While out doing Magical Girl Shit, you, Rachel (no, not that one), accidentally stick your nose in the world of Capes. You will most certainly Regret this.

Gestalt is a Worm / Puella Magi Madoka Magica crossover written by Dalek Ix.

Written in second person and presented in the style of a Quest, it centers on Rachel Zoranski, a Puella Magi living in Brockton Bay. While hunting for Witches in Winslow High, she stumbles upon three girls filling a locker with waste for a prank.

Needless to say, Rachel doesn't find it nearly as funny as they do.

Throwing The Locker into a Witch's "face" and thus derailing Worm's canon plot, Rachel next finds herself in the misery of Winslow High, juggling school bullies, racial gangs, unpleasant Capes, hostile neighbors, the local magically-empowered Troll, her family and her newest friend, one Taylor Hebert.

It can only get worse from here.

Gestalt can be found on Sufficient Velocity and the Spacebattles forums.

Gestalt provides examples of:

  • Badass Boast: Rachel gives an absolutely, eerily beautiful one to the trio:
"By they way... Little word of warning: If I find any surprises inside my locker... or Taylor's..."
You can feel your cheeky demeanour evaporate, and allow the Puella Magi to show through. Emma and Madison take a step back at the look you give them, although you have to give Shadow Stalker credit for not backing down.
    "I will change your lives."
  • Badass Normal: Taylor Hebert. Lacking any powers at all, she accompanies Rachel and Sarah into a Barrier with only an enchanted crowbar and contributes more to the hunt than even she expected to; enough that Rachel gives her the Witch's Grief Seed at the end.
    • Evangeline and "Uncle". They're older non-cape members of the Empire 88 and the Azn Bad Boyz, respectively, who nonetheless manage to weather Glory Girl's aura and attention without much trouble.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Witches, as usual.
Taylor: You could feel something inside of you recoil at the sight of the Witch. Some deep, primal part of yourself that just knows that This Thing Should Not Be. That it is Wrong. You've heard the word "Abomination" get tossed around by some of the louder E88 gangsters, and you suddenly have the urge to grab one by the hair and drag them here, because this is what "Abomination" means.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Played with. Rachel's brother and her aunt are both members of The Empire 88. The former has been raising Rachel on his own after something happened to their father and their mother withdrew, and the latter is every millimetre the doting loving aunt. Rachel's relationship with her brother is strained due to his ideology after she realized how vile it is, and her aunt's genuine love, acceptance and support triggers something of a moral crisis in Rachel.
  • Eviler than Thou: Evangeline Zoranski. Few people can look at a gang of Neo-Nazis and assorted racial supremacists and quietly seethe that they're not extreme enough.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Rachel's happened before the story started. She's still got a lot of work to do, though.
  • More Dakka: Rachel's machine gun has a firing rate so great that the resulting stream of bullets blurs together and looks like a laser.
  • One-Steve Limit: Played Straight in the fic itself so far, but Averted in context of canon Worm. The fic's main character is Rachel, no relation, and it prominently features Sarah, also no relation.
  • Small Girl, Big Gun: Rachel's weapon is a machine gun as long as she is tall.
