is an Amphibia fanfiction written by cute-as-buttons. It is an AU exploring what would have happened if Grime had decided not to make Sasha his lieutenant and imprison her instead.
This fanfic contains examples of:
- Adaptational Nice Girl: Due to being imprisoned before getting involved in the toads' conflict against the Frog Rebellion, Sasha never attempts to outright murder Hop Pop and Sprig and has a Heel Realization on what a toxic friend she was to Anne and Marcy earlier while imprisoned.
- Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: While in canon she is shown resenting the Plantars for stealing Anne from her and even attempting to kill Sprig and Hop Pop and not befriending them until season 3, here Sasha gets along with them fine from the start (aside from being jealous of Sprig being Anne's best friend).
- For Want Of A Nail:
- Due to Sasha not siding with Grime and being imprisoned, Anne ends up having an easier time saving her and bringing her back to Wartwood with her and the Plantars.
- With Anne, Sasha, and Marcy reuniting together in chapter 8 due to Sasha joining Anne and the Plantars in traveling to Newtopia, Andrias makes plans to target Anne earlier than canon.
- Hearing Voices: Sasha ends up hearing them several times over the course of the story.
- In Spite of a Nail: While several things change, some events still occur.
- Toad Tower still gets blown up when Anne and the Wartwood citizens show up.
- Grime still makes plans for the toad rebellion and plans to get Barrel's Warhammer to gain the other toad lords' support.
- The events of "Anne of the Year" still happen albeit after Sasha reunites and joins Anne and the Plantars and with Sasha added to the mix.
- Anne still reunites with Marcy in chapter 8 albeit Sasha is included in the reunion this time.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: Sasha gets this moment in chapter 7 (being after spending months in her tattered school uniform and unkempt hair) during the Frog of the Year party, after getting a makeover from Felicia with Anne finding her attractive looking.
- Ship Tease: Anne and Sasha get this in chapter 7 with their reactions to each others' party outfits and sharing a dance at the end of the chapter.
- Significant Wardrobe Shift: At the end of chapter 6, Sasha ends up getting a makeover from Felicia for Anne's Frog of the Year party and a new outfit and hairstyle (justified as her school uniform suffered severe Clothing Damage while imprisoned and hair is a mess at this point) going from her school uniform and unkempt untied hair to a pink dress and braided hair symbolizing her attempt at growing out of her toxic behavior.
- What If?: This explores what would have happened if Grime had decided not to make Sasha his lieutenant and imprison her instead.
