Ghoul Detective is a series made by Lea17. It revolves around a mega-crossover between Case Closed, Tokyo Ghoul, Animorphs, Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Naruto. It tells a story about Ken Kaneki, a young half-ghoul who was adopted by Morofushi brothers. He and Conan have to fight against Black Organization with their allies while facing difficult choices regarding their decision to share the secret.

This fanfic includes the examples of the following tropes:
- Abled in the Adaptation: The ghouls are able to eat normal foods in this verse instead of just human flesh. The Hork-Bajir species who only have the intelligence level of a toddler in canon are more intelligent with Dak Hamee becoming an MI6 agent along with his wife. The nothlits are also nonexistent in this verse.
- Abusive Parents:
- Alloran is implied to be abusive as he views Estrid, his daughter as nothing but a burden due to his sexist view.
- Reiner and Kaneki's families treated them as slaves in the past. Luckily, Reiner and Kaneki got adopted (Reiner by his aunt and uncle and Kaneki by Komei and Hiro).
- Adaptational Backstory Change: In Red Threads of Fate, Shiratori and Sumiko introduced themselves during their first meeting, leading Shiratori to recognize her years after their first meeting and in the end, got engaged before the start of the series.
- Chiba and Naeko met when Naeko couldn't find a way to the city library. Chiba took her there and gave Naeko a teddy bear keychain as a memento for her when she was about to move from Tokyo during their summer holiday.
- Chiba befriended Akemi Miyano, who was his upperclassman when no one wanted to befriend him because he was fat.
- Akemi and Shiho got to escape from BO and got to live with their relatives in Tokyo.
- Adaptational Badass: Most of the characters become badass on their own thanks to their involvement with the resistance against BO.
- Even the Cloud Cuckoolander Yamamura has his own moment of badassery by biting Vermouth's arm when she took him hostage, avoided every single bullet she shot, and managed to injure and disarm her.
- Ran, Kazuha, and Aoko also got their own moment by solving the murder case of Bell Tree Express.
- Adaptational Heroism: Curacao and Irish, the BO members who died in canon become the allies of Conan and Co. and work at Anteiku after experiencing Heel–Face Turn courtesy of Hiro and Kaneki.
- Adaptational Jerkass: Naruto and Ed are more jerkass compared to their canon selves as they are extremely envious of Kaneki. They even call him Mr. Goody-Two-Shoes to emphasize their envy.
- Alloran is way more narcissistic than in canon too.
- Adaptational Job Change:
- Kogoro Mouri who is a freelance detective in canon never quits the police force and rises to the rank of inspector.
- Takagi, Chiba, Sato, and Shiratori become PSB agents after their confrontation against Vermouth and Calvados with Takagi and Sato promoted to the inspector rank.
- Adaptational Villainy: Hyoue Kuroda is perceived as a narcissistic bigoted policeman in the story while Vermouth is more ambitious and more deranged than in canon as shown when she got confronted by Sato and Chiba on the train during Bell Tree incident with Chiba giving her an Armor-Piercing Response regarding Renya's favoritism towards her.
- Adults Are Useless: For a while, Shiratori wasn't listening to the Detective Boys' warning about a serial killer.
- All of the Other Reindeer: There's a chapter titled based on this trope. In this chapter, it is revealed that the people with creature inheritance and traits are ostracized terribly by humans. The characters discussed their own past experiences of being outcasts.
- Amazonian Beauty: Aldrea, Rachel, and Yui are described as muscular and strong by their friends and family. Even the Edogawa triplets were astonished by Aldrea's muscles when she confronted Lupin after the thief tasered her and stole her clothes, leaving her in her undergarment.Edogawa triplets: That's some muscles she gets there...
- Amazon Chaser: Arbron complains about how every man in the Fangor family happens to be an Amazon chaser. Kansuke and Komei are also implied to be this as they are attracted by Yui's strength and skills in martial arts.Arbron: Sheesh, just like Elfangor and Aximilli before him. Why, every man in the Fangor family happens to be an Amazon chaser?
- Arata Kirishima is this since he fell in love with Hikari who was a teen rebel at that time because of her strength and strong personality.
- Kaneki also falls for Touka, a hot-blooded and short-tempered female ghoul.
- Ascended Extra: Many characters such as Eisuke, Ethan, Naeko, and Tsutomu get their own time to shine.
- The policemen are also more active in helping Conan to solve cases and helping him to take down BO and Washuu Clan.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The Nagano triad grew taller and become this as the result with their tallest height is 25 meters tall. Thankfully, things get better for them and they become Sizeshifter in the end.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: The Nagano triad desperately wanted to have children. Vermouth takes the advantage of it by injecting hormone toxin which causes them to experience hormone overload and experience an insatiable lust.
