Comments: It has an incredible worldbuilding and every single character have their own spotlight and improvements in the story. Totally among the best fanfic High School Dx D stories in my opinion.

Begins as AU. Takes some inspiration from other anime/manga. Strong-Issei is equal and opposite to Vali. Issei x Harem (Peace Treaty Arc: In-Progress).
Comments: A well-written story, that I have a few minor grievances with but still a good and fun read, with cool and unexpected twists in the plot that simultaneously stick to canon but twist it around. In this Troper's opinion, the best Issei has Albion fic out there.

Comments: An interesting take on Issei getting not only his canon gear but also the Gaia's Gaming Gear. It turns him into a Gamer and he actually starts improving himself.

Summary: Issei Hyoudou, no matter his circumstances, has always been an existence which revolved around women. Of course, with a bit of helpful direction early on in life, that fixation might have been channeled a bit more constructively than peeking into locker rooms. This is the story of the man who would become the ultimate Gentleman - and a Dragon too, if he had time.
Comments: an interesting take on the story as well as one of the Best OC's in a story I've ever read. Highly recommend.

Comments: Really funny story with a surprisingly in character Issei who is a hilarious doppelganger of said protag who is uber powerful and generally strong without being overpowered. Highly recommend.

Comments: Warning you now the Harem is both canon characters and characters from other series, namely Fairy Tail, Highschool of the Dead, and Akame ga Kill!. Other than that is funny with a strong Issei that earns his power but still has to deal with drawbacks every now and then. Highly recommend.

Synopsis: Issei a supernatural being of unknown origins, has acted as a force of vengeance for centuries but has grown wary of the bloodshed and violence. Having dropped his old life, he opts to live a kinder life, now helping others. However, his past isn't done haunting him as the game of fate is cruel.
Comments: A very unique story amongst Dx D fanfics, with a very different Issei. Once again, AzureStoryteller shows that he's not scared of going to very dark and emotional places. The story's tone does start off as neutral and even cheery. However, as the plot picks up, things change quite a lot. Overall, the story is jam-packed beautifully with drama, humor, tragedy, action, and some bits of romance and a ton of tribulation. However, it does have its issues. Mainly it's the slow buildup of the plot from the start and some dialogue, however, once you read the future chapters, you understand that everything had been planned out beforehand so that the plot points all connect. After that, you're just trying to devour the next chapter, one after the other. So, if you want a story with an honorable, mature, MC who's not scared of doing what needs doing, then I highly recommend this story.

Comments: This story seems to be just a simple Gender Flip story of Issei being a girl, but it quickly turns into an interesting tale that that goes in it's own direction.

Comments: Another interesting and well-written story by AzureStoryteller, this time with Issei being the host of Bahamut instead of Ddraig. Definitely Lighter and Softer than The Grim Herald but no less of a good read. Surprisingly enough, Rizevim is much nicer than canon, being an all-around Cool Old Guy and a legitimately caring grandpa to Vali.

How will a world of peace stay unaffected by the angel who was locked in the abyss? A angel of death yet a angel who yearns for life in a new world where no-one can remain untouched by the chaos about to ensue.
Comments: This story takes one of the Bible's least-known characters and has him take up a major role in the story, with the ensuing results being well-written and thought out. Only thing that spoils it somewhat are the slow updates, but it's a good read nonetheless.

Summary: Rias loses her composure and tells Issei that she regrets reincarnating him all because he didn't confess like she wanted. In his unstable state, he leaves the ORC and hardly speaks to anyone. During a mission, he encounters something that will cause a paradigm shift.
Comments: One of the most heartwarming and enjoyable stories out there on the internet. It explores Issei's prior experiences in the supernatural world have affected his mental state prior to the beginning of the story and provides a solid story of self-reflection, recovery, and finding true love. Features some crossover elements with League of Legends and Bleach along with plenty of Shout-Outs to other franchises.

Synopsis: "Igor had asked him to die for the world. She would ask him to die for her. Problem was, he didn't really like dying, not for a second time, at least."
Comments: A shining example of quality writing in a fandom otherwise smothered in filth, A Demon Among Devils is not just a good crossover but also an excellent Adaptation Expansion on the setting of High School D×D. While maintaining the Original Flavor mix of comedy, action and a dash of romance, TCL does an excellent job of pruning some of the flaws and excesses of the original series and fashioning what's left into a wholely more coherent setting with characters who feel like real people rather than one-note jokes and two-dimensional psychopaths. Minato's extreme power in comparison to many of the threats he initially faces might be off-putting for some but the Serial Escalation has begun to catch up with him and there's more conflicts at stake than one man can win on his own; this is a rare series that manages to maintain dramatic tension despite the main character being capable of dishing out curbstomp battles via Summon Bigger Fish to most of his opponents.

