This show provides examples of:

  • The Ace: Olivia shows to be this, best demonstrated in Chapter 29(Selfish 3) where she effortlessly defeats several monsters in quick succession with her magic and handgun while healing various students and teachers.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • Clarice appears in arc 2, prior to the Duel.
    • Bernard Fia Atlee, Clarice's father appears in arc 3.
  • Adaptational Badass: The Black Getter F being an upgrade to Arroganz from canon makes Leon a clear example of this.
    • Olivia is shown to be a proficient markswomen along with her skilled magic in canon, as shown in Chapter 29(Selfish 3) where she casually kills off invading monsters with her handgun and magic while healing the ship's injured passengers.
    • Deidre shows great aptitude as a Getter Pilot when Leon allows her to have a turn in the simulator, which prompts Leon and Control to make a second one for her out of spare parts in case of Fanoss' invasion.
    • Fanoss themselves have stolen Hundred Demon Empire equipment to allow them to make large hordes of monsters to go on a strong guerilla campaign against the kingdom's forces, and the magic flute Hertrude and Hertrauda had in canon is capable of summoning the Hundred Demon Empire's Mechanized Beasts. And there's them getting their hands on a Getter D2 Unit which they are trying to bring back to operational use.
    • Clarice never showed any personal combat skills in canon. Here, she is a skilled Bare-Fisted Monk who assisted Leon's party to find the Saint's Bracelet where she even managed to deflect shots from the the enraged Anne possessed Olivia and even deflect a few strikes from King Roland.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Unlike canon, Hertrude is not blind to how it was actually her nation's nobility who orchestrated her parents' deaths, which (when combined with the war hawks in her nation putting her sister in a coma to prepare for war) means she's all too willing to ally with Leon and the others against them.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Leon and the Five Idiots are this in spades.
    • His newfound friendship with the Five Princes also made Serge into this, to the point he actually befriends Leon rather than be consumed by his Irrational Hatred for him.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Quite a few cases:
    • Leon and the Prince's entourage get along much better after the duel here than they did in canon.
    • Clarice is Promoted to Love Interest as one of Leon's harem along with Olivia and Angelica.
    • In contrast to canon, Mylene does consent to an affair with Leon.
    • As a result of sparing her life for the Sky Pirate Fiasco, Carla becomes a fervent follower of Leon's rather than Marie's like in canon.
    • Marie is adopted as Leon's adopted little sister after she's stripped of her status due to her birth family's crimes.
    • Deidre went from being a possible love interest of Leon's in canon to agreeing to a menage-a-trois with her sister Dorothea and Leon's older brother Nicks.
    • As a result of Hertrauda being comatose as a result of a failed attempt to activate a Getter D2 unit for their war with Holfort Hertrude makes it clear she has little love for Vandel and the other members of her nation's nobility and tosses her lot in with Leon's group for the sake of both saving her sister and getting revenge by personally killing Vandel.
    • While in Alzer, the Five Princes run into Serge(who they barely interacted with in canon) during a dungeon run where they quickly hit it off with Serge liking the new feeling of camaraderie that came with adventuring with people who actually appreciate his hobby resulting in him becoming their Honorary True Companion. They even go so far as to defend him from Albergue and Louise's wrath when he unwittingly hands over a Sacred Tree Sapling to them and even offer to find a way to hand it, and the resulting crests back over to him which leaves Serge shocked and touched.
    • The resulting Positive Friend Influence from the five allow Serge to receive positive Character Development and Took a Level in Kindness that he ends up befriending Leon rather than being consumed by Irrational Hatred towards him. Following Leon's advice, he also ends up apologizing to Louise for burning the original Leon Sara Rault's pictures, allowing their relationship to improve. His defending Noelle from Loic, also ends up with her developing a crush on him.
    • Leon's aforementioned advice to Serge repairs his relationship with Louise enough that she doesn't come to cling on to Leon as a Replacement Goldfish like in canon.
    • Word of God confirms that unlike canon, Hertrude is not attracted to Leon in this fic, seeing him only as a means to get in contact with Olivia and save her sister. Instead, she shows some romantic inclination towards Serge.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Fanoss was already bad in canon, but are even worse here as they force their own princess into a coma to activate a Getter D2 unit, and go around gathering Elves to process them as a substitute power source for it for their war against Holfort.