- Shuichi even lampshades it by mentioning the novel Coraline and its film adaptation. Shiho also invokes this trope by mentioning the moral value of the story.
- Dak invoked this trope when he heard Toby's wish to grow taller, citing his own past experience.
- Ayato wished to see the real proof of Kaneki's story about the Nagano triad and their Sizeshifter abilities, only to get lifted Kansuke shortly after.
- Beware of the Nice Ones: Hiromitsu and Kaneki are kind and gentle to everyone. But, if someone threatens their friends and loved ones, they will go berserk.
- Big Brother Mentor: Shuichi is this to his siblings and to Shiho and Akemi, as Elena and Atsushi were killed in a car accident planned by Pisco, Gin, and Vodka to kill the entire Miyano family.
- Hiro and Komei serve as this to Kaneki, especially Hiro who taught him about compassion, justice, and self-love.
- Big "WHAT?!": Takagi had two of these moments:
- When he learned that Shinichi got shrunk and that Rei and Hiro are secret agents who plan to take down an international crime syndicate.
- He later had this again when Kakashi revealed himself and Aldrea as MI6 agents.
- The Wild Police Squad (minus Hiro) had this reaction when Seerow Hamee was revealed as Aldrea's son.
- Bring Me My Brown Pants: Aldrea has a tendency to scare people with her Hair-Trigger Temper. Hagi, Jinpei, Kogoro, Tsutomu, Elfangor, some Red Shirts agents, Shinichi, Heiji, and Kaito are the unfortunate ones who wet their pants.
- Bullying a Dragon:
- Yamori took Komei and Kansuke as hostages, so Kaneki would come to save them. His plan worked for a while after he taunted the half-ghoul and turned the duo into kakuja. He only realized the effect of his deeds after the agents and his hostages gave him a Curb-Stomp Battle.
- Ed and Naruto constantly bullied Kaneki during his school days. They finally got what they deserved after they decided to steal Kaneki's diary as blackmail material. Things didn't end well for them obviously.
- Disappeared Dad: Ginzo Nakamori in a sense is this. Since his wife's death in the hands of Gin, he rarely spends his time with Aoko, being distant towards her and more focused on his job to drown his sorrow. After finding out the truth behind his wife's death, Nakamori realized his mistakes and finally reconciles with Aoko.
- Grisha Yeager in a sense is also this since he rarely spends his time with his sons, especially Eren. In truth, he is a BND agent who goes undercover to investigate Washuu Clan's illegal experiments.
- Disguised in Drag:
- Rei, Hiro, and Shuichi enjoy disguising themselves as women for honeypot missions.
- Arbron disguises himself as a female shamisen player to buy time for Kaneki and Co. to enter a serial killer hideout.Arbron: What do you want me to do? Dress in drag and play shamisen?!
(All eyes focus on Arbron)
Jinpei: Well, you know? That’s a good idea
Arbron: Well, who’s gonna be the bait?

- Drives Like Crazy: Aldrea, Mary, and Sato drive like crazy, complete with an unholy shriek to top it off. Kazami and Camel describe Aldrea's driving as akin to 'riding the Hell's horse chariot' while Matsuda and Hagi call Mary 'a scary blonde banshee with crazy driving skills'. Mary was also called 'The Queen of Racers' during her teenage years.
- Shuichi also counts since he learned how to drive from his mother.
- Ear Ache: Komei twisted the triplets' ears after finding out about their shenanigans in the tennis match in London.
- Entertainingly Wrong: People in London mistook Dak as a revived dinosaur in the past because there was no Hork-Bajir ever leaving their valley before.
- Explosive Breeder: Discussed. When Kansuke told Komei that they will have at least a dozen kids, Nakamori couldn't help but comment on how much it was. Kansuke countered by telling him how he and his mates (Yui and Komei) desperately wanted children. Justified, since Komei spent most of his childhood being separated from Hiromitsu and Yui experienced poisoning two months after their wedding.
- Extreme Doormat:
- Komei also invoked this trope when he tore Ed and Naruto for their envy towards Kaneki and their immaturity.
“Do you still remember how you bullied him? Hiding his things and treating him like a doormat during his early days? Oh, I forgot to mention that you also damaged his projects to sabotage him. Poor Hanji-san had to retire from her dream job because of it. It took years for him to recover from his trauma. He had to go to a psychiatrist because of it.”
