Oh, Mama, Mama is a One Piece Self-Insert fanfic by KillerGirlFuria.

A SI OC story with a pretty big twist; the SI is Charlotte Linlin-the notorious Yonko Big Mom. Determined to make best of her not-that-bad-actually situation, she changes seemingly insignificant things that will eventually come back in rather massive waves. A story about adventure, family, friendship, and Pirate Kings.

Examples:

  • Abusive Parents: Completely Averted; SI Linlin is all too aware just how much of a monster the original was and ensures to be a Good Parent to her numerous offspring.
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: New Linlin is much more mindful of her health and diet and thus is much slimmer and attractive than the original. Unlike canon Big Mom, she retains her human proportions instead of looking like a rotund monster.
  • Achievements in Ignorance: Unlike the original Linlin who uses the life force she steals to constantly create Homies, SI!Linlin tends to keep it to herself. Due to this, she's been unknowingly preserving her own youth for decades.
    • Linlin also stumbles into the concept of reinforcing specific areas of the body with Armament Haki pretty much by accident. She later teaches the technique to Newgate, which proves very useful to him during Marineford.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Portgas D. "Blackjack" Rouge is a Blade Enthusiast, a New World veteran pirate and an outright member of the Roger Pirates in this story; there is no indication that she was such in canon.
    • In canon, it's only implied that Charlotte Custard is a skilled swordswoman because she had a sword. Here, she is the best swordfighter in the Charlotte family.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Zigzagged. SI!Linlin is miles more caring than her canon counterpart, loves all her children no matter what, will allow them to retain contact with their fathers if they so choose, and will often go out of her way to rescue those in canon she knows will get into trouble, averting their tragedies. However, she won't extend her help to everyone (see Donquixote Homing).
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Whitebeard. Linlin finds the idea of Miss Bakkin having Weevil via Newgate hilarious since she knows for a fact that during that time, Newgate was exploring his bisexuality.
  • Adaptation Name Change: To keep with the Greek naming theme of her main Homies, Linlin names her hat/sword Homie Ares instead of Napoleon.
  • Adapted Out: Linlin is visibly more picky of her bedmates, and as such, many of her canon children, including Amande and her sisters, Opera and his brothers, and every child younger than Pudding, are simply never born. She only has 25 kids in comparison to the canon 85.
    • Charlotte Angel and Cornstarch were never born alongside their siblings so Charlotte Cracker and Custard and Charlotte Moscato and Mash are born as twins instead of triplets.
  • Age-Gap Romance: There is a 26 year age gap between Roger and Rouge, but she is madly in love with him all the same. The math
  • All Amazons Want Hercules: Charlotte Custard is the Charlotte family's best swordswoman. She eventually finds a husband in Dracule Mihawk.
  • Allergic to Love: Linlin wonders if Perospero suffers from this, as he is visibly irritated when anyone moons over his mother and he's never shown romantic interest in anyone, ever.
  • Badass Adorable: Linlin's children when they were young.
    • The ASL brothers even more than in canon thanks to Rouge's training. When Arlong comes to invade Cocoyashi, he and his crew get beaten to a pulp by three children, aged fourteen, twelve and nine.
  • Badass Family: The Charlottes are tightly knit New World veteran fighters.
  • Berserk Button: Linlin has three major ones: hurting children, slavery, and World Nobles. The Rocks Pirate that slits Katakuri's jaw open doesn't live to regret it, and the only reason Linlin follows Xebec to God Valley is because the World Nobles were shipping slave cargo nearby.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Katakuri even more than in canon. When bullies harm Brulee, Linlin refrains from crushing them into paste since they are children. A ten year old Katakuri has no such qualms and paints the streets red with their blood.
    • Also, Ace and Sabo for Luffy.
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Cracker. His twin Custard started a family ledger titled "The Life and Dumbassery of Charlotte Cracker."
    • Sengoku not only has to put up with Garp's insanity, but also has to deal with the consequences of everything Linlin does. Then his son Rocinante goes and practically marries Charlotte Cracker and insists on telling his father all about it. Sengoku also has to live with the fact that both his son and grandson are pirates.
