Fanfic / Princess Flurry Heart Versus The Mud Monsters

Go To

Princess Flurry Heart Versus The Mud Monsters is a fanfic in The Weedverse by Kudzuhaiku.

As is usual, Ponyville is under attack by horrific monsters, and the Wipe-Outs, Ponyville's most troublesome foals, have been confined to a safe place. Consisting of Sumac Apple, Flurry Heart, Megara and Boomer, the Wipe-Outs have their usual response to this: break out and "help".

This story contains examples of:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: A portion of Sumac's power works this way, in that he can convince people that they can do something, and they can.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Both Flurry and Pebble refer to Sumac as "Professor Egghead", and Megara calls Boomer "Boom-Boom".
  • An Ice Person: Flurry Heart has as one of her titles (possibly self-given) "The Heart of Winter". She has the powerset to match, freezing Mud Monsters and conjuring a massive blizzard.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Spike gets made significantly larger than usual to help fight the monsters.
  • Blob Monster: The Mud Monsters are this, made out of, well, mud.
  • Bring Me My Brown Pants: Invoked by Megara to acquire explosives from Boomer.
  • Bulletproof Fashion Plate/Beauty Is Never Tarnished: When Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle and Trixie enter the story, Rainbow and Twilight are coated in muck and filth. Trixie is "sleek, clean and perfect". This is a significant advantage, as the dust from the Mud Monsters acts as a Power Nullifier.
  • Call-Back: Twilight Sparkle is still testing Sumac with ever-changing wards around the Zap Apple Tincture. As the Wipe-Outs don't have time for this, Flurry just uses her alicorn power to tear through.
  • Cardboard Prison: The room where the Wipe-Outs are contained is this, as when you put a Sorcerer, a half-manticore, an Alicorn Princess and a dragon in a room, there's very little they can't get through.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The room in which the Wipe-Outs are confined is ray-shielded, warded and has an unpickable lock due to previous escape attempts. This is insufficient, as the Wipe-Outs just explode the lock using Boomer's poop.
  • Cutting the Knot: To get access to Zap Apple tincture, Sumac must overcome the magical defences set up by Twilight Sparkle to stop him just teleporting it out the box. When Flurry Hearts needs him to get it quickly, though, she just uses her (significantly greater) power to tear the box open.
  • Death Glare: Flurry's need some work, if Sumac's utter indifference to them is any indication.
  • Demolitions Expert: Trixie is one for the adult heroes, and her son is one for the Wipe-Outs.
  • Draw Aggro: Part of the Wipe-Outs' battle plan is Boomer being loud and obvious with draconic threat displays to draw attention away from Sumac.
  • The Dreaded: If Flurry Heart's narration is to be believed, Twinkleshine is the most terrifying creature alive.
  • Elemental Embodiment: The Excremental.
  • Home-Run Hitter: The Excremental bats away Pebble, Megara and Flurry during their first fight with it. All three of them being some shade of Made of Iron or Nigh-Invulnerable, they shake it off and get right back in.
  • Improvised Weapon: Megara picks up a wagon axle at one point, but it is largely ineffective against the Mud Monsters.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: Sunburst and Starlight's relationship has more than a few arguments, but they usually end in "slurpy make up kisses".
  • Literally Shattered Lives: The mud monsters end this way, thanks to Flurry and Pebble.
  • Made of Explodium: This property of Boomer's poop is Exploited to escape their confinement cells.
  • Mad Libs Catchphrase: Megara has "I pity the foal that hurts X", where X can be replaced with whatever she's protecting at the time.
  • Megaton Punch: Pebble launches a kick that lands at approximately 300 ms-1. The Mud Monsters being attacked are thoroughly squelched.
  • Mundane Utility: Flurry Heart is the Storm Princess, the Heart of Winter, at least when her mother lets her. More often, she's making huge batches of ice-cream, which is the plan to teach her control.
  • Power Incontinence: None of the Wipe-Outs quite have a handle on their abilities yet, but Flurry Heart and Boomer are particularly prone to unexpected outbursts.
  • Power Nullifier: The dust from the Monsters can block pegasus flight and unicorn magic.
  • Shipper on Deck: Flurry Heart desperately wants Sunburst to be happy, and so ships him with Starlight Glimmer.
  • Toilet Humor: Even more prevalent than usual in The Weedverse, due to the nature of the Mud Monsters.
  • Unreliable Narrator: The story is primarily narrated from Flurry Heart's point of view, which tints the narration somewhat.