    • The Forest of Ladies are also this, as they go from merely a group of hedonists to outright treason by assisting Fanoss with the above, taking Marquess Frampton's canon role as The Quisling.
    • Lelia is also this as when Noelle returns from her visit from Holfort she ambushes her and heands her over to Loic and outright gives him permission to make her his toy to make things follow her way.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: When Leon is placed in a psychically induced Heroic BSoD by Mary's Compelling Voice, Mylene goes and begs Roland for help to prepare for the upcoming invasion by the Principality. It's made abundantly clear that she feels absolutely ashamed at indulging Rolannd's fantasy, but the situation was so dire that she saw no other alternative.
  • All Women Are Lustful: Leon's harem quickly prove to be the case.
  • Always Someone Better: Deirdre proves to have more potential and aptitude as a Getter Pilot than Leon when he allows her a turn at the simulator. This results in Leon and Control creating a second Getter Robo for her to pilot to fight against the Fanoss' Getter D2 unit when they inevitably invade Holfort.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Clarice is a Bare-Fisted Monk in this story and as a result is noted to have decent muscles, with Leon in particular being taken by the sight of her strong abs.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Subverted then Averted. Olivia is upgraded from Ambiguously Bi in the original series to full on Bisexual (and aggressively at that), encouraging Leon to have a full harem, and pulls Angelica, Clarice and Queen Mylene along with her. A literal expansion of her All-Loving Heroine status.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: Getter Rays are used to fuel the Getter Robo.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: In Chapter 34, when Angelica brings up how Marie stole Julius and Jilk from her and Clarice, Marie fires some of these her way to shut them down, pointing out said engagements were doomed and they got better off with them broken since it let them meet Leon.
Angelica: Don't you dare! Julius and Jilk would have still been ours if it wasn't for you!
Marie: And what? Would either of you have been happy if you two ended up marrying them?
    Angelica & Clarice: *Pained grimace*
Marie: Julius made it publicly clear what he thought about you during the duel. What kind of marriage would even come from that if it never came to light? (Points to Clarice) Jilk wouldn't even talk to you about me, how long until he would have stopped speaking to you about things that really mattered to him altogether if he married you?
    • Another in Chapter 45(Saga 6) between Olivia and Anne in regards to the fragments of her soul in the Saint's Items.
Anne: We exist to do two things. To seek justice for what happened to Lea and find him in this life.
    Olivia: But Lea is gone!
Anne: If you were in our situation, with even a sliver of a chance to be reunited with Leon, would you take it?
    Olivia: ...
  • Aura Vision: Olivia claims to be able to see a great green light from Leon, heavily hinted at to be Getter Radiation.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Clarice is this, when joining Leon's party to find the Saint's Bracelet with a pair of armored gauntlets with reinforced knuckles as her weapon.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: Olivia and Anne, have this against the rage of the spirit of the Bracelet to finally pacify it.
  • Benevolent A.I.: Unlike Luxion, Control wants to help Leon altruistically. They help Leon develop as a person.
  • The Bet: Leon makes one with Jilk during their duel. If manages to hit Leon, he'll leave the academy and hand over Black Getter F to him. If Leon wins, Jilk has to go and confront Clarice in person over breaking of their engagement instead of leaving it with a "Dear John" Letter like in canon. Leon wins.
  • Bigger Stick: Leon's Black Getter F is this to most monsters and armors in the setting.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Upon discovering she was his younger sister in their past life, Leon becomes very protective of Marie.
    • Hertrude is also this for Hertrauda, going behind her own country's government's back to get in contact with Olivia, in hopes of saving her after contact with Getter Dragon put her in a coma. When Olivia offers to heal her sister in exchange for her defecting from Fanoss, Hertrude immediately agrees on the condition of being allowed to kill Vandel personally for putting Hertrauda in a coma to assist with his revenge.
  • Big Damn Kiss: In Chapter 34, After finally being free of the brainwashing that made them suppress their love for each other, Livia immediately crashed her lips on Leon who returned it with gusto. It then escalates from there.
  • Bodyguard Betrayal: Zola's elf bodyguard makes no attempt to protect her from being arrested and even offers to talk about all he knows about Zola's crimes as his mother and siblings were amongst those taken by Fanoss thanks to the Forest of Ladies' machinations.
  • Body Horror: Yumeria and the Broken Kin Elves. Their bodies have been modified with technology from the Hundred Demons, and Yumeria herself had been cut open and riddled with burns.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Leon starts calling his attacks after becoming a Getter Pilot.