  • Can't Kill You, Still Need You: Mid-twenties Linlin would happily butcher most of the Rocks Pirates without even batting an eye, but sticks with them because she's too weak and the pre-Pirate King world is still too violent for her and her children to survive for long on their own.
  • Cassandra Truth: Linlin discuss this with her son Perospero regarding the Flevance incident, lamenting that if she tries to expose the truth of the Amber Lead Disease not being contagious, she won't be taken seriously even with her Emperor status.
  • Crack Pairing: Donquixote Rocinante and Charlotte Cracker. Everyone finds their flailing courtship sheer comedy gold.
  • Dancin' in the Ruins: As Fisher Tiger conducts his raid on Mary Geoise and frees as many slaves as he can, Linlin watches close by on one of her ships, rescues any slaves that swim her way, and enjoys the flames with a glass of wine.
  • The Dreaded: Rouge is apparently this to Shanks; during his Emperor inauguration party, Shanks is visibly more worried about incurring Rouge's wrath than Linlin's.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: Linlin has her crew disguise themselves as Marines to rescue the survivors of the Massacre of Ohara and their contents of Poneglyph research under the guise of rounding up what's left from the Buster Call and bring them to Totto Land under her protection. She finds it hilarious that the World Government never found out that they've been duped.
  • Dude Where Is My Respect: Cracker is somewhat annoyed that his family and friends found his courtship of Rocinante to be comedy gold.
    • Linlin, whenever her children make fun of her.
  • The Dutiful Son: Katakuri is the most responsible and kind of Linlin's children.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Linlin really enjoys Oden's nickname of "Whitey-chan" for Newgate. Newgate, of course, does not.
  • Emergency Transformation: During the God Valley Incident, Kaido is gutted and is about to die, and Linlin, in a moment of compassion for her annoying crew-mate, feeds him the Devil Fruit she found two years ago to save his life.
  • Empty Nest: Happens to Rouge as her sons leave Dawn island one by one. Thankfully Linlin is able to offer her a spot in her crew.
  • Epic Fail: After a Celestial Dragon comes into contact with all four drunk Emperors on Sabaody and Sengoku decides to drink himself unconscious rather than deal with that, the Elder Stars decide to send a Buster Call against the Emperors. In the aftermath, Sengoku wonders if they'd ever had a Call have such a critical fail before.
  • Eye Scream: Doflamingo tears out Charlotte Pecan's eye. His uncle Katakuri takes that personally.
  • Extremely Protective Child: Law toward Rocinante. He vows to destroy Doflamingo once strong enough to do so. Also, prior to courting Rocinante, Cracker is smart enough to listen to Katakuri and bribe Law with high quality coffee to avoid being stabbed by the teen.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: Linlin is all ready to scare Pedro and Zepo senseless for infiltrating Totto Land, only for Bepo (Zepo's brother) and Shachi to come in to ask "Auntie Lin" for a favor and ruin the moment.
  • For Want Of A Nail: With her knowledge of canon and her sizable power base, Linlin has a habit of being in the right place at the right time to avert events. She ensures that Rouge survives, that Baterilla's children are not massacred, that Rocinante and Law are rescued from Doflamingo, and so on.
    • Specifically through Rouge surviving, Ace grows up much more well-adjusted, Luffy spends at least some time with his dad, and they make contact with Cocoyashi Island and are in a position to stop Arlong before he gets started.
  • Gilligan Cut: A year before God Valley, Linlin finally confesses her worries about the next year to Newgate, and after her friend comforts her, she begins to hope that the incident won't be that bad. The next scene starts with the following line:
The God Valley Incident was That Bad.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Linlin. While she is miles above than what she was in canon, she still is a pirate and will happily remind the world of this.
  • Heteronormative Crusader: Implied to be the case for Rocks D. Xebec. It's only after he dies and his crew goes their separate ways does Newgate feel safe exploring his bisexuality, and Linlin thinks about how it was because of Xebec that the Rocks Pirates were safer for mothers with children than for men interested in other men.
  • Hidden Depths: Cracker, whom his own loving mother describes as a half insane, highly aggressive dumbass, is a very doting and responsible babysitter for his sister's child.
  • Honorary Uncle:
    • The Heart Pirates and likely the ASL brothers call Linlin Auntie Lin.
