Fanfic / Fate: Grand Eroge

Go To

Fate: Grand Eroge is a Fate/Grand Order Fanfic by SpatialPhoenix.

Ritsuka Fujimaru at first glance is someone you would call completely normal. Well... normal as you can be in the Fujimaru family. From a father that's known for a gambling streak, a mother that is a known national-level kickboxer who is prone to violence, to his sister Gudako who is BOTH, it is indeed a miracle that Ritsuka Fujimaru is able to keep his wits and sanity.

However... one morning when he wakes up, he sees a floating pink window congratulating him for becoming "The Protagonist." From there, after the normal blood transfusion, ending up in Chaldea and meeting a certain pink-haired kouhai he finally realizes what the floating window is about.

It's not The Gamer power as he thought it was.

It was a Dating Sim game.

Hugely inspired by SAO: The Eroge and Fate: Eroge Order, even calling it a love child of the two. However, it appears that the author is attempting to make the story different from the two in any aspect possible. For starters, the plot starts two weeks before the Grand Order even begins! If you wanted to read something bit different than usual, this is a fic for you.

You can find the fanfic here. On August 21, 2022, the author rebooted the story. Changes include Ritsuka now comes from an ordinary family. The old version can be found here.

Spoilers. Proceed with caution.

    Old Version
  • Action Survivor: Even before being introduced into the Moonlit World, Ritsuka lived a life similar to Kamijou Touma, as stated by the author. From riding on a herd of thespian llamas to being involved in taking out a drug cartel in Las Vegas, his life has been far more hectic than one would expect for someone with no connection to the supernatural. It should be noted though, as pointed out by Ritsuka himself, that while some of his adventures were downright bizarre, none of them had any hint of magical involvement and were all completely mundane occurrences.
  • Adaptational Badass: Ritsuka. While in the video game he was a Ridiculously Average Guy, in this fic he already knows how to fight thanks to his many misadventures growing up. However, his extraordinary level of combat ability still falls flat against Magi with proper training, as seen when Beryl effortlessly defeats him after ambushing him in his room.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance:
    • Because the plot starts two weeks before the explosion that starts off the events of canon, Ritsuka gets to meet all the Crypters beforehand and bond with them.
    • When Ritsuka attempts to summon a Servant, he ends up activating Mash's Shielder powers early.
  • Age-Gap Romance: Considering the very premise of the story, and the fact that Servants are technically at least a century old while Ritsuka is still a teenager, this is kind of a given.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Massively averted. The people who fall for Ritsuka do so because of his kind and open personality... as well as his knack for helping them solve their problems with minor assistance from his powers.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: Even before getting his skill Siren Song which put him above and beyond normal humans, Ritsuka was good enough that as an Idol Singer "Gudao" he managed to get a huge fanbase (Kadoc even being one of them!), saved his grandmother's orphanage and unknowingly earned huge amounts of money... which Gudako spent on a gacha game.
  • Bond Creature: Fou, who becomes Ritsuka's Familiar after being drawn to his pure heart and mistaking his Dating Sim powers as a mark of the Counter Force. The Beast of Disaster holds Ritsuka in a higher regard than even Mash because even though her heart is just as pure as his, Ritsuka grew up in normal society and thus was exposed to the ugliness of human civilization, making his purity all the more impressive in its eyes. Fou's pretty happy with the arrangement as well, since unlike Merlin, Ritsuka can actually cook and treats it with affection and respect.
  • The Charmer: Thanks to the combination of Ritsuka's Nice Guy tendencies along with the fact that he has a Dating Sim Gamer power, he "unlocks" 4 romantic routes within a week of gaining his abilities. Word of God states that this is also partially due to the fact that girls in general in Nasuverse tend to have it pretty bad.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Averted. Thanks to his powers literally telling Ritsuka the way others feel about him, this is kind of impossible. He also wasn't very dense to begin with.
  • Cry into Chest: Yu does this after Ritsuka tells her firmly that he accepts her and cares for her well-being despite her not being human.
  • Decomposite Character: In this story, the two Ritsukas are portrayed as siblings, although the female version is called by her Fan Nickname Gudako.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Even after getting a Choice Sequence for Ophelia, he still somehow ends up thinking that she is not a heroine because he didn't get notification yet. He finds out otherwise.
  • Featureless Protagonist: Massively averted. Although canon Ritsuka from the game most definitely fit that archetype, in this story he written as an actual character with his own personality, backstory, and feelings. However, significant elements of his canon character are still there, such as his lack of extraordinary magical aptitude beyond his perfect Rayshift and Master compatibility, both of which were granted by his Dating Sim abilities and weren't traits he possessed naturally. In fact, Wodime states that Ritsuka has 20 C-Rank Magical Circuits; the exact metric average for Magical Circuit Assessment.
  • The Gambling Addict: Ritsuka's father and his sister Gudako. Especially, Gudako who spent 12 million dollars on a gacha game.
  • Gut Feeling: Ritsuka has a keen intuition, most likely honed over time thanks to all of his experiences, that helps him gain a rudimentary picture of a person's character within minutes of meeting them. He was able to sense at a glance that Beryl was a murderer, and that neither he nor Lev Lainur could be trusted. The only person this subconscious ability doesn't seem to work on is Daybit, who Ritsuka likens to a "black hole" that didn't let any emotions leak out. It should be noted Dating Sim powers enhance this ability proportional to his "Intelligence" Stat.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Ritsuka wonders at first how his Gamer powers can be useful in dealing with the Grand Order. He then realizes it will help him bond with both his teammates and his Servants, and working together is extremely important.
  • Idol Singer: Ritsuka as Gudao apparently once in San Francisco.
  • Noodle Incident: Ritsuka's second calling. He doesn't like talking about it. At all.
  • Only Sane Man: In the Fujimaru Household, Ritsuka holds on. Barely.
  • Race Lift: Downplayed, but in the story Ritsuka and Gudako are portrayed as being half-American via their mother, with Ritsuka inheriting his blue eyes from her while his sister inherited her hair color. According to the author, this was done as a little reference to the fact that Fate: Grand Order has both JP and NA versions.
  • Supreme Chef: Ritsuka's skill, Faerie Feast makes him this.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Beryl Gut calls out the Crypters for not telling Ritsuka right away that they have to risk their lives to save the world and for not considering that several Clock Tower members might want to dissect Ritsuka to find out what makes him special. They grudgingly admit he has a point.
  • White Sheep: Compare Ritsuka with the rest of his family in the paragraph explaining the plot above. Just do it.

    New Version
  • Beyond the Impossible: Beryl Gut somehow gets a negative Servant Compatibility rating, even though the computer wasn't programmed for negative numbers.
  • Dump Stat: When he is given the option to allot his stat points, with his options being Luck, Charisma, Aura, and Wisdom, Ritsuka placed most of his initial ones into Charisma and Luck and putting the minimal amount into the latter two, citing personal experience from playing Dating Sims and Eroge as Charisma and Luck are considered more important early on in comparison.
  • Genre Savvy: Ritsuka upon gaining a pop-up of allocating his Stat points, realizes that his Gamer ability revolves around Dating Sim games.
  • That Was Not a Dream: Ritsuka thinks having an adventure in the simulator and gaining Gamer powers was a dream. He learns it wasn't when the boxes pop up in the real world and he fails to pinch himself awake.
  • Waking Up Elsewhere: Ritsuka wakes up in the simulator with no memory of what happened due to side effects. It is only after he beats it that he remembers joining Chaldea.
