Konosuba 1/2: God's Curse on this Chaotic Nexus is a Crossover Fic between Ranma ½ and KonoSuba written by Rewind Gone Nuts. It can be found on The story can be read on SpaceBattles.com here. It can also be found on FanFiction.Net here and Archive of Our Own here.

On a perfectly normal day in Furinkan, Ryoga Hibiki attacks Ranma Saotome as his rival is escorting Akane Tendo to the movies. As the two boys fight, Akane gets sick of being left out of the backstory behind their rivalry, loses her temper, and starts throwing fence posts at Ranma for refusing to talk to her. And then, by complete fluke, she scores a perfect hit on the back of Ranma's skull, breaking his neck and killing him on the spot.

In the afterlife, Ranma finds himself confronted by the goddess Aqua, who offers him three choices; reincarnate as a baby and try again, go on to a boring afterlife, or be resurrected as a hero in another world. Though Aqua leaves a poor impression by getting bored and passing the job off to her subordinate Eris midway through, Ranma chooses the resurrection option.

...Despite not knowing the first thing about isekai, or even much about the fantasy genre in general.

Hilarity Ensues.

This fic includes examples of:

  • Accidental Murder: Ironically, given that Ryoga debuted claiming he was fully willing to kill Ranma in the name of revenge, he wasn't trying to get Ranma killed. Neither was Akane, who is more directly to blame for Ranma's death.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Giant Toads are described as being the size of a station wagon, which gives them a mouth more than capable of fitting small livestock or even humans.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Yunyun pulls off a dramatic intervention, rescuing the exhausted Ranma from three Giant Toads with a timely Lightning spell. Then flipped when Ranma has to rescue Yunyun after a fourth Toad ambushes and devours her.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Yunyun describes herself to Ranma as a "very poor" Archwizard for having only access to Intermediate Magic and not Advanced Magic like a Crimson Demon "should". She doesn't mention that she chose to take Intermediate Magic because it was the only way she could save both the life of her rival Megumin's younger sister Komekko and Megumin's own dream of concentrating exclusively on the Explosion spell. Ranma accepts none of it.
  • Jack of All Trades: Ranma's custom class, the "Sennin", is stated to be capable of learning attacks from all classes and even from some monsters, being the only way Eris could translate Ranma's Anything Goes into in-universe lore. Luna, the adventurer's guild receptionist, compares it to a more powerful version of the Adventurer class.
  • Jumped at the Call: Ranma eagerly jumps at the chance to be resurrected in the Parallel World (or "Belzerg", as it's called here), since it's basically a second chance to live his life over that doesn't entail a complete mental reset the way reincarnating in Japan would.
  • Kev Lard: Giant Toads are protected by an armor-like layer of blubber that makes them all but impervious to bludgeoning attacks.
  • Mythology Gag: The title of the story itself is one. Konosuba's full title is God's Blessing on This Wonderful World!, but this story changes it to God's Curse on This Chaotic Nexus!, referencing how Ranma's life has been one disaster after another.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Aqua is abysmal at selling the idea of resurrecting in the Parallel World to Ranma, pushing all his buttons and angering him until she runs off when she notices he had a Jusenkyo curse. Eris meanwhile goes through the usual spiel, cracks a few jokes with him and makes a really good impression on him before setting him up with a blanket curse immunity trait and giving him a Speciality Class, giving her massive brownie points with Ranma, while Aqua is pretty much lumped in with all the people from his old life.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Ranma's go-to attack is, of course, punching things really hard at such speed that he can deliver hundreds of blows in the span of an eyeblink.
  • Shock and Awe: Ranma's first exposure to magic in the Parallel World is the sight of Yunyun frying Giant Toads with a Lightning spell.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Swallowed Whole: It wouldn't be a KonoSuba fic if somebody didn't end up being swallowed by a Giant Toad. In this case, it's Yunyun in the first chapter, who gets snared from behind by a Toad's tongue and then gulped down.
