They quickly find out that, much like in Edolas, they have counterparts in this world. They quickly get caught up in the Wonderland’s affairs and pulled into a war.

Summary: When a monocled mage accidentally transports Natsu and Lucy to a strange new world called Wonderland, they must journey to the castle in order to get back home. Will they be able to make it back before getting caught up in a war?

This fanfiction contains examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Implied that Ur would be willing to kill her own children.
  • The Alliance: The Kingdoms of Diamonds, Spades and Clubs formed one against the Kingdom of Hearts.
  • Alternate Universe: The setting of the story has Natsu and Lucy being transported to an alternate world call Wonderland, where there are counterparts for them just like in Edolas. Luckily, unlike Edolas, people can use magic in this world. So, Natsu and Lucy can use their magic unhindered. If anything, Lucy's magic seems to be getting enhanced.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: Ur rules with such ruthlessness that her family is feared by the populace.
  • Artifact of Power: There is an artifact called the Specter of Light which Queen Ur really wants. Loke has warned Earthland Lucy that she must not be allowed to gain it. By request of the Spirit King, he tells her that she and Natsu must help their counterparts defeat the Queen.
  • Bewildering Punishment: From an observer’s point of view, Prince Gray can’t help but wonder why his mother always beats the servant girl Lucy. That is until he finds out his mother’s secret, hidden in an off-limits room. The prisoner, Jellal. Who informs Gray that his life is a lie and that he, Jellal, is the true prince and Lucy is the princess. His mother beats Lucy after failed attempts to get Jellal to summon an artifact. Lucy herself would have no reason to know why the Queen hates her so much thanks to a memory block spell that is placed on her.
  • Big Brother Bully: Wanting his mother’s approval Prince Lyon is always seeking to improve himself in a fight. Considering his older sister is far stronger he instead picks on his little brother knowing he can beat him.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Jellal is understandably worried about his sister’s well-being knowing Ur abuses her. He is quite grateful to Gray for keeping him up to date about her. When he hears that she has made a friend he seems to get a little worried. Rather this is to imply that he thinks she might be seeing some boy is unclear.
  • Big Brother Mentor: How Gray started to see Jellal.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Wonderland Lucy gives one to an injured Wonderland Natsu during her Nightmare Sequence as an apology for the pain she has put him through, even though he is just a product of her subconscious. The Earthland counterparts sheepishly watch.
  • Big Damn Reunion: Lucy Heart reunites with her brother Jellal after years of being apart. Both are brought to tears. Jellal has probably spent years worrying about his sister's well-being. While Lucy only just had her memories of him restored so seeing him must be overwhelming. Unfortunately, the reunion is also a trap.
  • Big Fancy Castle: The Diamond Castle is described as being bigger then the Earthland Crocus Castle. Not to mention that it looks like its made from diamonds. Both Lucy and Natsu are left awestruck by it.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: Ur and her children. Except for Gray
  • Blatant Lies: It’s a tea house not a bar
  • Bodyguard Crush: Knight Lucy Heart is the bodyguard of Prince Natsu Diamond. She is in love with him but pushes her feelings away as she feels that her station makes it impossible for her to be with him romantically. Doesn’t help that she over heard King Igneel say that Natsu would need to marry a princess. However, finding out that she might be a princess gives her some hope.
  • Bright Castle: The Diamond Castle seems to be made of its namesake. Making it quite bright in the sunlight.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Self-imposed by Knight Lucy believing she can’t be with the Prince. This just frustrates Knight Erza.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Ur can’t kill Jellal because she needs him to summon the artifact she so desperately wants.
  • Captured on Purpose: After their second escape, Natsu and Lucy are told by Wonderland Happy that they need to be captured to find the wizard that brought them to Wonderland if they want to get back home. So, when Knight Erza catches up with them they surrender.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Being the top knight and leader of the Fairy Tail Court as well as the superior officer of the military alliance of the Kingdoms of Diamonds, Spades and Clubs weighs heavily on Lucy Heart. She keeps up a strong front for her subordinates but in private it is quite taxing.
