wudai Warriors of the Xiaolin temple are faced with a new challenge when they accidently unlock Wuya's apprentice, Rai the Wind demon. Things soon become complicated, especially when Rai decides it's time for a change.
  • Now with it's own Tropes page. Demon of Wind

Side By Side by AngelRin89

  • Recommending by clockwork11
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Omi gets hurt and separated from the group. He wakes up to finding none other than the villainous Chase Young helped him. But this isn't the only conflicting thing the young monk has to deal with. Omi gets some news from the immortal warrior that causes great confliction within himself as well.
  • Comments: This author really knows Omi and Chase's characters really well, it's only a one-shot chapter fic, but the characterization is spot on. The dialogue fits just right for both our hero and villain, and the author gives us a different way to look at the relationship between the two. (And it is not a romance fic, thank god.)

Dragons will be Dragons by avearia

  • Recommended by Manifest
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: How did Clay, Kimiko, and Rai get their powers, and how did they get drafted to the temple as dragons? Follow each of them through their stories as they gain control over their elements and, ultimately, their lives…

Retrospect by BrokenRose12

  • Recommended by angelrin89
  • Status: Dead; last updated August 2014
  • Synopsis: With Raimundo as their leader, the monks continued their quest to fight off evil. Unknown to them a bigger problem was arising. When Chase approaches Omi another time he might just succeed in his plan to bring him to the Haylin side for good.

Wu Xing Shield by DragonNutt

  • Recommended by angelrin89, Chipmunkfanatic, and curiouscanine
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Raimundo is finally the team leader, but his problems are hardly over. While Hannibal Bean plots revenge, the Xiaolin monks encounter strange visitors, ruthless villains, and unexpected betrayals. All the while, a foe stronger than anything they've faced before gathers its strength...
  • Comments: The author has an incredible understanding of each and every character in the Xiaolin universe, bringing a darker tone to the classic feel without losing any of what made the characters fun and humorous in the first place. The plot is intricate and well planned with plenty of foreshadowing and some genius plot twists that will have you at the edge of your seat.
  • Now with its own Tropes page: Wu Xing Shield

The Rot Beneath The Earth by Sei-sama

  • Recommended by angelrin89
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: After a Showdown against Hannibal, Clay starts acting weird. It's only when he's hurtful that the others realize that he's acting wrong.

Improptu by Tree of Ashes''

  • Recommended by: Dellanotte
  • Status: Likely Dead Fic, which is kinda fine since it's one-shots.
  • Synopsis: A collection of drabbles.
  • Comments: Absolutely hilarious snapshots of various characters' lives, occasionally bordering on Crack Fic whenever Chase Young is concerned. Various degrees of Chase/Wuya, Raimundo/Kimiko, and (get this) Clay/Katnappe, and slowly the plots get a bit more serious. Unfortunately, the only one with continuing plot, a three-shot... is stuck at part II and the last update was March 2011. You have been warned.
    • The fic has since been updated with part III as of February 2018.

Friends and Enemies by Scribbler

  • Recommended by: Dellanotte
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: "one shot Omi is having trouble readjusting after the events in 'Time After Time'."
  • Comments: Description is an understatement, but Scribbler does a Tear Jerker of a job exploring the Real Life repercussions of a boy remembering an arch-enemy as a true mentor and seeing his friends Killed Off for Real.

Growth and Decline by Exileian

  • Recommended by Dellanotte
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: When Hannibal awakens an unspeakable evil, the monks are forced to turn to the last person they ever imagined they'd ask for help: Chase Young.
  • Comments: In spite of the slow update rate, "Growth and Decline" could easily pass as the fourth season come early. The insight Exileian shows, not just with the characters but their individual elements, adds a level of depth completely surpassing the Enemy Mine situation the dragons suddenly find themselves in. There is no Draco in Leather Pants-ing, no Out of Focus-ness, and no Villain Decay—only a frantic race to improve, with the eventual knowledge of just what is at stake.

Heylin Showdown by Xilex90

  • Reccommended by Loekman 3
  • Status: Complete
  • Sypnosis: When Jack Spicer's mansion is destroyed in an unexplained explosion, what's an Evil Boy Genius to do?
  • Comments: In my opinion, this is one of the best Jack-centric fictions that shows what the Evil Boy Genius could be capable of, while still maintaining his likable aspects and his relationships with Chase, Wuya and the Xiaolin Warriors is hilarious, and is consistently in-character. If you are a fan of Spicer, this fan fiction is just for you.

