Tony Stark fell from the sky after defeating Loki's allies at the end of Avengers (the Movie). It's too bad he didn't get back to his Earth, but instead fell into a city named Brockton Bay to collide and change the fate of one girl. But she wants to be hero, not just normal, bullied Taylor Hebert.

Can be found on Fanfiction.net, and also Sufficient Velocity.

Falling Iron contains the following tropes:

  • Almighty Janitor: According to Jarvis, under the new restrictions, Dragon and he now place Tony as the highest ranking authority, with third being Armsmaster. Second place? Taylor, who hadn't even joined the Wards at the time, because she was the one making sure that Tony was fed and watered.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Fury basically points out to Hawkeye when he expresses disbelief that HYDRA could still be around that there's not that much that's really impossible these days.
    • Tony thinks that the local authorities won't believe him about being from another world, but Earth-Bet is called such because they've had previous contact with parallel worlds.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Avengers and Asgardians show up during the Simurgh's attack on Canberra.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Taylor ends up taking this role towards Tony after his arrival on Earth Bet and becoming his assistant.
  • False Flag Operation: Contessa pretends to be a HYDRA agent on her path's guidance, leading to Fury discovering the HYDRA moles.
  • For Want Of A Nail: The major deviation is Natasha not hesitating when stabbing the scepter into the portal generator at the end of the Avengers, causing Tony to hit the portal right as it closed, thus dumping him on Earth Bet, where he encounters a pre-Lung Taylor. Things drastically change from there.
    • Because he encounters Taylor, Tony starts taking her in as an assistant and gives her a confidence boost, leading to her joining the Wards on her own merits (rather than the... less than ideal circumstances she did so in canon).
  • Godzilla Threshold: Tony starts relaxing his views on sharing his technology when he sees what the Endbringers have been doing.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Even Sophia has to admit that insect control is less lame than she thought when Taylor uses Vista's spatial warping to significantly extend her range.
  • Immune to Fate: Something prevents the Simurgh from getting a good read on Iron Man, the Hulk, and Asgardians. Given that the thing that appears when she tries to view their future is a yellow gem, it's strongly suggested that it's the Mind Stone.
  • The Mentor: Tony ends up in this role towards Taylor.
  • Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond: Tony's tech isn't that impressive compared to some of Bet's Tinker-Tech, but the fact that it comes solely from his mind, and can thus be reproduced, is a major game changer.
  • Uriah Gambit: Pierce tries this, planning to blow up the Helicarrier when it's on Bet, taking out Fury and the Avengers, as well as people he feels aren't fully loyal to HYDRA. Luckily, Contessa foils that plan.