  • Cheshire Cat Grin: Of course, Wonderland Happy would sport one of these.
  • Childhood Friends:
    • Wonderland Lucy and Erza became fast friends when they first encountered one another. More so when Lucy gave Erza her name. After Erza’s forest home is burned down by Queen Ur in attempt to kill Lucy the two of them set out on a journey with one another which eventually lead the two of them become the top knights of the Fairy Tail Court.
    • Prince Natsu and Prince Gray had been this before Gray's mother, Queen Ur, stop diplomacy with the Kingdom of Diamonds. This lead to the two friends never being able to see one another. Both clearly miss each other.
    • Prince Gray tried to be one to the servant girl Lucy but became to fearful of what his mother would do to her if he continued to interact with her in such a manner.
  • Clip Its Wings: Prince Lyon burns off one of Erza’s wings For the Evulz.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Ur subjects Jellal to this multiple times to get him to summon an artifact only his family can summon. He does try for the sake of his sister but is unable to do so. It is not known if he caves into the torture anymore after his sister's escape.
  • Comfort Food: The chocolate cake that Gray gives to Jellal brings the latter found memories of his sister.
  • Damsel in Distress: Earthland Lucy gets captured a lot in this story...
  • Damsel out of Distress: ...But is able to escape most of it on her own or a team effort with both Natsus.
  • Day in the Limelight: There are special chapters dedicated to the early lives of Wonderland characters. So far Cana, Erza and Gray have had such chapters.
  • Determinator: Having her wing burned off isn't going to stop Erza from protecting Magnolia and her friends. She soundly beats Prince Lyon once she gets her second wind.
  • Does Not Like Magic: The island of Galuna hates magic so much that they would put a little girl into a small boat with no supplies and send her adrift just for having magic. Before that they were throwing things at her.
  • Down the Rabbit Hole: A Shout-Out to this in that the mage Natsu and Lucy were fighting fell into a hole made by Virgo. After that he opened a portal overhead that sucked himself along with Natsu and Lucy into Wonderland.
  • The Dreaded:
    • Played for Laughs with Knight Erza. There is a reason it’s a tea house instead of bar. She hates alcohol. Although the people still love her because she cares about them and protects them. They just enjoy drinking.
    • The Royal Family of the Kingdom of Hearts. The Queen would kill someone just for breath towards her. Two of her children are even worse, Princess Ultear and Prince Lyon are said to terrorize the civilians.
  • Dreaming of Times Gone By: In the dream the Lucys share they see a past event involving Queen Ur scream and demanding something from a prisoner, that prisoner is revealed to be a younger Jellal.
  • Dream Walker:
    • Both Lucys share a dream in which they see a past event and the Sprite King calling out to them.
    • Wonderland Midnight tries to make the protagonist live through their worst nightmares alone. However Earthland Lucy was able to break out of hers and go to each persons dream and help break them out of theirs and bring them along to the next person.
  • Evil Counterpart: Wonderland’s Ur, Ultear and Lyon are quite cruel. And instead of ice magic the whole family, including Gray, uses fire magic.
  • The Exile: Wonderland Cana grew up on an island that hated magic. When they saw her magic, they exiled her. Even though she was just a child.
  • Expy: Obviously with a setting like Wonderland some of the characters are going to share personalities and/or appearances with characters from Alice in Wonderland
    • The monocle mage- is the rabbit
    • Happy- Cheshire Cat
    • Makarov- Mad Hatter
    • Ur- The Queen of Hearts
  • The Evil Prince: In this case both Prince Lyon and Princess Ultear. Ultear is describe as being even worse then her mother in cruelty. Even their own soldiers are afraid of her.
  • Fake Aristocrat: Turns out that Ur’s family has no noble blood.