Like a Missing Piece to the Wrong Puzzle by The Gray Lady

  • Recommended by Apocrypha
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: In all his years, Dojo has never seen a Dragon of the Wind.
  • Comments: Anyone familiar with the Chinese elements knows that wind isn't one of them, and might wonder why this show uses it. This short little fic features Dojo dwelling on the exact same thing, giving a layer of depth and seriousness to a usually jovial character. Definitely worth the read.

''Thoughts of an Almost Traitor by Estrelle Buscador

  • Recommended by ladyofthelibrary
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Raimundo knew that what he was doing was what was best for everyone - but that didn't make it any more pleasant or easy. Set during "Return of Master Monk Guan" when Rai appears to have turned to the Dark Side.
  • Comments: A story that shows up Rai's side of "Return of Master Monk Guan", with everything to how the plan came together to Rai's musing on how good an actor he is since his friends buy a story that has no roots. Overall, a great look at how devoted Raimundo is to his friends and how hard pretending to betray them again was.

Monster or Mother by Honey Flower 15

  • Recommended by ladyofthelibrary
  • Status: Complete.
  • Synopsis: Omi believes there is a monster residing in the temple but Clay explains that it is only Kimiko but pregnant. Now they have to explain to their fellow monk who has lived a very sheltered life where babies come from and how it got inside Kimiko's belly.

The Dragon of Life by Caligraphunky

  • Recommended by Dragonnutt
  • Status: Dead; last updated May 2019
  • Synopsis: Raimundo feels the yoke of leadership both on and off the battlefield, but never let it be said he doesn't know a bad omen when he sees one. A mystical dragon egg and a particularly nasty Shen Gong Wu on their own would have been fine, but together they create a challenge like the Xiaolin Dragons have never faced before...One that threatens to overwhelm both Good and Evil.

Desirable by yaoigirl22

The Kiss by Silvarbelle

  • Recommended by Manifest
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: Jack Spicer uses a new Shen-Gong-Wu to force Chase Young into giving him a favor.
  • Comments: When I was younger, I wasn't into slash—until I read this excellently written fic. It is first in a series of stories that have a very strong plot along with the shipping. A must-read for Jack/Chase fans. Unfortunately, the full story is posted on livejournal - those without memberships may not be able to read it all.

Time and Again by Silvarbelle

  • Recommended by Haluwasa 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: Jack and Omi Make a trip back to the past in an attempt to affect the destiny of the man known as Chase Young, however the good Chase Young of the past has become quite enamored with a certain Evil Boy Genius!
  • Comments: This is probably one of my favorite, if not my favorite Chack story ever. The character development is great and the story gets you happy, scared, excited, etc. It's also hard to believe that this was written before the season finale aired because of some similarities!

Odd Discoveries by NINJA-RENKA

  • Recommended by Haluwasa 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: Normally, when Jack Spicer discovers something about his evil idol, Chase Young, he is overjoyed. But this time, it's something that could turn his entire world upside down.
  • Comments: This story focuses mainly on Jack and his and Megan's time under protection from the other villains due his discovery and it's very interesting to read Jack discover his feelings until he eventually has to face them.
    • Dellanotte: This is a pretty good story, and I don't even like the main pairing. However, the execution is original, the plot is well-thought out and entertaining, and not a character is wasted or particularly off the mark (unless a hidden Dere-dere side of Chase Young counts). The direct romance doesn't actually take over the story until the end, either, and the author handles both developing Chase/Jack and subtle Rai/Kim quite well.

The Elusive White Monkey by Crystallic Sky

  • Recommended by Haluwasa 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: Those pop mags finally got something right.
  • Comments: A very cute story dealing with an unusually right pop magazine quiz that seems to be matching everyone's personality to a T, as well as what type they should be with! Chase decides to take the quiz and find interesting results. A fluffy and nice one-shot between Jack and Chase. It had me smiling ear to ear.

