Tropes:

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Sera is a bit impulsive and very easily distracted, including losing track of time when using Tinkering to update the Hebert household's tech.
  • Big Sister Worship: Sera is extremely devoted to Taylor. Word of God says this is not only out of gratitude for freeing her from Eidolon but also because being Taylor's sister is literally her reason for existing now.
ensou: Her role is be Taylor's sister/companion/friend/family/confidante/etc.That is now part of the very core of who she is.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Sera thinks what the trio did to Taylor might have been beautiful had it not happened to her sister, amongst other odd things. Presumably she'll get better with more experience being human.
  • Combat Clairvoyance: Taylor seems to have gained some of the Simurgh's precognition, manifesting as preternatural danger sense and instinct.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Invoked in-universe, QA somewhat limited Sera and Taylor's abilities so that they won't just steamroll every opponent they encounter and will be creative with their powers.
  • Do Wrong, Right: Sera feels satisfaction for how she did things as the Simurgh despite the challenges, and wonders if this makes her a bad person.
  • First Time Feeling: Sera, having been unable to perceive the present directly, isn't used to certain senses.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The major deviations are Danny dying suddenly before Taylor triggers and Emma's mocking about her being alone and unloved, causing her to trigger with an improperly-limited QA, which proceeds to force Eidolon's shard to hand over the Simurgh and make her Taylor's sister with the aid of other shards.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: Sera, as a result of her human transformation. Taylor even notes how different she's acting compared to her old self.
  • Humanity Ensues: Serafina/the Simurgh is turned human as a result of a misconfigured QA shard.
  • Insane Troll Logic: As Sera lampshades, the fact that shards focus almost exclusively on emotional reactions can lead to some strange conclusions, like QA equating her to a guardian angel and turning her human to be Taylor's sister, or her being angelic in appearance in the first place because angels were important to Eidolon when he made her.
  • It Amused Me: One of Sera's main reason for going to Winslow, she wants to experience high school drama firsthand, along with being with Taylor.
  • Meaningful Name: After having Sophia barred from use as her new first name, for obvious reasons, the former Simurgh chooses Serafina, Sera for short, because her old form was a Seraph.
  • Not So Omniscient After All: It turns out that triggers are one of the few things the Simurgh couldn't predict, the closest she could get was seeing where they were likely to occur.
  • Oh, Crap!: Taylor has one when she realizes Sera wasn't joking about being the Simurgh.
  • One-Steve Limit: Why the former Simurgh can't use Sophia as her human name.
  • Power Copying: Sera can borrow Thinker abilities and access Tinker libraries while Taylor can tap into nearby capes shards.
  • Power Incontinence: Downplayed, but Taylor isn't fully aware of the extent of or in control of her strength, and bruises Julia's wrist just by grabbing it.
  • The Power of Hate: Sera lampshades the power humans say hate has after feeling her own hatred of Eidolon for giving her so much power while limiting her mind so she couldn't even have wants of her own, much less take any sort of enjoyment from her work.
  • Psychic Link: Taylor and Sera have one thanks to QA, Sera notes it hard for her to not notice what Taylor's thinking.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Taylor, upon triggering due to Emma's verbal abuse, finally has enough and goes ballistic on her.
  • Super-Toughness: Taylor has gained this thanks to her becoming like Sera which she demonstrated by flicking her in the head hard enough that a normal human's would have exploded from the force.
  • Super-Strength: Taylor is gaining this. She'd have it already but Sera convinced Queen Administrator to not dump Endbringer strength on her straight away.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Sera really enjoys human emotions and their complexity, but this really applies when she first feels hate towards Eidolon for creating her and limiting her like he did at the same time.