  • Fake King: Ur is not really a Queen.
  • Foil: The royal family of the Kingdom of Diamonds and the Fairy Tail Court is kind and fair to its people. The royal family of the Kingdom of Hearts on the other hand rules with an iron fist.
  • For the Evulz: Both Princess Ultear and Prince Lyon seem to thrive on this.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: What the people of the Heart Kingdom hope will eventually happen.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Although she seems to have different levels to her rage, it doesn’t seem to take much to get Queen Ur angry. Sadly, when she is mad she would take it out on the poor little servant girl, Lucy.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Ultear's Space-perspective manipulation can make things that are close seem far away. She even can use it to torture people, as she does with Earthland Lucy. However, this comes back to bite her during a battle in which she is engaged with Lucy's spirits. Under the effect of the magic, to Lucy it looks like it is happening far away, she quickly figures out how to use this to her advantage by dawning the Sagittarius star dress and firing off Star Shot nailing Ultear, defeating her in the process.
  • Humans Are Bastards: Many spirits seem to view humans as cruel beings that will kill them on sight. However, Erza’s encounter with Lucy Heart makes her believe not all humans can be bad.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Prince Gray is really lonely. His siblings don't play with him. He can’t visit his friend, Prince Natsu anymore because his mother cut diplomatic ties with the Kingdom of Diamonds. When he tried to be one with the servant girl Lucy his mother would beat her. So, he was forced to stop interacting with her so she wouldn’t get hurt.
  • I Will Punish Your Friend for Your Failure: Every time Jellal failed to summon the artifact that Ur wants so badly she would take her frustration out on his sister, Lucy.
  • Identical Stranger: Natsu and Lucy are subjected to this and are believed to be impostors by the civilian populace. Being that their Wonderland counterparts are the Prince and top knight of the Kingdom of Diamonds, they kind of stick out.
  • Irony: Its rather ironic that the Kingdom of Diamonds is in a near permanent cold climate but is ruled by a benevolent ruler. While the Kingdom of Hearts is set in a warmer climate while being ruled by a cold bitter queen with the ‘temperament of a child’.
  • Irrational Hatred: It would appear that Wonderland Ultear really hates Lucy Heart. She didn't mind in the slightest that when Lucy was a servant her mother would beat her. Upon meeting Earthland Lucy, Ultear says her name with disdain. Why? No reason is given yet. However, given the only know way the two could have interacted was when Lucy was a obedient servant girl, there isn't much reason to hate her. stellahr reveals that Ultear is aware that Lucy Heart is the real princess of the Heart Kingdom so that may play a part in her hate.
    • Queen Ur also hates Lucy Heart given all the beatings she gave her when Lucy was a child.
  • Kangaroo Court: Although the top authorities are aware that Natsu and Lucy are from another world they planned to subject them to this for the crime of impersonating the Prince and a knight. They mean no ill will, they just need to do something to quell the civilian population due to rumors that the Kingdom of Hearts might attack. If the trial had happened it would be unlikely anything bad would have happened to the two. In fact, Knight Erza seemed hopeful that they would assist in a possible war.
  • Kick the Dog: If she is mad, for any reason, Queen Ur seemed to always take it out on the servant, Lucy. One beating was so bad she left the little girl bleeding.
  • Kill Itwith Fire:
    • When the servant girl Lucy Heart is told that Queen Ur is going to kill her she runs into a forest to get away. The Queen responds by burning the forest down. If it hadn’t been for Erza she may have very well died.
    • Knight Erza is very worried that Prince Lyon will do this to her tree. Justified in that as a Dryad, her lifeforce is connected to it.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Knight Lucy Heart is devoted to her duty to protect the royal family and the people of the Kingdom of Diamonds. She even shuns her feelings for the Prince, believing her station would not allow her to be with him. Taken literally with her armor glowing.
