Fanfic / Helluva Wizard

Go To

Helluva Wizard, formerly known as 'BWL Meets IMP', is a Fanfic written by DWAR. It's a crossover fic with Harry Potter and Helluva Boss.

It centers on the Immediate Murder Professionals as they take a contract by someone Vernon Dursley got on the wrong side of in the past. They inevitably find Harry, and he ends up being adopted by Moxxie and Millie.

Helluva Wizard contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Harry is already quite proficient in magic by the time he gets to Hogwarts. He is also trained in multiple forms of deadly weaponry. Being raised in Hell will do that to you.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Harry, having been raised in Hell, isn't as nice to the characters from his own franchise as he was in canon. His interactions with Hermione are the best example of this. He openly dislikes her for her arrogance regarding her intelligence and blind worship of the rules and thinks nothing of letting her know this in ways that are bordering on cruel.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Stella isn't out to kill her husband in this version, and actually comes around to the idea of having Blitzo as part of their marriage. Still divorces Stolas once he starts making his relationship public.
  • A Hell of a Time: While Sirius Black's recklessness condemned him to Hell when a sinner demon hired IMP to kill him due to the Frame Job Pettigrew did, he's not that upset, as he is free from Azkaban, his health is restored to him as a demon, and he quickly makes new friends in Vortex and Charlie. And is currently engaged in a sexual relationship with BOTH Cherri Bomb and Verosika Mayday.
  • Animal Motifs: As any denizen of Hell, the Dursleys change drastically into an Animalistic Abomination that fits their sins. The gluttonous Dudley becomes a pig demon, the eavesdropping Petunia gains a long neck like a giraffe, and the slothful Vernon becomes a walrus demon.
  • Asshole Victim: Nobody is going to be shedding any tears over the Dursleys. The first time or the second time they die. And the abuse Draco suffers on a constant basis is well deserved.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Stella constantly insults Blitzo, and he takes great pleasure in provoking her. They also regularly have sex. Also applies to Sirius Black and Verosika Mayday.
  • Break Them by Talking: Harry attempts this on Snape using knowledge gained from someone in Hell he killed. Break may be a strong word, but it certainly gets under his skin something fierce.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Dudley soils himself when Blitzo kills Vernon.
  • Corruption of a Minor: Despite Moxxie and Millie being pretty nice as demons go, this was pretty much inevitable the second they decided to raise Harry.
  • Creepy Child:
    • A few of the Hogwarts teachers think this of Harry. Dumbledore even notices a few similarities to Tom Riddle.
    • In chapter 32, Harry says many child demons act out this trope for a fun game.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Harry and Moxxie manage to kill Valentino, an Overlord of Hell; the former dealt most of the damage while the latter delivered the killing blow.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Sirius Black died courtesy of Bellatrix hitting him with the killing curse in the Ministry of Magic in canon. Here? He's executed by Millie in Azkaban for his false betrayal of Harry.
    • Also the fate of D.H.O.R.K.S. For even though Harry had the foresight to hit them with a memory charm, Loona and Octavia decided to make sure they wouldnt be a future problem by dousing them in gasoline.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Harry's manner of dealing with Malfoy's bullying is... excessive to say the least.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Millie is an imp who has far lower moral standards than her husband Moxxie, and is far more willing to commit brutal acts of violence. That being said, when she learns that Harry was being forced to live in a cupboard under the stairs by his aunt and uncle, she is absolutely livid, screaming that she would drown them in their own blood.
    • Verosika Mayday may be a succubus who enjoys tempting just about anyone with lust, but she refuses to corrupt children. She states that sleeping with anyone prepubescent is against her personal rules and makes sure to never even swear in front of them.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Harry openly dislikes Hermione for her know-it-all personality and worship of the rules, but even he is shown to disapprove of Ron pointing out that she has no friends.
