The Spell
of Sealing is a Harry Potter fanfiction by Anne B. Walsh which explores what might happen if Remus believed himself the last of the Marauders, charged with keeping Harry alive and willing to do the otherwise unthinkable to achieve that.
This story provides examples of:
- Attractive Bent Species: Remus evidently makes a much more attractive wolf than he did a human. Within half a year after joining the wise wolves, one of their number chose him as a mate, and a little more than a year later they have a cub of their own.
- Carnivore Confusion: Most sapient races in the Forest are part of something called the Great Agreement, which (possibly among other things) forbids those who are part of it from eating other sapients. The acromantulas are specifically noted not to be party to this Agreement, though the wise wolves still will not eat them.
- Curse That Cures: Essentially what the titular "Spell of Sealing" amounts to. The spell permanently locks the werewolf in his or her lupine form and they forfeit their human magic, but in exchange they no longer go berzerk at the full moon and don't seem to be infectious.
- Largely Normal Animal: The "wise wolves" are fully sapient and can speak to and be understood by most other sapient races in the Forest (though they cannot speak to humans unless the humans are in Animagus form or using specialized magic), but otherwise act essentially like normal wolves.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: Draco develops this talent during the stress of the battle against the acromantula.