  • Cargo Cult: The discovery of underground ruins of Elf Island reveals many Elves who were used as experiments using Hyakki Empire technology, referred to as the Broken Kin, who seem to worship Getter Robo as a God.
  • Character Development:
    • After some Getter exposure and Control's counseling, Leon changes from his mob-like attitude into a hot-blooded shonen protagonist, fitting for a super robot hero.
  • Chastity Couple: Averted! Unlike canon Leon who has not had sex even after marrying Angelica and Olivia, Leon here has had sex with Olivia, Angelica, Clarice, Mylene, and previous Saint's ghost Anne in Olivia's body.
  • Chick Magnet: Leon just like in canon. Serge as well post Character Development gaining the affections of Noelle, Louise, and Hertrude.
  • Coming of Age Story: This story chronicles the Character Developments of Leon, Angie, and Livia.
  • Commonality Connection: Julius feels this about Serge as both are treated as fools in their families. They become fast friends with Julius even defending Serge from Albergue and Louise's tongue lashing for his role in the Five Princes getting their hands on the Sacred Tree Sapling.
    • Marie also has this with Louise as both lost beloved brothers.
  • Compelling Voice: Olivia and Anne as the current and previous Saint has this ability like in canon. Olivia is revealed to be unconsciously using this on people, to prevent everyone from thinking that she and Leon could be together romantically. This includes Leon and herself!
  • Convenient Coma: Hertrauda is in one as a result of coming into contact with a Getter D2 model. Hertrude is adamant on finding a way to wake her up and getting revenge on Vandel and the War Hawk party who put her into it.
  • Cool Airship: The Nagare, the airship left by Hayato.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Black Getter vs. the five Love Interests' Armors. Wonder which one will win?
      • In fact, this is the main reason the five Love Interests weren't disinherited like in canon. The battle was so ridiculously one-sided, that most of their parents decided the ass-kicking they'd received was punishment enough.
    • Black Getter, the five Love Interests' Armors, and the Nagare, vs. sky pirates.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Clarice and Deirdre's reaction to meeting Olivia. Olivia's reaction to the "big black bunny" (Black Getter).
  • Cutting the Knot: When meeting Hertrude again after her transfer to Holfort Academy, Leon and his lovers engage in small talk with her. Anne, however, had enough and decided to just take over Olivia and use her Compelling Voice to make Hertrude confess her motivations.
  • Death Glare: When Noelle points out the Elephant in the Room of her being chosen as the Priestess of the Sacred Tree Sapling while Marie's Reverse Harem have the crests of it's guardians, Marie shoots one at her that terrifies Noelle into silence.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: After defeating the five Love Interests, Leon becomes close friends with them.
  • Defector from Decadence: Hertrude agrees to assist Leon and the others against the Principality of Fanoss if Olivia agrees to heal Hertrauda from her coma.
  • Did You Just Have Sex?: Carla, Deirdre, and Yumeria have this reaction to Leon and Livia after their night together after they're broken free from Olivia's glamour which had suppressed their feelings.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Marie's attempt to speed-run the game by romancing the five Love Interests early. A specific example was triggering the duel event with Angelica almost 2 years earlier than what was intended in the game, resulting in the five fighting against against Leon with what was their starting equipment.
    • When meeting Leon for the first time, Serge attempted to greet him by faking a punch to his face to see if he would flinch. This quickly results in Yumeria nearly strangling him until Leon orders her to stop and both Louise and Noel calling him an idiot.
  • Dramatic Wind: After defeating the five Love Interests and dropping from the Black Getter, a gust of wind flows behind Leon.
  • Easily Forgiven: Upon learning she was his sister in his past life, Leon is much more forgiving towards Marie, and likewise shows little anger over her role in the events that led to his death. This causes problems with Angelica and Clarice when he goes ahead and adopts her as a sister to save her, as seeing the man they love forgiving and going so far to help the woman who hurt them the most makes them angry.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Leon became known as the Doom Knight following his duel against the Five Idiots, a nickname he clearly dislikes.
  • Engineered Heroics: An invoked example occurs when Zola and her children went to Leon's land that had Gone Horribly Wrong. They arrived with an armed contingent of mercenaries and Rutart and Merce activate a few machines to summon monsters with the intention of neutralizing them with their hired guns to show up Leon. When Leon gets there he sees the entire place overrun with their mercenaries dead as the devices summoned monsters that were far more numerous and powerful than expected.