- Fantastic Racism: The series is set in a universe where magical creatures are highly despised by humans, similar to Tokyo Ghoul. The vampires, werewolves, and ghouls receive the worst treatment. Kuroda calls them 'mutated canines', 'filthy bloodsuckers', and 'human eaters'. Some of the main casts and supporting characters fall into the said categories.
- Fire-Forged Friends: Kaneki and Tobias are friends since they were kids who bonded over their lack of friends. Overlapped with First Friend.
- Flower Motifs:
- Kaneki brought a flower bouquet full of white lilies, carnations, marigolds, baby breaths, and last but not least, red and white spider lilies. He also brought young buds of the spider lilies to be planted at Kuroto’s tomb. Those flowers symbolize death.
- Osmanthus flowers at Kuroto's tomb after Furinkazan Case was closed symbolize Kuroto's soul who is finally able to rest in peace. They're also associated with Kaneki as the flower of knowledge.
- Sakura becomes the flower motif for the policemen in Japan as it is the symbol of their emblem.
- Vermouth is heavily associated with yellow lilies and snapdragons, symbolizing her deceitful nature. She's also associated with hydrangea, which symbolizes vain.
- Fur Against Fang: Played with, Kansuke and Komei sometimes argue, but in fact, they are Happily Married with each other and form a triad relationship with Yui. Their nicknames to each other ('mutt' for Kansuke and 'leech' for Komei) are actually affectionate nicknames towards each other.
- Glamour Failure: Aldrea knew Lupin was an imposter because the thief didn't know the meaning of dhalashi and kawatnoj words. Since the real Dak Hamee is a Hork-Bajir, it's too easy for her to spot the difference.
- Groin Attack:
- Kaneki kicked Tsutomu in the crotch when the latter (in disguise to test him) tried to kidnap Conan.
- Masumi kicked Roy Mustang's groin after he made fun of her flat chest.
- Loren kicked her kidnapper in the groin when she was a teenager.
- She later did it again to the shogi serial murderer.
- Aldrea vowed to give Lupin a lesson after the latter tasered her and stripped her clothes by giving him a kick in the groin.
- She and Touka later delivered groin attacks to Lupin's crotch as retaliation for the previous incident (for Aldrea) and for his perverted behavior (asking Touka to show her panties).
- Happily Adopted: Kaneki and Reiner after they were freed from their abusive family.
- Hinami by Wataru and Natalie after her parents' death in the hands of Kijima.
- Irony: Hagi speaks about how ironic it is to have the ostracized people as the strongest members of law enforcement in the bigoted society.Hagi: Well, a bunch of weirdos gathered together because they were not accepted by the bigoted society. But in the end, they become the most formidable force in law enforcement organizations. What an irony (laughed).
- Intergenerational Friendship: Kuroto Kai, Kansuke and Yui's role model was one of Kaneki's first friends besides Tobias. Their relationship is very similar to Elena and Rei's relationship in canon verse. Even their last conversation is a nod to canon where Elena bids farewell to Rei. Kaneki is also a good friend of the adults, especially the police officers who come to respect and adore him.
- Interspecies Romance:
- Elfangor (an andalite) and Loren (a human).
- Tobias (a half-andalite) and Rachel (a human).
- Dak Hamee (a Hork-Bajir) and Aldrea (an andalite).
- Shiratori (a ghoul) and Sumiko (a human).
- Date Wataru (a werewolf) and Natalie (a human).
- Seerow Hamee (Hork-Bajir-andalite hybrid) and Hessat Halad (a Hork-Bajir).
- Tsutomu Akai (a werewolf) and Mary Akai (a vampire).
- Their sons also fall in love with someone outside their species. Yumi (a human) for Shukichi, Rei and Hiro (werewolf and vampire) for Shuichi.
- Elena (a vampire) and Atsushi (a human).
- Kaneki (a half-ghoul) and Touka (a pure-blooded ghoul).
- The Nagano triad (A werewolf (Kansuke) with a vampire (Komei) and a ghoul (Yui)).
- Komei and Hiro's paternal great-great-grandfather was a werewolf.
- It's All About Me: Alloran has this attitude. It even takes up a notch where he sings a song about himself, akin to Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. Takagi calls him out for it.
- Lethal Chef: Hikari and Touka Kirishima are terrible at cooking. In fact, Arata is the one who does the cooking since his wife's cooking is mostly inedible. Ayato describes his sister's cooking as 'the mixture of sandpaper and house paint with a little bit of asphalt'. Hikari's homemade curry even once knocked Tsutomu out with a single bite.
- Averted in Eri's case because Yukiko taught her how to cook after she got married to Kogoro.
