Tanya's Hogwarts Adventure, also known as Tanya the Evil and the Harry Potter Adventure, is a crossover fic between Harry Potter and The Saga of Tanya the Evil written by Half_Baked_Cat.

Tanya von Degurechaff finds herself living a third life after a second life filled with violence capped off by a lot of time to reflect and regret the manner she wasted her youth. Now young and healthy again, and with a letter from Hogwarts, a much wiser Tanya enters the wizarding world to find a way to live a life without regrets, taking a slice of each day as they come and enjoying the little things.

The story can be found here on SpaceBattles.com and here on Archive of Our Own.

The following tropes found in Tanya's Hogwarts Adventure are:

  • Action Girl: Tanya Degurechaff is a veteran soldier highly skilled in combative magic applications. To the point that when the troll incident occurred, she was able to kill the beast with no danger to herself.
  • Actually Pretty Funny: Subverted. Professor Snape finds Tanya's assessment of him being a Drama Teacher rather disrespectful, given the "odd smile" he had and his true opinion at the end of the chapter, though he doesn't show it due to Tanya's high grades, slaying a troll with an advanced application of magic, and admitted love for theatrics.
  • Author Appeal: Anytime food comes up and is described thoroughly. The author has admitted to really liking food.
  • Big Man on Campus: Tanya slowly becomes a popular student in Hogwarts due to her mature and supportive personality, along with being very great in academics and athletics.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: The troll incident. Tanya is soaked in its blood, unnerving many around her.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: A down-to-earth example, but Lily can go off on some odd tangents.
  • Cool Big Sis: Downplayed. From what Dumbledore and Lucius learn from the children of the catholic orphanage that Tanya grew up in, they very much see the latter as a gentle and supportive older sister. However, they do admit that Tanya was emotionally distant and firm if they did anything objectively wrong.
  • Death by Adaptation: Unlike the Harry Potter series, the Troll in the Bathroom ends up dead by Tanya's hand.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Dumbledore comes to believe Tanya is some fairy. Lucius Malfoy believes she's a Dark Lady from an otherwise lost Central European or Russian dynasty. Both are using their biases to fit Tanya's behavior and abilities into a frame they can understand and are completely wrong.
  • Friendship Favoritism. Downplayed. Harry sees Ron, Hermione, and Tanya as his True Companions, but he views the latter student in a much more glowing light thanks to her being a fellow orphan, the Only Sane Man regarding his "The Boy Who Lived" fame, standing up to Draco Malfoy with him (and managing to stir the young Slytherin in a somewhat friendlier tone), and being overall supportive to him and their friends. While he does learn that Tanya isn't perfect and has some deep-seated issues, it still does little to detract from Harry's view of her being the only friend he feels a much stronger connection.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: A gradually subverted example with Draco Malfoy for the Gryffindor House after chapter 17.
  • Genki Girl: Lily Moon is portrayed as an idealistic and hyperactive girl in the fic.
  • Hidden Depths: For the students, who know that Professor Snape has a love for theatrics to the point of going along with Tanya's suggestion of opening a Drama Club.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Tanya genuinely believes that Fred and George Weasley are upstanding, popular students who are studious and serious (to be fair, the twins are popular and athletic, and can be academically successful if they're motivated, although their grades are still good) and believes Snape is a Drama Teacher who is stuck teaching potions due to the student body's lack of interest in the theatric arts (also fair on Tanya, since Snape does have a passion for theatrics).
  • Humble Goal: After a previous life that ended in regrets, Tanya has rather simple goals in this life. In short, to not have regrets by living a fulfilling life.
  • O.C. Stand-in: In the Harry Potter series, Lily Moon was merely The Ghost. In the fic, she's a Genki Girl with a hyperactive imagination and one of the main viewpoint characters.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: What causes Harry to take Malfoy's apology at face value (though it's more of an ordered one by his father to save face regarding Harry's parents' sacrifice) is that bullies don't apologize for their actions and would get subtle with their methods if ever caught by an authority figure.
  • Only Sane Man: Regarding Harry's "The Boy Who Lived" fame, Tanya is the only student in Hogwarts who doesn't treat him any differently compared to the others (yes, even Ron and Hermione). Also, she's the only student who views and calls out the idea that Harry apparently killed Voldemort, a Master in the Dark Arts, despite being only an infant at the time as not only justifiably ridiculous but as an obvious exaggeration of a more believable truth; Harry's parents and Voldemort died in a Mutual Kill and the infant Harry was unlucky to be hit by shrapnel. Safe to say, Harry really appreciates Tanya's logical opinion of what might have happened.
  • Overly Long Name: Tanya's full name is Tanya Natasha Tenya Ginsei Romanoff Degurechaff. The "Romanoff" part ends up being a red herring to Lucius via Karkaroff, who associates her with those Romanoffs.
  • Pacified Adaptation: Compared to the Harry Potter novels, Tanya's existence in the Wizarding World derails most of the life-threatening events that Harry and his friends would sometimes find themselves in, mainly as she directs them to focus more on their school work, extracurricular activities, and bonding with other students outside of the Gryffindor House.
  • Point of Divergence: Obviously, Tanya's presence causes many butterfly effects.
    • As a result of Tanya saving Harry as his broom was going out of whack (due to Professor Quirrell jinxing it), Tanya is the one who wins the first Quidditch game instead.
    • While suspicious of Snape, neither Harry, Ron, nor Hermione look into him further due to Tanya helping them focus more on their magic studies.
    • Harry and Draco end up dueling against each other much earlier than their canon duel in the second book.
    • Thanks to Tanya and Hermione for organizing study sessions for the Gryffindor first-years, everyone got better grades than their canon counterparts. Including those from the other Houses as they join in.
    • Tanya's Strongly Worded Letter to Lucius Malfoy about Draco's bragging behavior after the latter Speak Ill of the Dead regarding Harry's parents' Heroic Sacrifice against Voldemort leads to Draco becoming somewhat friendlier to Gryffindor, even as a means of pragmatism, to get close to Harry and Tanya by orders from his father.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: While Abbess Jane is a devout catholic fundamentalist with a very low view of magic and sorcerers of the Wizarding World (where she views them as heathens who would burn in hell, obviously), she's grounded enough to know that it's not in her place to judge others for having differing beliefs. Also, while she does believe that Tanya is one of The Fair Folk due to the latter being much more intelligent and mature than her age, she does care about her enough to send her to Hogwarts as a means to "be with her people". It also helps that Tanya acts very much as a gentle and supportive older sibling (though emotionally distant) to the other orphans, but is firm if any of them does something objectively wrong (e.g. bullying) or advises them against doing stupid stunts that would result in injury.
  • Reincarnate in Another World: Much like the first time, Tanya is now instead reincarnated into the world of Harry Potter.
  • Slice of Life: The general tone of the story focuses more on character interactions and being at a magic school over any major plot.