  • Excuse Me While I Multitask: During the monster attack in chapter 29 (Selfish 3), Olivia effortlessly divides her attention between killing monsters and healing the injured.
  • Extreme Libido: As a result of how her feelings had been suppressed for so long by her own Compelling Voice, Olivia proceeded to pounce and make love to Leon frequently at every available opportunity until their trip was done in chapter 35, to the point she barely could be held back to keep it to the bedroom.
  • Fix Fic: Could be considered this. Thanks to finding Control and the Getter, Leon grows out of his 'Mob' mindset and becomes much less abrasive than canon. This results in him and the original five dateable cast being on much better terms after the duel, gets Jilk to formally apologize to Clarice which prevents her downward spiral from canon, with said five not being disinherited like in canon as well. Likewise, Leon's own relationships with Olivia, Mylene, Angelica, and Clarice go further along than canon.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The story kick-started when Leon found Getter technology instead of Luxion. This changes the plot events much more drastically than in canon. Specific Examples include:
    • Oivia's ability to sense the Getter Rays means she's far more interested in being with Leon.
    • Control actively assisting Leon results in Leon overcoming his mindset of being a mob and sticking to the original game's script. It also allows him to be more proactive with his relationships.
    • Leon's decision to host a tea party with Angelica and Clarice allows him to befriend the two of them, and Olivia with them much earlier.
    • Since the duel against the Five Idiots is a five on one match from the get-go instead of five consecutive one-on-one duels, and that the Black Getter didn't arrive until the last minute, Jilk doesn't have a chance to try and sabotage the duel by trying to force Jenna to plant a bomb on Leon's armor.
    • His friendship with Angie and Clarice makes Julius and Jilk spurning the two of them much more personal to him and he gives them a different kind of chewing out. He also forces Jilk to actually apologize to Clarice after winning duel much earlier than canon, ending her Gyaru Girl phase early before she resorts to getting Sex for Solace from Exclusive Servants.
    • The sheer one-sidedness of the duel against the five means that they aren't disinherited after the duel like in canon. Leon's less vicious attitudes towards them during the duel also means it ends in a case of Defeat Equals Friendship instead of the one-sided rivalry from canon.
    • Since her lovers haven't been disinherited, Marie doesn't go down to the dungeons in the capitol for the Saint Bracelet out of desperation or is declared the saint early.
    • Due to the aforementioned newfound friendship, all five of the princes go with Leon to eliminate the Sky Pirates with new armors instead of just Brad and Greg on their own. Marie tagging along with them also allows her and Leon to learn of each other's status as reincarnators earlier than canon and her to divulge what her life with the Lafans are like.
    • Marie ends up on the same boat with Leon and Olivia during the field trip, another discussion between her and Leon allow the two to discover that they were siblings in their past lives earlier than canon.
    • Leon leaving the Saint's Necklace results in it gaining power by absorbing the Getter Rays from the Nagare. This results in Olivia finding it and her and the others discovering the Saintess Anne's ghost when it tries to possess her.
    • Some time prior to the school year Fanoss and the Forest of Ladies discovered the existence of a Getter D2 unit worshipped as a Dragon God by the Elves. They sneak it back to the Principality with the intention of using it against Holfort and capture Elves to process their lifeforce as an alternate energy source for the D2 unit o substitute Getter Rays. A failed attempt to activate it resulted in Hertrauda being rendered comatose and Hertrude discovering the truth of her parents death makes her swear vengeance on Vandel and the rest of her nation's war party to the point she later on defects to Leon's side. As a result instead of a hostage attempt, they merely send numerous monsters produced from scavenged 100 Demon Empire technology to attack the field trip instead and Hertrude is never captured and instead transfers during the second year.
    • As Fanoss had not invaded yet, even though Leon is aware of the possibility of it happening earlier, Leon decides to remain at Holfort in the second year with Marie and the Five going to Alzer on their own. The five princes end up tagging along on a dungeon trek with Serge resulting in them getting the Sacred Tree Sapling which designates the 5 of them as its guardians.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Leon and his harem agree that while Marie's Dark and Troubled Past was sad and her attempts to seduce the Prince's Entourage was a desperate way to get out of her own personal Hell, they make it clear it didn't make how she wronged Olivia, Clarice, and Angelica acceptable. Angelica and Clarice outright admit that they probably won't ever forgive her even after learning about her horrible family life and her status as a reincarnator and being Leon's younger sister in their past life, even if the two have come to reluctantly admit that their previous engagements were doomed and that them being broken off were the best thing to happen to them as it let them meet Leon.