- My God, What Have I Done?:
- Toichi had this reaction when he realized one of his students was an international-class criminal.
- Shiratori's reaction when he realized that the Detective Boys were right about the serial killer.
- Yumi Miyamoto after Miwako chided her for her gossip-spreading habit which could've destroyed the Akai family's life.
- Conan also had this reaction upon learning that Renya Karasuma tried to kill Kaneki who is prophesied as the one who will end him and Washuu Clan.
- Nakamori had one when he realized that he ignored his daughter for a decade after his wife's death.
- Kansuke and Komei had one when they finally snapped back to reality after Kai gave them a slap in their mental world.
- Named by the Adaptation:
- Arbron is named as Arbron-Temur-Hiraf in the series while Seerow Hamee's unnamed wife is named Hessat Halad.
- Curacao and Irish are named as Anya and Hubert respectively after their defection from BO.
- Aldrea is named Aldrea Hamee in the series, but she chooses to keep using her maiden name in order to hide her connection with Dak Hamee from BO.
- Dak's alias a BO member is Abel Espier. Espier itself means spy in Old French language.
- Hiro's alias after he escaped from BO is Daisuke Kanagawa.
- Heiji and Kaito are named Amano and Thomas Edogawa respectively after they got shrunk by Gin.
- Not with Them for the Money: Rei and Hiro truly loves Shuichi, not because he is well-off, unlike Shuichi's gold-digger female coworkers.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: The series has the strong ones:
- Aldrea gave one to Shiratori for dismissing the Detective Boys' testimony about a serial killer. Doubles as What the Hell, Hero?:“You shouldn’t ignore clues and testimonies from the witnesses no matter what, be it from adults or from children! Now you’re reaping what you sowed, Shiratori-keibu.”
- Kaneki gave a sharp one to the aforementioned serial murder culprit:“What a bullshit. Even though you were indeed abused by those people, that doesn’t and won’t justify your killings. Not all people are fit to be teachers. People who are fit to be teachers are following their call of life. Our jobs are the calls of our life and each of us has different calls of life. Not all teachers are bad. There are good and passionate teachers too. With doing all of these crimes, there’s no difference between you and your former teachers and former principal!”
- Miwako Sato to Yumi Miyamoto regarding her gossip-spreading habit:Yumi came home exhausted. She got an extra three hours lecture from Hatake-keibu after the incident. She took out her phone and contacted Miwako, “Miwako, I need your help…” “Save it, Yumi. Your behavior at the office was totally embarrassing. I’d never expected to see my best friend would turn out to be like this, an unashamed gossip mill. To be honest, I thought you would act mature when you broke up with your boyfriend, but it turned out, no. You didn’t even consider your boyfriend’s feelings if the rumor about his brother leaked to everyone,” Miwako scowled. Yumi gaped and stuttered, “W-what? They are brothers? How did you know?” “Hatake-keibu told me after he lectured you guys. Shuichi-san’s parents are Chief Aldrea’s long-time friends,” said Miwako from her end. Yumi went pale at the revelation. She realized that she had messed things up. “Takagi-kun did the right thing. He saved your boyfriend’s older brother’s reputation from being utterly destroyed by you. More than that, he saved the whole MPD and PSB’s reputation from being tarnished. He also respects Furuya-san and Hiro-san because they were Date-san’s classmates back then at the academy. You should be ashamed of yourself, Yumi. You are the worst friend I’ve ever had in my life. From now on, I’m no longer your friend, unless you fully realized your mistake and set the things right with your ex and his family, got it?” “W-wait, Miwako…” but it was too late. Miwako already ended the call. Yumi curled up in regret and cried herself to sleep.
- Shukichi gave Yumi a short and harsh one after the incident:Shukichi: (hoarsely) What are you doing here?
Yumi: I’m... I’m really sorry...
Shukichi: (laughs bitterly) Oh, sorry, you said? You nearly ruined nii-san’s life! Do you have any idea about how dangerous it could get?! - Takagi gave one to Kijima regarding his view about dying as a despised creature.Takagi: How it feels like? How it feels like, you said? People like you make us suffer! You heartless people really take joy in persecuting innocent people who you considered as trash only because they’re not humans! I really hate people like that. Your narrow-minded mindset is what makes you the worst trash ever existed. Is it wrong to just want to live?
- Takagi also gave one to Alloran regarding his arrogance. This earned praises from everyone.Takagi: How pitiful...
(Everyone was surprised when they heard it from Takagi, of all people.)
Date: (astonished) Takagi?