    • When Cracker collects Rouge from Dawn Island he asks her if she prefers Ms Portgas or Mrs Gol. She tells him to call her Auntie Rouge.
  • I Am Spartacus: To protect both Rouge and her child, Linlin lies about having slept with Roger, a statement that the World Government doesn't even question. Justified, given that Linlin is also known for her taste in strong men, that Roger had visited Totto Land for the Road Poneglyph there, and that him sleeping with a Yonko just seems more believable than with some seemingly random woman from the South Blue. It also helps that Charlotte Raisin is born about the right time, though no-one looks too deeply because of how strong and protective his mother is.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: Linlin pretty much swears by this during her time with the Rocks Pirates. Several of the children she had during this time were either made after meeting a nice man in a bar or while she was roaring drunk.
  • In-Joke: Between the Big Mom and Whitebeard crews, the idea of measuring things in "Marco"s is one, ever since Cracker said that his mother was "three-and-a-half Marcos tall" and sent both crews into hysterics.
  • Mama Bear: Linlin and Rouge. If you look at the Charlotte children wrong and are not a child yourself it is very likely that you will end up crushed into paste.
    • In regards to Rouge, the ASL origin story is not a tragedy since their irate, stab-happy pirate mother murders Outlook, Blue Jam, Porchemy, and the rest of the flunkies responsible for destroying Grey Terminal.
  • Meet the In-Laws: Mihawk is rather nervous to be meeting his girlfriend's mother after he's managed to have a kid with said girlfriend. Subverted in that Linlin doesn't really care that much.
  • No Hero to His Valet: Charlotte Linlin is a feared World Power that gives nightmares to the Navy and World Government and regularly rakes in vast wealth, but to her children she is their beloved and somewhat weird mother that they love to take the piss out of sometimes.
  • No-Sell: When Linlin and her daughters decide to visit Amazon Lily, Hancock tries to use her Devil Fruit powers on Linlin, only for Linlin to laugh at her efforts and declare it adorably naive.
  • Not So Above It All: Whitebeard was the one to dare Linlin to sleep with Kaido and conceive Katakuri, Oven and Daifuku.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • Linlin and Newgate. Linlin reaches out to him because he is the only other decent person in Rocks's crew and they maintain their friendship even through their ascension to Emperors. Prior to her transmigration such a friendship would not have been remotely possible.
    • Also Rouge with Linlin. As the narration states, it is a friendship unthinkable to the world, between a woman that is supposed to be dead and another that is supposed to be a monster.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Sengoku is less than thrilled when Rocinante starts dating Cracker.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Downplayed as while Linlin's change of behavior and personality was noticed by everyone in the Rocks Pirates, they don't question it.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Cracker accidentally invents measuring things in Marcos and teaches Law to threaten people to remove their kneecaps.
  • Older Than They Look: Due to her holding onto most of her stolen life-force instead of spending it on Homies, Linlin at 66 looks like she glided gracefully into her mid-thirties.
  • Papa Wolf: Whitebeard of course, but also Katakuri toward his nephew Pecan (Oven's son). When the Warlord rips out Pecan's eye, Katakuri rips apart Doflamingo's Birdcage with his Armament Haki coated hands and beats the feathered puppet master within an inch of his life.
    • Rosinante towards Law.
  • Parental Favoritism: Played for Laughs. Linlin considers Katakuri as her favorite son because he did not playfully make fun of her compared to his siblings.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Everything about Edward Newgate and Charlotte Linlin shouts that they have feelings for each other (shared parental instincts, strong love for family, Linlin's known type of strong men), but no. They've been best friends since their days on the Rocks Pirates, their crews are friendly but not allied (despite the World Government fears otherwise), and they're happy keeping it that way.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Linlin giving Newgate some of her collected life force to restore his vitality also has the side effect of growing his hair back out. Linlin takes great enjoyment in braiding it.
  • Really Gets Around: Linlin, although not as much as her canon self, has a reputation for sleeping around and enjoying strong men. When she falsely claims to have slept with Gol D. Roger in order to create a smokescreen to protect Rouge and Ace, no one on the planet doubts it.