  • Lady and Knight: An inversion to this trope as in that Knight Lucy and Prince Natsu fall under it.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: When the Heart Kingdom attacks, Knight Lucy quickly makes this decision. She places Prince Natsu under Earthland Lucy's protection to escape while she and Earthland Natsu go looking for the King.
  • Liar Revealed: Gray’s second conversation with Jellal has it revealed to him that he is living a lie crafted by his mother and that he and the rest of his family are not really royalty.
  • Living MacGuffin: The whole reason the Heart Kingdom attacked the Diamond Kingdom was so Queen Ur could get her hands on Lucy Heart because she needs her power, along with her brother's, to summon an artifact called the Specter of Light. Earthland Lucy is also needed and she plans to use Gemini to help the process.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: In this case a lonely prince, Wonderland Gray’s older siblings won’t play with him. His best friend is another prince from another kingdom that his mother cut diplomatic ties with. The only other kid his age in his younger days was a servant girl that his mother hated and would beat often. One such beating happening when he was playing hide and seek with her. So, Gray stopped playing with her so she wouldn’t get hurt as often.
  • Long-Lost Relative: Lucy Heart finds out that she has an older brother, among other things.
  • Losing Your Head: In her first encounter with him, Lucy is quite disturbed when Wonderland Happy’s head falls of his body and continues to talk as it rolls around on the ground. Then he puts it back on. Backwards.
  • Love Hurts: Lucy Heart has a slight cynical view of love. Being that she is in love with Natsu Diamond but she is a knight and he is the prince. She scoffs at people find it romantic over the rumors that Queen Juvia is in love with Prince Gray. The fact that the Heart Kingdom isn’t friendly with the other kingdoms just makes Lucy see it as a relationship that can’t happen and just reminds her of her own pain.
  • Made a Slave: Lucy Heart had a spell placed on her blocking her memories, then Queen Ur turned her into a servant that she beat often. Pretty much a slave.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Ur has used some kind of spell that has everyone believing that she and her family are the rulers of the Heart Kingdom. While the real remaining royal family members are either a prisoner who is constantly tortured, or a servant who is under the spell. When her son, Gray, finds out the truth he is not happy.
  • Mass Hypnosis: See Manipulative Bastard example above.
  • Meaningful Name: Lucy Heart likely gets her title, Golden Knight, from her Golden Armor and Heavenly Light magic. Her last name is also a big hint to her being the real Princess of the Heart Kingdom.
  • Mistaken Identity: Prince Lyon mistakes Lucy Heartfilia for her counterpart for obvious reasons.
    • Averted with Princess Ultear who is at least aware that she isn't Lucy Heart thanks to a spy.
  • Nightmare Sequence:
    • Lucy Heart is put through her worse fears and failures through a spell by Midnight. King Igneel questions her treatment of his son, where she held back his progress and not believing in him due to her concern over his condition, as Wonderland Natsu is being beaten by Wonderland Erza. Queen Ur states that her brother has suffered because she ran away. And Wonderland Jellal questions why she left him behind even though she didn't even know about him until recently.
    • All of the protagonist go through this but because Earthland Lucy was able to break from hers so easily she is able to go to each person's dream and help break them out of their nightmare and bring the inflicted with them to the next person.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Earthland Natsu sees no problem in following Wonderland Lucy into her room. She stops him from doing so stating how improper it would be as she is going to be changing. To which Natsu tells her he has seen his Lucy naked plenty of times. She promptly slams the door in his face and is left quite flustered.
  • Our Fairies Are Different: There are all kinds of spirits living in Wonderland. Erza happens to be a Dryad. She is able to use magic to take on a human form, hiding her true appearance.
  • Parental Favoritism: Ultear is Ur’s favorite, much to Lyon's dismay.
  • Plant Person: In a sense, being a tree spirit makes Erza one.
  • Protectorate: Knight Lucy is the sworn bodyguard of Prince Natsu. Being in love with him is probably a good motivation.