Spicerella by Silvarbelle

  • Recommended by Haluwasa 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: A Jack/Chase Cinderella story.
  • Comments: Besides a few minor differences, you have a Cinderella story with Jack as the titular character and Chase as the prince. It's very interesting especially with the choice to have Clay and Genderbent Jessie as the evil stepBROTHERS. It's very cute and stays true at the end to the original Brothers Grimm story. Don't get that? Read it! :) It's worth it.

Feline Fallaciousness by Silvarbelle and Crystallic Sky

  • Recommended by Haluwasa 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: Jack adopts a cat he finds in a box on the street, but is this cat more than it appears?
  • Comments: A very intriguing story that is a very absorbing read! I couldn't stop eating it up once I started until it was finished!

Scale of Hong by Crystallic Sky

  • Recommended by Haluwasa 2
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack Spicer/Chase Young
  • Synopsis: After getting hit by a new wu, Jack shows Chase his emotional side.
  • Comments: Jack is forced to be taken over by his most prominent emotions when hit by the wu the Scale of Hong and Chase Young decides to help him and it is both emotional and funny. Somewhat R\remnant of the scene with Howl's hair from Howl's Moving Castle film, Jack's eyes change with each personality and each reaction is very different. The story is a great read and very entertaining.

Long Distance Phone Calls by Tree of Ashes

  • Recommended by Dellanotte
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Raimundo/Kimiko
  • Synopsis: "When they were younger, Kimiko and Keiko were the best of friends. But the world changes, life calls, and you can't change fate, or destiny. No matter how much you wish too. Kimiko Keiko friendship. Hints of Kimiko x Raimundo. One Shot."
  • Comments: Starts out like the story of friendship with a Perspective Flip to someone barely canon, but then it just builds. Also provides a civvie's POV for the various cases of Apocalypse How.

Bargain by syaoran no hime

  • Recommended by Dellanotte
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Jack/Kimiko or Raimundo/Kimiko; it's supposed to be Rai's victory, but it's fairly open-ended.
  • Synopsis: "She just wants to get a sword back for an important person, while he only wants to get free robot parts. Subtle Jack/Kim, Rai/Kim"
  • Comments: Quick, in-character, and absolutely adorable. Unfortunately, only a one-shot.

Crack It by syaoran no hime

  • Recommended by Dellanotte
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairings: Raimundo/Kimiko
  • Synopsis: "Raimundo x Kimiko Request. Once again, Rai plants a virus on her PDA, only this time, it threatens permanent death for her gadget if she doesn't get the password right. He offers Kim 2 choices: crack the password, or beg him for it."
  • Comments: A nice little Call-Back to canon, with a bit of a Twist Ending for poor, unsuspecting Kimiko.

Once We've Gone by Allendra

  • Recommended by The White Jewel
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: It's been 6 years since the monks finished their training and left the temple. But when a shadow sorcerer escapes from an eternal imprisonment, Omi brings the monks back together to stop him. But reuniting as a team may prove more difficult.
  • Pairing(s): Rai/Kim.
  • Comments: A few grammar errors here and there but an all around decent adventure romance that has you rooting for the monks. Also takes a darker path to Raimundo's unknown past...Fiction T. Complete.

Dry Spell by Likefiftychai

  • Recommended by Dragonnutt
  • Status: Dormant; last updated February 2020
  • Synopsis: It's been two years since Raimundo made Shoku Warrior. They're still finding the Shen Gon Wu, still protecting the world, and still battling evil. Or they would be, if evil would keep its appointments.
  • Pairing(s): Chase/Guan, implied Omi/Jermaine
  • Comments: The author successfully matches the tone of the original show and keeps the shipping subtle. Chase Young's motivations are a big mystery as always, and the beta pairing is adorable.

Xiaolin Showdown The Ultimate Challenge" by Fire Girl 125

  • Recommended by Dream Weaver 724
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Chase Young, Hannibal Bean and Jack Spicer team up in an attempt to destroy the Xiaolin Monks as the once in every 1500 years Heylin Comet is set to arrive.
  • Pairing(s): Kimiko/Raimundo
  • Comments: The will-they/won't-they nature of Kimiko and Raimundo's relationship is a riveting side story to the overarching plot of the monks having to defeat the Heylin. The monks are all in character but there is excellent character progression for Kimiko in general.
