Within it, the story creates a story in which Cybertron society has rules similar to those of Game of Thrones, with several highborn families ruling the planet. Beginning with the murder of Zeta Prime, the story focuses on several characters, including:

• Megatron: a southern miner turned gladiator who organizes a revolution against the highborn.
• A Three: the First Prime and turned tutor of house Pax.
• Sentinel Prime: The New Prime
• Prowl: The cop investigating Zeta Prime's Murder
• Mindwipe: A recruit to the Wardens of the Gate, secretly The Mole working for the sparkeaters.
• Orion Pax: A young Mech born under impossible circumstances, adopted into house Pax. Implied to be the last surviving member of the extinct house Convoy.

• Adaptational Badass: Alpha Trion is more than just the archivist, he is the first Prime.
• Enemy Mine: When the sparkeaters emerge, the Autobots, Decepticons, and highborn unite to defeat them.
• Faking the Dead: While A-Three is known to be alive, most of Cybertron believes that Alpha Trion, aka Primon, the first Prime is long dead.
• Gender Flip: Prima is traditionally a male character. In this story, she's a female.
• Going Native: Inverted; exposure to Orion Pax causes Wreck-Gar to use more civilized language than traditional Junkion Dialect.
• Meaningful Rename: When characters take up a mantle of leadership, they take on a new name:
  • Sentinel Honourum becomes Sentinel Prime upon becoming Prime.
  • His ancestor, Gallus Honourum, took the name Guardian Prime when he became Prime.
  • Upon becoming the new leader of her house after their near complete slaughter at the hands of the Decepticons, Elita Solus took the name Elita One.
  • On Junkion Orion Pax was named Pax Lo-Gar, after attaining a position of authority in Junkion society.
• Mythology Gag:
  • In chapter 12, Grimlock interrogates two tiny but mighty gladiators and notes that he couldn't recall which one was Rumble or Frenzy, referencing the longtime debate as to whether Rumble is the red one and Frenzy is the blue one or vice versa. For the record, in this case, Frenzy is the blue one, and Rumble is red.
• Reasonable Authority Figure:
  • House Pax as a whole is among the most honorable on Cybertron.
    • Officer Orion Pax is one of the only cops who doesn't let highborns get away with whatever they want.
  • Wreck-Gar is a fair and just leader on his home planet of Junkion.
• Uriah Gambit: Sentinel reassigns Orion Pax to Rodion, Polyhex when he fails to press false charges against him for arresting Lucox Honorum and his cronies for assaulting Hubcap, and A-3 threatens to expose him after attempting to hire bounty hunter, Lockdown, to prevent the possibility of him becoming Prime. It fails and he leans on Emir Militus Macht to get Orion Pax offed, who eventually sends out Megatron, after Orion repeatedly survives these staged encounters.