  • Fusion Fic: The ancient New and Old Humans in the backstory of the game have been replaced with the timeline of the Getter Robo franchise which have changed and effected several parts of the plot and worldbuilding.
  • Glamour Failure: Roland's Masked Knight ensemble also has this to keep people from noticing his identity when joining with Leon's party to search for the Saint's Bracelet. Even people who know or have seen him personally such as Angelica and Hertrude aren't able to recognize him with the only ones who can see through it and recognize him are Leon, Control, and Anne.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Control is initially adamant that Leon's Black Getter F remains the last remaining Getter. However upon learning from Hertrude how Fanoss has access to a Hyakki Empire flute capable of summoning several of their other beasts and found a Getter D2 unit which they intend to make operational in their attempted war against Holfort, it acquiesces in making a second one out of spare parts for Deidre to pilot due to the danger involved possibly being too much for Leon alone to handle.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Leon sets up a tea party between Nick and Deidre in hopes of setting them up, but the latter's older sister Dorothea comes to crash it. Nick's attempt to stop their argument resulted in both sisters being interested in him.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Just as in canon, Marie has this towards Olivia for her status as Saint and that even despite her taking the canon five from her, she's still better off in a loving relationship with Leon and is all-around superior to her in magic and other forms of combat.
  • Hey, You!: Marie seldom if ever refers to Olivia, Angelica, or Clarice by name in her monologues, usually disparaging them as the doormat (Olivia), violent villaness/loser (Angelica), or minor antagonist (Clarice).
  • Hot-Blooded: Exposure to Getter Radiation plus Control's counseling turns Leon into a hot-blooded shonen protagonist.
  • Human Resources: Fanoss is revealed to be the ones responsible for the disappearances of the Elves all across the nation. Hertrude reveals that the reason for it was so they can process them to use their life force as a substitute power source for the rundown Getter D2 unit they found to use as a weapon against Holfort.
  • Humongous Mecha: The Black Getter is around 18 meters tall, three-times taller than the Armors.
    • Doubled-down with the D2, which is stated to be 55 meters tall.
  • Identity Amnesia: Yumeria. Thanks to Body Horror, she goes from a shy, clumsy, loving mother of Kyle to an cold, subservient worshipper of Getter who does not recognize her son.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Leon jokingly claims that the Five Idiots being chosen to be the Sacred Tree Sapling's guardians would technically make them its fathers and jokingly claims it would be practice for them and Marie should any of them have kids. He was unaware mostly due to Marie refusing to tell him that it was a massive Trauma Button for Marie due to being reminded of how their parents took her own daughter away from her in her previous life.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: Leon once played Gundam VS. in his past life. It translates well to Getter Robo's belief-based piloting system.
  • "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight: When Olivia, possessed by the Spirit of the Saint's Bracelet which contains Anne's Unstoppable Rage, tries to kill Roland, Leon's party all do this and try to non-lethally subdue her while trying to talk sense into her.
  • Insecure Love Interest: Deconstructed, as Olivia internalizing this mindset resulted in her unintentionally using Compelling Voice on herself and the others to not even consider her and Leon being anything more than friends. Once said brainwashing is worn off, the others waste no time in relieving her of these fears.
  • Instant Expert: Leon allows Deidre to try out the Getter Simulator and she proves to be a natural at it, performing far better than Leon himself did in his first few attempts.
  • Internal Reveal: Marie and Leon discover that they were siblings in their past life in Chapter 27(Selfish 1).
    • After the many Poor Communication Kills moments in his relationship with them, Leon decides to come clean about his and Marie's status as reincarnators and how they used to be siblings to Livia, Angie, and Clarice in chapter 38(Say Goodbye, Loneliness-5).
  • It Amused Me: The entire reason for Roland's joining Leon's party in the capitol to find the Saint's Bracelet and agreeing to keep quiet about Olivia's status with Anne.
  • "It" Is Dehumanizing: Marie refers to the rest of the Lafans as animals in her inner monologues due to their abuse of her. Also to an extent with the girls in Leon's harem who she barely ever refers to by name, instead usually being designated by their roles in the game(Olivia as the protaganist, Angelica as the villainess, etc), before settling for other derogatory terms(Olivia as either a doormat or monster, Angelica and Clarice as defective losers).