Comments: Reactions are extremely polarizing. There's either love or hate with not much middle ground. If you like fics that go against canon and are OK with some (deliberate) OOCness, then odds are you'll like this fic. If not, then odds are you won't.

Synopsis: Rias Gremory was enjoying a normal day living her double life as a high school beauty and a Devil, when three marks appear on her hand. After discovering that these marks are designed for the purpose of contracting a powerful familiar, she eagerly goes through with the ritual she learns. What she summons though, is a kind of familiar that not even a Devil could ever have imagined.
Comments: Rias' Servant is none other than Archer. While he's not sure if there is a Holy Grail War going on or not, he serves Rias' peerage faithfully (especially bonding with Koneko, who reminds him of Illya) and remains vigilant. It's really hilarious how he constantly gets disgusted by Issei's perversion. The story's only flaw is that the author takes several months between updates.

Comments: It's actually a really interesting take on the crossover between these two works and it's very intriguing. It got me hooked till the end and I'm reading it all over again.

Comments: After losing the Rating Game against Sairaorg, Issei passed out after his Boosted Gear was ripped out of him, taking his arm with it, and then woke up in an unknown location, alone, powerless, and still traumatized until he encounters a tall, pale woman. Turns out, Issei is not alone as all 18 of The Emperor's female Primarchs are also stranded there. Issei then gets Adaptational Superpower Change, and thanks to him, Konrad and Angron become better.

Still doesn't make it any easier to make rent on time though...
Comments: Dropping the trenchcoated wizard into the DxD setting shows a fascinating juxtaposition - though the stakes are familiar, Dresden is bewildered by a universe that, while threatened by eldritch forces, isn't constantly in danger of being driven mad with its own power. Lacking a domineering White Council (not to mention being turned into a teenager), Harry finds himself able to relax more. Good thing, too, because a universe where devils are mischievous gofers and angels are snooty jerks threatens to drive him bananas...

Synopsis: A Recursive Fanfiction continuation of the fic mentioned above. This story continues from where the original left off, while expanding on the concept. Aside from going along with Harry's expanding harem story, this fic also adds a new antagonist in, of all things, The Beholders from Dungeons & Dragons, and their mysterious ruler Argos, the Greek Titan. I heartily recommend this story to those who enjoyed the original, as this one is far longer, and the characters get more development. My one complaint would be that it moves a bit too slowly, but that's a nitpick.

Synopsis: Jedah Dohma, one of the three rulers of Makai, was always scheming and planning. Even when things don't go the way he expects, he can work with it. If the end result is amusing and gives him information, then he doesn't care about the fallout. Even if the fallout affects Earth, Makai, Heaven, Hell and everywhere in-between.
Comments: Ranma, meet Lilith, then meet Issei and the world of Dxd, Hilarity Ensues as a result. This fic is hilarious, fun and updates quite frequently while veering very close to lemon territory without going all the way there. Since it's written by Nanya of "The Relationships Series" and "Blood That Flows" fame, you know it has decent quality to it. The story is finished, though sequels are said to be on the way.

After being resurrected as a devil alongside Issei Hyoudou, Naruto will do what he does best: cause as much chaos as possible while climbing to the top. Hokage may be out of his reach, but that doesn't mean he can't set a new goal for his life.
Comments: One very well-written Naruto-DxD crossover on Wattpad, with Naruto becoming a member of Rias' peerage and building bonds with every member. This being DxD, Naruto gets himself a harem over time, but it doesn't detract from the compelling story that features Naruto's dark side(who is called Yami in this story) as the Big Bad rather than the canonical villains
- Pyromania 101: Had I not read A Demon Lord's Hero, I probably would have liked this more. However, that story's author made a very good point that just made me give up on this one at the end of the first chapter: that having an incredibly powerful character lose to Raynare and become a Pawn is... well, not good. I won't use more blunt terms out of respect for the author, who really put in a lot of effort here, but the story's adherence to that concept, especially by depriving Naruto of his chakra, just killed my interest in it. If you can look past that, then good for you; but I just couldn't.

Comments: Sasuke becomes a twelve-winged demon, wrecks the underworld when Sirzechs kidnaps him, Kaguya is found and saved by Asia, and Issei decides that becoming a Stray Devil is worth becoming independent from the peerage.

