Star Force DxD is a Science Fantasy fic written by Tailsmo4ever. Combining the worlds of High School D×D and Mega Man Star Force provides this unique tale of teenage demons facing an impending alien invasion. This fic is also a tribute to the Mega Man franchise as a whole.
"14-year-old Kouh Academy student Netto Kusanagi has lost his father to a mysterious explosion in the space station. Worse, almost every girl in his school views him as a shameless pervert. In short, he has it pretty rough. His life would never quite be the same after encountering a runaway alien called Omega-Xis who is trying to escape his pursuers and becomes a devil servant by the lovely Rias Gremory. An unlikely band of young heroes now must step up to fight against threats both from Earth and space."
The story is currently on hiatus at 33 chapters, the latest update being on June 15, 2021.
This story contains examples of:
- Accidental Pervert: A staple for the type of story, Netto is viewed as another pervert by a majority of the girls in school because the other perverted boys often use his talent to peep on girls, with less than successful results.
- Adaptation Expansion: The fic provides some more insight on the FM-ians than the Star Force anime did as well as expanding the city of Kodama.
- Adaptational Badass: Raynare becomes far more dangerous than she is in canon thanks to merging with Cygnus. Word of God states that this was intentional and that in the original storyline her only strengths were manipulation and inflicting emotional trauma. As Cygnus Wing, Raynare not only gains a higher power boost, but is capable of going head-to-head with the protagonist, and when her plans fell through she attempted to drop a satellite on the city.
- All Your Base Are Belong to Us: Netto jokingly says this upon meeting Omega-Xis.
- Author Appeal: The author of the fic uses songs from The Megas as chapter titles. He also uses a number of video game references that aren't just limited to Mega Man.
- Central Theme: Can magic exist in an era of technological advancement?
- Child Prodigy: Netto's mother Shuko. To wit, she graduated elementary school when she was six, reached high school when she was eight, applied for a Masters Degree when she was eleven and got her doctoral by the time she was sixteen.
- City of Adventure: Kodama City. Several exorcists from the church despise the advanced technology it has.
- Colony Drop: Like in the Star Force anime, the introduction arc ends with Mega Man trying to stop Cygnus Wing from dropping a decommissioned satellite onto the city.
- Comedic Spanking: Chapter 29 ends with Netto and Saji getting spanked by their respective masters.
- Cyberpunk: This fic borrows quite a lot of elements from this.
- Massive Multiplayer Crossover: Gradually becomes this as the story goes on. At first, it was just High School D×D and Mega Man Star Force, now Lala Satalin Deviluke is part of Netto's harem (her race having been mentioned by Omega-Xis several chapters earlier), Orie Valadier, Mika Returna, Kaguya Seikaiguu, and Lex Bartholomeus of the Licht Kreis come to the school, Overwatch (later reorganized into UNIT) and Talon are mentioned several times, and so on.
- Motherly Scientist: Shuko is the chief scientist of AMAKEN Labs, and as expected she doesn't have a lot of time to go home. Still, she cares for Netto, and later Asia, all the same.
- Outside-Context Problem: The FM-ians. The existence of threatening aliens was unheard of for devils, angels, and fallen angels.
- Shout-Out:
- The names of Netto's promoted celestial attacks in Ch. 13 are taken from Saint Seiya (though the attacks themselves aren't exactly the same).
- The name of Netto's middle school friends and hacker group is Renegades of Funk.
- Netto's technopathy is described as an "Esper ability", and they way Espers cancel out magic sounds a lot like the Espers in A Certain Magical Index
- A couple to Rooster Teeth series:
- In chapter 8, a model rocket team of fifth-graders suggests for Kodama Platies for a team name, before the kids settle on Pussies, to the shock and embarrassment of Netto and the others.
- Chapter 25 has this exchange.
- Teen Genius: Netto, who is the youngest member of the main cast at the age of 14 yet has a high IQ and has created some machines of his own. Sadly, some of his schoolmates with less moral fiber take advantage of his talent to peep on girls.