  • Fate Worse than Death: A variant. For Striker, becoming the sexual play thing of Sallie May.
  • The Glorious War of Sisterly Rivalry: After their folks enter a three-way relationship, Loona and Octavia basically become step-sisters. Their abrasive attitudes cause them to constantly argue and get into fights like siblings do.
  • God Is Good: The Reveal in Chapter 25. God loves all his creations equally, and he wants everyone to join Him in Heaven. The only problem is the flawed system of Heaven and Hell that condemns more than it rewards. He's also not the one responsible for the angels' purges of Hell: that's them assuming that their desires are His. Indeed, while He gushes over the love between Lily and James and deeply saddened by the effect of their deaths on Harry's life, He's overjoyed to see that despite Moxxie and Millie being creatures of Hell, they still gave Harry the love and support he needed. Finally, God is ultimately able to avert Black-and-White Insanity, understanding that dark doesn't always mean bad and light does not always mean good.
  • Happily Adopted: Harry is perfectly happy to be Moxxie and Millie's adopted son and even outright rejects his own angelic parents in favour of them.
  • Mama Bear: Combine an absolute love for her adoptive son with a violent attitude and much looser morals than Moxxie, and the result is Millie's protectiveness of Harry. She declares that if she ever encounters the Dursleys, she will have no problem pumping them full of lead.
  • Mercy Kill: A variant. Lily and James Potter, now working as Exterminators, decide to make their vengeance against Petunia and Dudley as painless as possible. Vernon's death, on the other hand, they make sure to draw out...
  • Never My Fault: Vernon Dursley blames Harry for the fact that he and his family are in hell instead of realizing that they only ended up there because they were horrible people in life.
  • Not His Sled: Striker still makes his canon appearance and has the same motive, but Stella was not the one who hired him. It was Vox.
  • Odd Friendship: Quiet, vaguely antisocial, and regularly violent Harry and cheerful, friendly, extroverted Tonks get along surprisingly well.
  • Papa Wolf: Moxxie manages to kill Valentino because he dared to kidnap and attack Harry, his adopted son. Granted, Harry dealt most of the damage and Moxxie just delivered the killing blow, but still, it's an impressive feat nonetheless. He's on the warpath in general during this arc, along with his wife and the rest of Harry's family and friends.
    • James Potter is perfectly willing to join the Exorcists along with his wife and to storm Hell itself solely to rescue Harry and destroy the Dursleys.
    • Blitzo and Stolas both get very protective of their daughters in regards to their friendship with Harry, particularly in regards to the possibility of something more than friendship developing in the future.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Striker, if him calling Sallie May (who is a trans woman) a "hermaphrodite" is any indication.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: The story begins with the death of an unnamed rival of Vernon Dursley, who drove the man to suicide because Vernon felt the man could win "Best Salesman". The unnamed salesman, wanting posthumous vengeance on the Dursley family, decides to hire the Immediate Murder Professionals to take care of them, leading the Imps to meet Harry Potter.
  • Polyamory: Stolas, Stella, and Blitzo are in a relationship together.
  • Right Through the Wall: To say that Octavia suffers from this due to her father and mother having Blitzo spend the night on a regular basis would be putting it mildly.
  • Sleeping with the Boss: A perk Sirius gets to fully enjoy after he's been a member of Verosika's security detail for a little while.
  • Tears of Joy: Millie sheds these when she hears Harry call her "mom".
  • Wham Line: Stolas sensing Harry in chapter 4 leads to THIS doozy of a line, one that even the members of I.M.P are shocked by:
Stolas: Is that so. Then can you explain why I am sensing the presence of another Overlord in your work space?
  • Would Hurt a Child: Valentino has absolutely no qualms about partaking in his usual brand of evil despite Harry's age. Blitzo also applies due to him being an assassin and would have killed Harry if it weren't for Loona sniffing out Dudley.
    • Striker, too. Harry is an additional target alongside Stolas.
  • Young Gun: Harry is quite proficient in firearms and carries one around regularly while in Hell.