  • Related in the Adaptation:
    • It's established that Katakuri, Daifuku and Oven were all conceived when Linlin slept with Kaido on a dare from Newgate.
    • After the events of God Valley, before the Rocks Pirates disbanded, Linlin took a parting gift from Shiki in the form of Mont-d'Or.
    • Charlotte Custard, Linlin's daughter and Cracker's twin sister, married and had a child with Dracule Mihawk.
  • Side Bet: There's a pretty legendary betting pool going regarding the nature of Linlin and Newgate's relationship. The spoils eventually wind up going to Garp and Rayleigh.
  • Silver Vixen: Justified considering Linlin's Soul Power; even at 66 years old, she's still a head-turner.
  • Sitcom Archnemesis: Sengoku regards Linlin as one, calling her a nightmare that makes his difficult job even harder. Then one of her sons goes and courts his son.
  • Spared By Adaptation: Thousands of unborn children in Baterilla are spared from the World Government's attempt to search and kill Roger's bloodline after Linlin publicly claims that she slept with Roger.
  • The Stations of the Canon: Discussed. Linlin is fully aware about the timeline of significant canon events and interferes in a lot of them. However some she specifically lets some of them play out naturally, with her justification being that the people involved need to go through the events fated for them in order to grow and become the people they're known in canon as.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Linlin has always been one, even as she ages over the years. A lot of her daughters also count.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Linlin notes that Pudding shares a resemblance with her father when she met the Three Eyed man.
  • The Talk: Linlin has to give it to the entirety of Amazon Lily during her visit.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone:
    • Unlike the original, Charlotte Pound actually gets to raise and be an actual father to his twin daughters Lola and Chiffon.
    • Linlin never tries to force Lola to marry the giant prince Loki so she doesn't flee Totto Land, meaning that Chiffon is never abused and beaten simply for being Lola's twin.
    • After figuring out her Soul Power is also keeping her young, Linlin shares some of it with Newgate, restoring his ailing health.
  • Title Drop: Smoothie says the titular "oh, Mama, Mama" in exasperation when she listens to her mother panicking about why she isn't ageing properly, and never considering that her Devil Fruit is the reason.
  • Too Dumb to Live:
    • Doflamingo rips out Pecan's eye. Not only is the boy the grandson of a Yonko, but his very powerful and protective uncles are nearby. Doffy only survives because Katakuri is under orders not to kill him.
    • After Shanks usurps Shiki's position as a Yonko and all four Emperors get together on Sabaody to get drunk and celebrate, the Marines are in a panic but too smart to intervene... except Akainu. Sengoku considers it a miracle that he lived through it, and that Kizaru had the sense to evacuate him in time.
  • Uncle Pennybags: Or rather, Aunt Pennybags. Linlin has no qualms dropping ridiculous amounts of money on important characters in the timeline, such as giving Dragon's merry band of revolutionaries nearly a billion belli as a startup gift.
  • Wild Card:
    • Charlotte Linlin has this reputation to the Marines, and even to her own children. No one can explain the weird ideas she gets on a whim, from sending funds to an up-and-coming revolutionary named Monkey D. Dragon, sending rescue subs to Ohara, telling her old friend Rouge to reach out to an ex-Marine named Bell-mere or send medicine to a sickly woman named Banchina, giving some of her collected life force to her friend Edward Newgate, visiting Amazon Lily on a lark... her friends and children have long since learned to just go with the flow and not question things.
    • In the Charlotte family, Cracker is definitely this. The family has a book on the crazy things he's done and a betting pool on the next crazy thing he'll do.
  • You Do Not Want To Know:
    • Played for Laughs. Linlin doesn't want to figure out how Whitebeard was able to grow and maintain his signature white banana moustache which contrasts his long blond hair.
    • The Marines are afraid to find out how Linlin manage to move around undetected at Baterilla after being fooled by her claims of sleeping with Roger she made to protect Rouge and her son Ace.
  • Who's Laughing Now?: SI Linlin takes great pleasure in mocking the Chinjao Family who refused to do business with her due to taking pride in their vast treasure within Jewel Ice Sheet before they lost access to it when Chinjao lost his signature drill head to Garp. Now the Chinjao Family is broke and desperate as they went to her for loans, which she refused and kicked them out from her territory.
