- Synopsis: A chronicle that contains the strange tale of a navigator who sailed around the world with Magellan. His name was Mendoza and this is his story.
- Notes: Has a sequel, The Navigator's Tale: The New World (dead).
- Comments: Possibly the best Mysterious Cities of Gold fic out there, and one of the best stories that I've ever read. With such a small reference pool (less than 25 fics of FF.net), you'd think that this would be a case of Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond, but that is definitely not the case. The characters are well written, the story engaging, and uniquely, it focuses primarily on Mendoza's early life and voyage with Magellan. The author has done their research, and sprinkled the whole thing with plenty of historical facts. Definitely worth a read!

- Synopsis: The children accidentally wake up the Golden Condor's helper: an AI named Cibola, who seems to know many things about the technology of the Empire of Mu. Meanwhile, Ambrosius and his new allies try to discover the third and fourth Cities of Gold.
- Notes: Has a spin-off, El Dorado's Reunion (complete) and a sequel, The Isle of Secrets (ongoing)
- Comments: An entertaining read. The technology is well-developed and the possibilities are expanded in this fic. Cibola and other upcoming characters are likeable and memorable.
The Daughter of the Sands by Sandentwins

- Synopsis: Following an accident in the fifth City of Gold, Zia is sent back in the past, to the ancient Empire of Mu. Adopted by the imperial family, she becomes known as princess Rana'Ori, the one whose tomb is the fourth City. Armed with knowledge of the future, she must try to put a stop to the upcoming war between Mu and Atlantis, all while knowing she cannot change events that are already set in stone.
- Comments: A gripping tale that paints an interesting side of the two warring countries that the main cartoon never does.