Takagi: How pitiful. You are so insecure that you always praise yourself and you always say that nobody in this world is greater than you. Your atrocity towards Toby-chan is the proof. You can’t accept the fact that Chief Aldrea is more successful than you. You can’t accept the fact that Dak-san is very intelligent. You took out your resentment on Toby-chan by trying to destroy her dream. You humiliated Mertil-san and mocked him for being a vecol. You called the people who asked for your help as freaks. You are so narrow-minded, thinking that the world only revolves around you. You are hated by everyone, even by your own daughter. No wonder nobody likes you. You are the worst. Well, I guess you are the only one who can match Kuroda for that. Just remember this, Alloran-Semitur-Corrass. Your days are numbered. Mark my words.
(Alloran's face turned dark in anger)
(Everyone fell into silence at Takagi's words)
Alloran: <Fine then, one day you will crawl to me and beg for forgiveness. I’ll make sure of that,>
Takagi: Just go ahead and give it a try, Alloran-san. I know you won’t.
(Alloran stomped away in annoyance)
Jinpei: (laughs) No one cries like Alloran! No one bullies like Alloran! No one falls like Alloran! No one’s vain is like Alloran! No one throws tantrum like Alloran! Nice one, Takagi-keibu! - Kansuke and Komei gave one to Yamori during their time as Yamori's hostage.“How foolish,” Komei laughed. Yamori snapped his neck in rage, “What?!” “How foolish. Do you think you can get away scot-free after so many people you killed? You torture weak people for fun. You think that you are strong by torturing them. You are dead wrong. That only proves that you are really weak. Weak as hell. You never learn from your lesson, Jason. Your day of reckoning is about to come,” “He’s right.” Kansuke grinned mockingly at Yamori, “We werewolves are tight-knitted as a pack. If one of us gets hurt, the other members of the pack will fight for that injured member. Haise is the youngest member of the pack aside from Masumi and Shiho. If you dare to hurt any of our pups, we’ll rain you with endless pain and hell. Remember that, Yakumo Oomori!”
- Everyone chewed out Ed and Naruto for their behavior and immaturity, They also tore them a new one for their envy towards Kaneki and accused him as an attention whore. In the end, Kaneki also joined as well as his patience wore thin.
- Aldrea gave one to Shiratori for dismissing the Detective Boys' testimony about a serial killer. Doubles as What the Hell, Hero?:
- Shout-Out: The buildup to Arbron disguising himself as a female shamisen player to act as a distraction is taken nearly verbatim from The Lion King (1994).
- Sickeningly Sweethearts: The Whiskey Trio and Nagano triad are proved to be this as shown by their affection towards each other, regardless of their surroundings.
- Spared by the Adaptation: Many characters in this verse are spared from death such as Toichi, Curacao, Irish, Hiro, Date, etc.
- Spit Take: Occurs several times in the series.
- Kakashi choked on his drink when Shuichi said that he began to like Rei and Hiro.
- Dak did this with his coffee after he heard Toby's wish to grow taller.
- He did this again, this time with his orange juice when he found out that the Nagano triad continued to experience a growth spurt.
- Ayato spat his milk after he sensed someone was talking about his height.
- Tobias spat his coffee onto Kaneki's face after he heard Rachel was going to braid his hair.
- Minerva Glass arc has plentiful of these.
- Jotaro Matsuda (Jinpei's father) had this reaction when he saw the triplets on the TV.
- Megure and Nakamori spat out their coffee when they saw the triplets on TV as well.
- Komei choked on his tea.
- Shukichi spat out his miso soup.
- Eren and Zeke spat out their drinks.
- Supreme Chef: Arata Kirishima and Akemi Miyano are this. Akemi is specialized in making baked goods and sweets and is called by Ayumi as the best baker in Beika along with Yoriko.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom:
- Yumi Miyamoto spreads a rumor about an FBI agent who marries two PSB agents. Unbeknownst to her, said agent is actually her ex-boyfriend's older brother, Shuichi Akai, who faked his death to escape from BO. By spreading the rumor, it would become very risky for Akai and Morofushi families as their members (Shuichi and Hiro) are said agents and Rei's cover could've been blown if it wasn't for Takagi's intervention. Miwako called her out for it and it left her in tears, dearly regretting her actions, before finally reconciled with her ex-boyfriend and starts their relationship anew.
- Jinpei and Hagi are the ones who spread the rumor in the first place.
- Conan (Shinichi) is this as his recklessness caused Renya Karasuma's devil minions to almost capturing Kaneki. He also caused Kakashi and Rei's covers to get blown as well.
- Toichi Kuroba is the one who taught Vermouth the art of disguise, indirectly causing the deaths of countless people.
