The smallest design I had, what my power helpfully seemed to call a 'hunter (light assault bot)', was a bipedal drone that I originally thought would maybe reach my waist. Instead, it was a robotic monster as tall as our house.
~Taylor thinking about her powers, Solitaire 1.1

Revenant is a Worm fanfic by Songless about Taylor triggering with a Tinker power that has access to the Cybran tech tree from the Supreme Commander real-time strategy video game series. It can be found on SpaceBattles.

This fic provides examples of:

  • BFG: Taylor uses nanite missiles on Lung that vaporize half his body.
  • Crusading Lawyer: Carol is this for Taylor.
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: Sorta. Taylor can shut off her emotions with an implant and later in the story she realizes that that is not always a good thing.
  • The Faceless: What Taylor is to the Protectorate and New Wave Though she later reveals herself to New Wave.
  • Foreshadowing: The prologue, to the point where the author has voiced regret about posting it because of the expectations it created.
  • Frickin' Laser Beams: This would be the case if Taylor didn't purposely hamstring herself to avoid potential collateral damage.
  • Hostage Situation: During the Merchant's attack on New Wave, one of the gangers takes a civilian hostage.
  • Invisibility Cloak: Several of Taylor's bots can have this.
  • Mission Control: Taylor acts as this when New Wave go out.
  • No Transhumanism Allowed: Averted. Taylor created implants to install in her brain that allows her to control her robots and regulate her emotions.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: "All right, I'm asking it, everyone's thinking it. Why did you make your flying robot look like it's trying to out-evil Darth Vader?"
  • Shock and Awe: Since most of Taylor's weapons are too strong to use on people, she outfits her drones with a lightning gun that is normally used for disabling incoming missiles.
  • Take That!: A good-natured example. Revenant was started when the author disliked how the sensors were handled in A Cloudy Path.
  • We Have Reserves: Taylor has no problem sacrificing her robots in battle to accomplish the mission or save a life.
