Obscured Dolls
is a Puppy in My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville fanfiction by PocketKingdom. It is the sequel to Pocketville Lost Diamonds.
The Pet Buster may be defeated, but the shadows lingering behind the three royal siblings still remain. Ava is still haunted by the traces left by her broken family. Eva is still haunted by her regrets of her actions done all because of her grandmother's manipulation. Balloon, now realizing she is partially of royal blood, is struggling with adapting to her new life as a royal, rather than just a Royal Guard. A familiar face comes back to seek vengeance on the trio, and all three will have to stop it while they mend their family back, along with another familiar face who seeks to aide them instead.
Tropes:
- Bad Black Barf: Duchess Talia drools a black substance that is similar to the black ooze found around the castle.
- Big Bad: Talia, a vengeful and powerful ghost who comes to wreak havoc on Ava and the other nobles in the castle to avenge her death.
- Body Horror: Talia's One-Winged Angel form, having three heads, six eyes on each head, Bad Black Barf, and eyes pretty much anywhere.
- Darker and Edgier: Essentially a much darker fanfiction than its prequel and the canon material it's based on combined.
- Extra Eyes: Talia's beast form has six eyes on each of her three heads. Eyes can be found all over this form as well, not just on the heads.
- Inter Species Relationship:
- Ava, a cat, is in a relationship with William, a dog. In Chapter 2 they pull a French kiss on each other in the corridor.
- King Incognito: Ava is aware that one of the nobles who were invited to the gathering at her castle might be her father King Edward, who she thought was dead.
- Multiple Head Case: Subverted. In Chapter 11, Talia transforms into a three-headed hideous beast, it does not show each of her heads speaking separately.
- Nursery Rhymes: The rhyme Balloon recites when deciding on what path to take in Chapter 14 was originally a variation of Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, but was changed to a more original rhyme.
- Ominous Obsidian Ooze: The lava-like fluid that is unleashed throughout the castle. It can solidify, and is also used to trap certain nobles.
- One-Winged Angel: Talia's beast form that she transforms into, which is a very large feline with three heads and six eyes on each.
- Posthumous Character:
- Queen Emma, the late mother of Ava and Eva, appears in a hallucination Ava has, where she invites Ava at a cottage and practices bricolage.
