Fanfic / Naruto the Shinobi Shaman of Konoha

Go To

Naruto the Shinobi Shaman of Konoha is a Naruto/Shaman King Crossover by Resurrection of the Forgotten.

The story kicks off at the climax of the Land of the Waves arc, with Naruto and Sasuke at Haku's mercy. Just as Haku is about to kill them, a mysterious girl appears and tells Naruto to "stop fooling around." Naruto then proceeds to demonstrate some very strange powers that allow him to defeat Haku, and the rest goes pretty much the same way as it did in canon, except Haku and Zabuza survive.

After the hub-bub dies down, Naruto's teammates demand an explanation, and what they get astounds them: Naruto is a shaman (and, to date, the only person in existence who can utilize both furyoku and chakra at the same time!); he has a spirit partner in the form of an ancient samurai named Amidamaru; he's the adopted heir to the Asakurah clan since, in this story, Mikihisa succeeded in killing his sons when they were born; the girl, Anna, is his fiance; and there's a big tournament coming that will decide the fate of the world—a tournament he intends to win at all costs.

This fanfic has examples of:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: When the Third Hokage explains that he's kept the identities of Naruto's parents a secret because it would cause their enemies to target him, Anna responds with this.
Anna: "And the Kage of the strongest shinobi village in the entire Elemental Nations can't protect one child?"
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Len.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Anna is viciously possessive towards Naruto.
  • Combat Pragmatist: Naruto can utilize shamanistic powers and shinobi powers, and will not hesitate to use both at the same time to throw off his opponents. He also trains in alternate swordsmanship styles with Haku since ninja are trained specifically to combat samurai.
  • Death by Adaptation: Yoh and (maybe) Hao were killed by Mikihisa shortly after their birth. It's implied that Keiko was too: the author felt this was necessary because he considered her to be a Flat Character who did next to nothing in canon.
  • Declaration of Protection: Naruto declares in a flashback that he will stop at nothing to keep Anna safe, and that he would ensure she became Shaman Queen, come hell or high water. She interpreted the latter as a marriage proposal and happily accepted.
  • Determinator: Naruto is tenacity personified.
  • The Dreaded: Kino and her student, Anna.
  • Fearless Fool: Sakura is not afraid of Anna and will freely and openly argue with her. Luckily for her, Anna doesn't regard her as enough of an annoyance to respond beyond a few verbal jabs.
  • Groin Attack: Anna subjects a drunken villager to this after he insults Naruto.
  • Handicapped Badass: When the Chunin Exams kick off, Anna refuses to let Naruto utilize Amidamaru's powers, stating that it would be better for him to practice his ninjutsu skills and clan-based techniques.
  • Happily Adopted: Naruto.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: Anna will not hesitate to physically or verbally berate Naruto when he says or does something incredibly stupid, but she will not tolerate anyone else doing the same thing. It should be noted, however, that she only does so when she feels he's earned it, whereas others will demean or insult him just to be jerks.
  • If I Can't Have You…: In the flashback, the Oh-Oni was none too pleased when Anna - its "mother - chose Naruto over it.
  • Meet Cute: Naruto's first thoughts upon meeting Anna are to note how cute she is (since she can read minds, this makes her blush). Anna's first impulse was to scream "Kawaii!" and touch his whisker marks to see if they were real whiskers, though she restrained herself.
  • Never Mess with Granny: Kino is one of two people who can cow Naruto into submission, the other being, of course, Anna.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: In the flashback, a Kurama-controlled Naruto slaughters the Oh-Oni in the most gruesome way he can think of.
  • Perfectly Arranged Marriage: Naruto and Anna, though it's actually subverted and played straight at the same time. Yes, they do get along and share pretty good chemistry, and their engagement was made official by Yohmei and Kino, but it should be kept in mind that Naruto had, for all intents and purposes, proposed to her - which she accepted - before the arrangements were even made, as Naruto hadn't been adopted into the clan yet.
  • Pretty Freeloader: Averted. In between subjecting Naruto to her brutal training regimen, Anna is implied to handle the finances at the Fire Inn. She also gathers and studies Uzumaki clan secrets so she can teach them to Naruto.
  • Secret-Keeper: Anna figures out who Naruto's parents are, but decides (reluctantly) not to tell him for fear of attracting the wrath of their enemies.
  • Secret Test of Character: Kino gives Naruto one in a flashback, falsely declaring that he'll have to abandon his dream of becoming Hokage if he wants to save Anna. Without hesitation, Naruto declares that Anna's safety and happiness are vastly more important, passing the test with flying colors.
  • Spared By Adaptation: Zabuza and Haku.
  • Terms of Endangerment: Anna will always call Naruto "sweetie" or some variation in a dangerously sweet voice prior to attacking him. The first time, it's implied that she's deliberately drawing it out to give him an opportunity to explain himself.
  • Training from Hell: Anna prescribes this to Naruto. Iruka initially believes that this is the sole reason for his getting stronger so quickly, but Anna claims that her fiance's rapid progress has more to do with his tenacity than her coaching.
  • Tsundere:
    • Anna, as usual. She gets a lot more dere-dere moments than she did in canon, though. A good example is when Naruto carries her back to Konoha after the Wave mission. She smiles the whole way, even blushes, then slaps him after he puts her down because she doesn't want to admit she enjoyed it. She later calls him a "lovable idiot" under her breath when he expresses concern for her. In addition, it's revealed that she bought him the goggles he wore before getting his hitai-ate as a birthday gift, and she gives him another pair before the Chunin Exams.
    • Kino is also harsh and domineering (it's where Anna got it from), but she actually does show Naruto compassion from time to time.
  • Uncanny Family Resemblance: Naruto is, whiskers aside, the spitting image of his father. Anna is astonished that nobody has noticed yet.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Anna can be demeaning and harsh with Naruto from time to time (albeit with good reason), but woe betide anyone else who tries to do that, especially if they call him a demon or monster.
  • When She Smiles: Anna smiles a lot more often than she did in canon. Three guesses why, and the first two don't count.