  • Jerkass Has a Point: In Chapter 34 while confronting Marie, Angelica angrily points out how Marie stole Julius and Jilk from her and Clarice. Marie however points out that between Julius' dislike of being Crown Prince which he saw Angelica as an outlet for, and the fact that Jilk wouldn't even bring up Marie at all with Clarice before he fell for her seriously, it would have just ended up in an Awful Wedded Life for both of parties if they had gone through, and that said engagements breaking down followed by them both meeting Leon afterwards was the best thing that could have happened to them.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Zola is finally arrested and made to pay for her various crimes against the Bartfords and the kingdom ingeneral when Clarice and other members of Mylene's personal guard arrest her with Clarice even breaking her jaw for good measure.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Unlike Leon's harem, The Five Princes are unaware of Marie's status as a reincarnator due to her deep seated trust issues. This poses a problem when Marie uses terminologies such as referring to Alzer as the Second game outloud in Julius' earshot while discussing it with Leon.
  • Lost Technology: The Getter technology was lost before being discovered back by Leon.
  • Loving a Shadow: Marie feels this way about the Five, which is part of the reason she hasn't told them the truth about her status as a reincarnator. Despite having known her for over a year, they had never noticed the hardships she had to endure from the Lafans(such as her diminutive stature, or how she had no other clothes besides her school uniform) or bothered to ask or look into it, taking her at her word. She sees this as them only being interested in the Marie at the surface she projects rather than her real self as she'd expect a proper lover to do.
  • Mama Bear: Leon meets Clarice's mother during Clarice's graduation ceremony, who makes it clear to Leon that she will NOT tolerate him making anymore mistakes with her daughter after the heartbreaks she's already endured.
  • Mage Marksman: Angelica lends a handgun to Livia, which goes on to be her main weapon which she uses in tandem with her magic.
  • Marry Them All: People, including Angie and Clarice's fathers, are pushing for Leon to marry both of them, even pointing out that he can also take Olivia as a mistress.
    • Gets complicated with Mylene and Olivia. After resolving Olivia's unintended use of Compelling Voice and keeping relationship with Mylene secret from his other lovers, Leon has accepted both their feelings. Angie and Clarice has also accepted them as Leon's lovers. But because of Olivia and Mylene's statuses whether they can publicly marry Leon is unknown as this point.
  • Mercy Kill: All of the Broken Kin Elves barring Yumeria are euthanized by Control, due to their modifications making them unable to live without their technology, which has been stolen from them.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Unlike canon, Hertrude here is well aware of Vandal and her country's War Hawk group being responsible for her parents' deaths, which combined with them putting Hertrauda in a coma in an attempt to activate the Getter D2, means she has little love for her country and has zero hesitation to turn on them when Olivia offers to heal her sister if she agrees to fight off Fanoss' invasion.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Both Marie and Anne advocated killing Hertrude on sight when Leon meets her. When its pointed out doing so would trigger a war between both nations, both fire back that Fanos was already planning a war with Holfort.
  • New Transfer Student: Hertrude becomes this at Holfort during Leon's second year.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Anne's attempt to possess Olivia ends up undoing Olivia's use of Compelling Voice, on both herself and on Leon. This allows them to hook up.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: The Black Getter F Leon uses is made from spare parts of older units and is smaller than its usual contemporaries, with Leon himself having only a fraction of the training, talent and experience canon Getter pilots had. Despite this, it's still head over heels above most other threats in canon and at 18 meters tall, is around 3 times bigger than the standard Armors in the setting.
  • Not a Game: Part of Leon's Character Development is understanding that not all things that happened in the original game are ironclad and that the people around him are more than their roles from the game. He and Control also try to instill these into Marie, to mixed results.
  • Obnoxious In-Laws: Marie has this with Leon's harem after being adopted into the Bartfords and Leon coming clean about the two of them being siblings in their previous life. Olivia, Angelica, and Clarice haven't forgiven her for wronging the latter two by stealing Julius and Jilk, which Marie is utterly unapologetic for and derides the latter two as defective losers and is envious of Olivia who she considers a monster for her superior magical abilities in her mind. They only barely tolerate each other for Leon's sake.
