All spoilers for the canon OMORI are unmarked. You have been warned.

False Heaven is an OMORI one-shot fanfic by Schrift. Openly inspired by Hands, yet taking place in a slightly different continuity, it explores what would happen if Mari was sexually abusive to Sunny during her life. However, this story revolves around a Sunny/Aubrey pairing and focuses on Aubrey's growing frustration with her inability to have a physical relationship with Sunny due to his aversion to touch.

False Heaven provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Mari wasn't a sexual predator to Sunny in the canon OMORI.
  • Broken Pedestal: Aubrey directly tells (a picture of) Mari how she betrayed her own friend group.
How many times did she pin Sunny down? How many times did everyone smile and laugh with Mari, unaware of her crimes? How many times did Mari wave off Sunny's mood when Aubrey asked about it....?
"HE TRUSTED YOU!" Another fist, and another web of cracks. "WE trusted you! And look what you did!" She tore off the paper, and pulled it up to her baleful gaze. "He lost four years because of YOU! He keeps having nightmares because of YOU! I-I have to stand there and—" She growled. "He's so scared.... and it's all. Your. FAULT!"
  • Cathartic Crying: Once Sunny finally offers to hug Aubrey and let her break down crying, she does so and safety vents her own trauma from Sunny's suffering to him.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Aubrey lets out five "Fuck you"s while beating up a picture of Mari.
Another wire snapped. "Fuck you—" A ripping noise. "Fuck you." Rip. "Fuck you!" Rip. Rip. "FUCK YOU!" Rip. Rip. Rip. "FUCK YOU!!"
  • Convenient Photograph: Basil shows a photo he took to Sunny's friends, angrily revealing it to be evidence of Mari molesting Sunny.
  • Dark Fic: Similarly to Hands, this fic revolves around topic even darker than those in the canon game.
  • Good Shepherd: The local preacher forgave Aubrey for destroying Mari's grave as retribution for Mari's sexual abuse of Sunny, and according to the narration, he "empathized with her" quite a lot.
  • Harmful to Minors: Besides the general backstory of Sunny being molested by his sister, Basil had apparently witnessed a past incident and took a picture of it.
  • Hates Being Touched: Sunny suffers a panic attack at the mere thought of a girl touching him intimately. This causes his girlfriend Aubrey no short amount of grief, since all she wants is to be able to hold him lovingly.
  • Misplaced Retribution: Aubrey is furious at Mari ever since she learned how Mari's been raping Sunny behind everyone's backs, but since Mari is now dead, Aubrey can't personally deliver justice. So instead she's resorted to causing chaos around Faraway Town by destroying anything that reminds her of Mari and even stalking some poor girl with a physical resemblance to her.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The normally sweet and gentle flower boy that is Basil lets out a "bullshit" and angrily confronts Hero for not believing Sunny's confession that Mari sexually abused him, to the surprise of the others.
Every head snapped towards Basil's furrowed brows and bestial snarl. "Mari was a monster. I saw what she did!" He snapped.
It was a new thing to the brothers, the sight of a hateful flower boy. To Aubrey, his expression only now started to make sense. She still wondered how he let her bully him for all those years.
  • Psycho Pink: The pink-haired Aubrey takes this even further than in Hands, becoming a public menace in acting out against her memory of Mari (including stalking a girl that looks like her). It's implied that Sunny wants to keep her hair that way so that her natural black wouldn't remind him of Mari.
  • Rape as Drama: The fic takes place long after the ordeals Mari gave Sunny, but the trauma greatly lingers with him.
  • Recursive Fanfiction: It is based on Hands (OMORI) and has the same basic concept- Sunny was a victim of molestation by his sister Mari- but takes place in a slightly different continuity as the hospital confession scene plays out differently than it did in Hands. It is also primarily from Aubrey's perspective and has her in an explicit romantic relationship with Sunny- the conflict being her struggle with her inability to give him physical affection.
  • Stab the Picture: Aubrey takes out her hatred of the deceased Mari on a comically exaggerated drawing of her pasted on a teddy bear, giving it a "The Reason You Suck" Speech all the while.
  • Staging an Intervention: Basil, Kel, and Hero, on Kim's behest, invite Aubrey to lunch at the lake, but it turns out to be them sitting her down so they can talk to her about her rampaging throughout Faraway Town and taking her hatred of Mari out on everyone else.
Hero took a moment to gather himself. "There's something we need to talk to you about."
She started to frown. "What in the hell do we 'need' to talk about? Nothing's going on."
Hero sighed. "Aubrey, we're concerned about your behavior. Your anger, in particular, is becoming a problem again."
"Are you kidding— my temper is fine!"
"We both know that's not true." Hero sniped, meeting her with a firm stare.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Aubrey is eventually seen stalking a girl who looks like Mari, the girl who preyed on Sunny, because she's still dealing with her unresolved anger at the deceased Mari for what she did.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: While Aubrey can't actually protect Sunny from Mari's sexual aggression since the latter is dead, Aubrey substitutes by doing stuff like drawing a picture of her face and smashing it, destroying her grave, tearing up picnic baskets lying around (because they remind her of the picnics Mari would host), carving the words EVIL WHORE into a stump, destroying a bunch of White Egret Orchids (which are heavily associated with her), and even stalking some girl who looks like Mari. This gets her friends to decide on Staging an Intervention to help her calm her anger.
