Go To

Mork And Mindy's 25th Anniversary is a Mork & Mindy fanfic by lalapine.

Mork and Mindy are now approaching the 25-year-mark in what has been a very happy marriage, but Mork's unusual biology threatens to upset their future relationship. Can the couple find a way to solve this latest problem?

This fanfic includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Ascended Fridge Horror: The implications of Orkan aging patterns in a marriage to a human are the focus of the fic.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mearth and Beth call each other "earthhead" and "spaceboy".
  • Blatant Lies: Mork can easily tell that Mindy is lying when she says that "everything's fine."
  • Call-Back: Mork uses his Orkan age machine to turn himself an appropriate age.
  • Continuity Nod: Phrases used in the show and references to old episodes (like the time Mork learned to roller skate) appear throughout the story.
  • Continuation: The story is a Distant Finale to the show. Mork and Mindy have been married for some time; they have a daughter; Mearth is training as an Orkan ambassador, and Orson is almost ready to step down.
  • Functional Magic: Mork and Mindy's daughter, Beth, has inherited her father's unexplained abilities.
  • Fun with Flushing: Mindy flushes Mork's Orkan age machine to keep him from making the sacrifice.
  • Happy Ending: Orson changes Mork's genes so that he does age forwards.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs: At one point, Kathy exclaims, "What on Earth is that?" at Mork's costume. Mr. McConnall corrects her that it's "What on Ork is that?"
  • Humanity Is Infectious: Mearth tells Mork that his Earth reports are changing Orkan society. The Orkans are becoming more accepting of emotions and Mearth expects that a motion to make marriage legal again may succeed.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Beth jokes that "lately people think Daddy's [Mindy's] son anyway", not realizing that this fact is upsetting to her mother.
  • Merlin Sickness: Mork's backward aging becomes part of the plot given that he keeps looking younger as Mindy is growing older.
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: Mindy explains to Mork that "the younger you look, the more inappropriate it is for us to be married" and tells him that he and Beth could be taken by child protective services if she and Mork continue their current relationship.
  • Tears of Joy: Mindy begins crying when Mork tells her how Orson has reset his aging, meaning that their relationship will not have to change.