  • One-Man Army:
    • Leon's Black Getter took down all 5 Princes at once and later on could slaughter entire swarms of monsters most armors could struggle against.
    • Olivia also shows to be this with her magic and marksmanship best seen on Chapters 29 (Selfish 3) and 55(Dear Friends 3) where she singlehandedly destroys a swarm of monsters attacking her home town.
    • Deidre is also this during Rose Getter's maiden voyage, using it to slaughter an invading horde of monsters.
  • Polyamory: Leon and his harem. All of them love him, but Olivia, Angelica and Clarice have also flirted, and slept with each other in his absence or to entice him.
  • Poor Communication Kills: This plays a part in Leon's relationship troubles. Specifically his routine with Mylene which resulted in her falling for him due to the secret tearoom he never mentioned to Angelica and Clarice which nearly made them break things off with him, and his going so far to help Marie and spending time with her but not mentioning it to Angelica and Clarice who are angry at him going so far for the woman who hurt them the most.
  • Positive Friend Influence: Control is this to Leon, helping him develop passed his mob mentality from canon and making him much nicer than canon, who in turn helps gets closer to the 5 dateable cast who are also much more likable than canon.
    • The Five Princes also become this to Serge while in Alzer. As Adventurers are not so well regarded in Alzer, Serge was treated as All of the Other Reindeer for his hobby. Being surrounded by people who share his hobby and respect him for it, as a well as the newly discovered feeling of comradery from it makes him feel happier than he remembers. It only increases when the five defend him from the angry Albergue and Louise for avidentally handing over the Sacred Tree Sapling to them, even offering to find a way to transfer it to him, leaving him shocked and touched. Culminates in him actually getting along with Leon, after a brief misunderstanding, rather than be Driven by Envy and Irrational Hatred for him like in canon.
  • Promoted to Love Interest: Due to Adaptational Early Appearance, Clarice meets Leon around the same time as Angelica's duel, before succumbing to despair over Jilk. By becoming friends with Leon, Leon forces Jilk after their duel to meet with Clarice and giving her closure early. This opens up the plot change to becoming engaged to Leon along with Angelica. And thanks to Olivia's Glamour, Olivia was not one of Leon's love interests, thereby allowing Clarice to take Olivia's place.
    • Later Mylene and previous Saint's ghost, Anne, as well.
  • Rescue Romance: Noelle develops a crush on Serge after he defends her against Loic's advances.
  • Saying Too Much: When discussing Serge and Louise and the Rault's family situation to Leon, Marie discusses how Leon Sara Rault had never been brought up in the original game, in earshot of Julius who is still Locked Out of the Loop about the siblings' reincarnation status.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Leon's piloting suit has a badass scarf like the original pilots. When Leon asks if such a thing is necessary, Control states bluntly that it is a sacred tradition.
  • Secret-Keeper: Roland and Leon's party become this for each other after the debacle with the Saint's Bracelet. Roland agrees to keep quiet about Anne's possession of Olivia and attempted regicide in exchange for them saying nothing about his identity as the Masked Knight.
  • Sexy Discretion Shot: After putting on the Saint's Necklace undoes her own brainwashing to friendzone herself, Livia quickly confesses her love to Leon with a Big Damn Kiss who responds with aplomb. Then Control gets asked to leave the room as Olivia removes her pajamas, and we cut to the next morning.
  • Shipper on Deck: In contrast to canon, Julius isn't too opposed with the possibility of Leon getting together with his mother here, even if he doesn't want to know the details.
    • Leon tries to set up Deidre with his brother Nick even getting her to agree to give him a chance with a tea party to give him a shot.
    • Upon arriving in Alzer, Marie tries setting up Noel with Jean as she can see the other love interests such as Loic, and Pierre as lost causes to be better off avoided. She was shocked to learn Jean had used her advice to court some other girl.
    • The Five Princes are also this for Serge and his Unwanted Harem consisting of Noelle and Louise.
  • Soul Fragment: The Saint's Items each contain different memories and fragments of Anne's personality. The necklace has her love, the bracelet her anger, and her staff most likely has her sorrow. As each of the 3 only has a fraction of her memories, they need to gain all 3 to uncover the full story of what happened between her and the original founders.
  • Slasher Smile: Leon can grin maniacally fit to make Ryouma proud.