  • Rebel Prince: Gray’s first act of rebellion is to sneak into his mother's off-limits room to visit the prisoner Jellal to talk to him and give him food. He sends Lucy away so his mother can’t kill her. By far his biggest is spending years plotting with Jellal to bring down his own mother.
  • Really Gets Around: It is stated that all of Queen Ur’s children come from different men.
  • Really Royalty Reveal: Loke reveals that Lucy Heart is the true Princess of the Kingdom of Hearts and that she has an older brother, Jellal.
  • Red String of Fate: Lucy can’t help put note that no matter the world, Earthland, Edolas, Wonderland, she and Natsu always end up as friends and perhaps more.
  • Reign of Terror: How Queen Ur rules the Kingdom of Hearts.
  • Revenge by Proxy: After failed attempts at getting Jellal to summon an artifact, Ur would punish him by punishing his sister, Lucy, by either beating her or giving her task that would leave her crying.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something:
    • On the darker side, Princess Ultear and Prince Lyon are taking part in the attack on the Diamond Castle and Queen Ur is stated to be going after King Igneel.
    • On the lighter side, Prince Natsu clearly wants to assist in the fighting but is limited in what he can do thanks to is aliment. This leaves him feeling useless and humiliated in that it makes him feel that he can't live up to the expectations of his station.
  • The Runaway: Lucy Heart was a runaway servant girl because Queen Ur was planning to kill her.
  • Seers: Wonderland Cana can see into the past, present and future.
  • The Scapegoat: What Earthland Lucy and Natsu were to be so the Kingdom of Diamonds’s people could be put at ease due to rumors of a planned attack by the Kingdom of Hearts.
  • Sherlock Scan: Lucy is able to quickly deduce upon seeing an alternate Natsu and everything that happened moments before that she and her Natsu have been teleported to an Alternate Universe.
  • Shoo the Dog: Upon seeing that his mother is mad enough that she might kill Lucy, Gray sends her away. Freeing her of future torment.
  • Shoot the Messenger: You're lead to believe this happened when Earthland Lucy and Prince Natsu see a messenger enter a room and overhear him delivering bad news to Queen Ur. They hear him plead for mercy before something hits the floor. Given the Queen's temper it is easy to believe she killed him. Upon entering said room soon afterwards, he is found lying unconscious on the ground.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Between Ur’s children. More so with Lyon than anything and far less with Gray.
  • Something Only They Would Say: Apparently Earthland Lucy was able to break free of the nightmare that Wonderland Midnight put her through because it involved her spirits and her spirits were say things they just wouldn't say so she knew instantly that it was all fake.
  • Storming the Castle: Kingdom of Heart soldiers attack the Kingdom of Diamonds and somehow infiltrate the castle before anyone knows what’s going on.
  • Successful Sibling Syndrome: Likely what Prince Lyon feels about his more skilled sister as well as her being their mother’s favorite.
  • The Usurper: Loke reveals that Ur and her family are not the rightful rulers of the Kingdom of Hearts. Ur somehow overthrew King Jude and Queen Layla to take the throne. Then she imprisoned their oldest child and placed a memory block spell on their youngest.
  • Unique Protagonist Asset: Being able to summon other beings is unheard of in Wonderland. Making Lucy's celestial magic and spirits especially unique.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Prince Lyon really wants his mother to acknowledge him.
  • White Sheep: Compared to the rest of his family, Prince Gray is an absolute saint. He believes royalty should treat their subjects kindly. Where as his sister is content with their mother abusing one of their servants regularly. When he finds out his mother’s secret, he takes food to the prisoner, Jellal, and keeps him up to date on his sister’s well-being. He sends the servant girl Lucy away at the risk of suffering his mother’s wrath, so she wouldn’t be killed.
  • Winged Humanoid: Knight Erza’s true from gives her fairy wings.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Queen Ur has zero qualms about beating the young Lucy Heart.