No one there knows who he is or that aliens exist, there also happens to be a group of Devils whose leader has taken an interest in Ben.
Comments: Not every day you get to see a protagonist actively avoids becoming a devil or joining Rias' peerage.

When he accidentally summons a devil named Rias Gremory, he asks her to save her. The price she asks: for him to join her Peerage.
Comments: Directly inspired Highschool SAO. After joining Rias' Peerage, he begins to get involved in the events involving it, such as the Rating Game, but the events surrounding SAO also begin to affect Kuou Academy, such as Argo being a Devil King and has brought Klein, Silica and Lisbeth (and later follows with Suguha and Sinon) into her Peerage or the former members of Laughing Coffin becoming Stray Devils.

Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus by Quatermass

Synopsis: During the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry falls into a long-forgotten cavern beneath the castle, undergoing a transformation that leads to the Death Eaters being wiped out. Years later, Raynare is rescued from the betrayal of an ally by a mysterious Dragon, a hybrid between Ddraig and Albion...and a human wizard. Harry will change the balance of power, but can he save Raynare's soul?
Comments: Harry stumbles upon the decaying original bodies of Ddraig & Albion, and ends up absorbing them, which allows him to turn into a fusion of the two dragons, and kill the Death Eaters before the magical Britain turns their backs on him and throws him into The Veil of Death, which unknowingly connected to the Underworld. There, Harry unknowingly saves Raynare from a betrayal, which eventually turns her into Adaptational Nice Guy.

Comments: Ritsuka finds himself in the DxD world alone and cannot contact Chaldea or summon anyone. Fortunately, Illya gave him Class Cards of all his Servants, allowing him to take on their powers. He becomes a Showy Invincible Hero as he takes on baddies and joins Rias' Peerage, though he remains human. Mash gave Ritsuka permission to have a harem and he slowly builds one up, though he's always thinking of her and missing her and Chaldea. Warning for Issei Hyoudou fans: Issei is Demoted to Extra, doesn't join Rias' Peerage, and whenever he shows up, he is a Butt-Monkey. The AO3 version is uncensored, while the fanfiction.net version removes sex scenes.

Comments: Genuinely one of the better Fate Dx D crosses out there. Asia and Charlemagne's relationship is absolutely adorable and Charlemagne is perfectly in character. The author has promised to show equal respect to both settings and their power, so this should be a fun read.

Comments: In this story, the events of High School DxD happen sixty years after the events of Fate/Stay Night and Shirou and Rin are Issei's grandparents (their daughter, Issei's mother, was a Muggle Born of Mages, but Issei inherited the potential). Issei's Servant is Altera from Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star or Fate/Grand Order. In addition to Boosted Gear, Issei starts getting taught magic. There are bold changes from canon, like since Altera stops Raynare from killing Issei, he doesn't get reincarnated as a devil and Issei chooses not to join Rias' peerage because he was offended that they knew Raynare was stalking him and didn't do anything to stop it. There is also a mystery of why the Holy Grail War is starting again after Rin and Lord El-Melloi II dismantled the Greater Grail.

The dimension traveler Zelretch gives Issei the deck of Servant Cards to amuse himself. There is no Holy Grail War and Issei does not have Boosted Gear. Instead, he somehow possesses the Third Magic, Heaven's Feel, giving him the power to truly incarnate a Heroic Spirit into flesh and blood. With Tamamo no Mae by his side, and possibly more Heroic Spirits on the way, he must survive in this world of Devils and Fallen Angels. Issei's classmate Aika Kiryu also gets more involved with the plot.

Now a devil himself, and armed with a weapon unlike any other, Izuku has to deal with villains from both the human and the supernatural world - as well as the fact that somehow he is acquiring a harem of beautiful girls. That's the hardest part.
Comments: Izuku pretty much takes Issei's place as the Ultimate Pawn, armed with the Boosted Gear and having to help Rias in her deals with the supernatural while working to join U.A. as a hero, using his brains to better work everything out. Pity that this doesn't help when it comes down to knowing what to do with all these girls that like to throw themselves at him. Several characters from both stories are merged (for example, Asia Argento and Shiozaki Ibara) to add a new dimension to the story.

Comments: A very long one-shot that's around 38,000 words, but it's really worth the read. It's an Alternate Universe Fic in which Kirito asks Rias to get Asuna out of ALO before he actually went into the VRMMORPG like he did in canon. But there is a price he has to pay, and he's willing to do anything if Asuna can be saved. gabriel blessing created this in an attempt to show that one could create a fic about either series without adding OCs that are self-inserts or overpowered.