  • Spotting the Thread: Upon getting her hands on the Saint's staff, Olivia starts experiencing some of Ann's memories from her life. However, she noticed something was off that she wasn't experiencing said memories from Ann's point of view, which clues in that the spirit residing in the staff wasn't Ann, but her sister Mary.
  • Stepford Smiler: Its made clear that underneath her haughty exterior, Marie is still reeling from the psychological scars from the Trauma Conga Line of her past life in Chapter 42(Saga 3).
  • Superman Stays Out of Gotham: Marie decides to go to Alzer on her own with the Prince's Entourage, while Leon remains in Holfort.
  • Super Robot: The Black Getter is from a super robot show, so this is given.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Control to Luxion, though Control is more altruistic to help Leon.
  • Symbiotic Possession: Olivia eventually develops this with Anne, allowing her to take control of her body at certain points, even letting her have control to sleep with Leon.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Considering her husband is a philandering ManChild who blatantly favors his other mistresses over her and foists off the work of running the kingdom on her without any appreciation, Mylene gets a fair amount of sympathy in-universe for her affair with Leon who actively treats her with respect.
  • Three-Way Sex: And sometimes 4 or 5 way between Leon and his harem after they sort things out.
  • Titled After the Song: All of the arcs are named after music used on Getter Robo, Mobuseka, or related to them.
  • The Unapologetic: Marie is this. When Leon tries to talk her into apologizing to Olivia, Angelica, and Clarice, she is extremely reluctant to do so and blows off his request and her internal monologues indicate she could care less about them, deriding them as losers (or a monster in Olivia's case). When Angelica and Clarice confront her on how she stole their fiancees from them, she just brushes it off by pointing out that the previous issues between them meant neither engagement would have turned out right, which while not wrong is still a low blow, and that her breaking them off and letting them meet Leon worked out better for them.
  • Unperson: Upon taking over Olivia, Mary uses her Compelling Voice to forced Leon, Angelica and Clarice to answer if they knew who she was. When they respond to have no idea who she is, she realizes her name was most likely struck from historical records. This unfortunately, results in her deciding to head to the Principality and use her powers on the monsters and possible Getter there to ensure she will be remembered.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Upon regaining her bracelet, Anne goes into one at the sight of the disguised King Roland and immediately tries to kill him on the spot.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Discussed when Leon and Marie mention Serge coming to Holfort and the possibility of him taking umbrage against Leon due to his resemblance to the late Leon Sara Rault. Marie claims its a good thing Leon's Battle Harem aren't there as they'd not tolerate his attitude if they were there.
    • Clarice is especially enraged when confronting Zola for all the hardship she put Leon through and takes delight in breaking her jaw when arresting her. Mylene also makes it a point that they plan to get all the necessary information out of her by any means necessary.
  • Weapon-Based Characterization:
    • Leon now uses Getter Tomahawks as his main weapons.
    • Livia uses a handgun and rifle in tandem with her magic when fighting.
  • Wham Episode: Chapter 41 (Saga 2) is this, as Hertrude reveals how Fanoss has gotten their hands on a Getter D2 unit, and have been using the captured Elves as a substitute power source.
  • Wham Line: After Angelica and Clarice berate Leon for helping Marie, Leon decides to take Olivia's advice of proper communication, trust, and understanding to heart.
Leon: What do the three of you know about alternate worlds and reincarnation?
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Angelica and Clarice both have this reaction to Leon for (unintentionally) seducing the Queen despite them asking him specifically not to do so. The two even consider breaking off their engagements.
    • Later on in (Say Goodbye loneliness 4), both Angelica and Clarice call out Leon for going well above and beyond in helping Marie, the girl who hurt both of them the most.
  • Would Hurt a Child: When seeing that the Getter D2 unit is near activation, Vandel considers Hertrauda's comatose state from the failed attempt to it irrelevent so long as he can continue his vengeance against Holfort.
  • Yandere: Mary, Ann's sister whose spirit resided in the Saint's staff, was greatly attached to her sister Anne and plans vengeance against the people of Holfort due to Lea and the founders stealing her from her when she settled down with Lea.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: in chapter 35 (Say Goodbye Loneliness-2) Olivia ends up being on both the giving and receiving end of this. Upon revealing she used Compelling Voice on herself because she felt unworthy of Leon, both Angelica and Clarice reassure her that she deserves him fully. Olivia in turn reassures them that even with their recent spat, the two also deserve Leon as well and convince him to give another chance and properly talk things through.
