Red Dead John Merston: The Return And Dislike
is a Red Dead Redemption fanfiction written by one Max Ralone. It begins with John "Big Tex" Merston returning home to his ranch after fighting the famous bad guy Jack "Revolver Evil" William. Upon his return he finds Jack is upset, due to not being the best Merston anyone knows. The situation quickly escalates. - Large Ham: Jack, of all people. Most of his dialogue is in all caps, for a start.
- Offstage Villainy: We're never told just what the famous bad guy Jack "Revolver Evil" exactly did to get so famous.
- Red Baron: Everyone. John "Big Tex" Merston, Abigal "Deadly Widow" Merston, Jack "Little Red" Merston and Jack "Revolver Evil" William. And later on: Jack "Big Red Tex" Merston

- Rouge Angles of Satin: The fic has fairly poor spelling, but "I AM NOT TO YOUNG TO KILL MY MOTHER" stands out as the best example of incorrect word choice.
- Self-Made Orphan: Jack kills his mother and his father in rapid succession, even though his father's death didn't seem to stick.
- Unexplained Recovery: John comes Back from the Dead at the end, intent on settling the score with his son.
