Enemies Within
is a 2020 fanfic based on the psychological horror visual novel Doki Doki Literature Club! and additionally using elements of the fan webcomic Doki Doki Literature Girls by Yui. In the fic, an evil version of Sayori arrives to the main setting of the webcomic after destroying her own reality and seeks to get vengeance on Monika before repeating the process.

- Call-Back:
- While at the mall, Ako asks Yuri if she learned how to bake a cake yet, and Natsuki mentions that she had unwittingly made a salad out of ingredients like eggs and butter.
- Natsuki revealing to the fake Sayori that she was biologically born a male is a reference to a Wham Line at the end of the Perfect Yuri arc where Natsuki reveals it to save Yuri.
- When figuring out what to do to have Ako and Anthy confess to each other, she recommends writing poems which was what Yuri and Natsuki did in the Natsuri arc. However, Ako outright rejects the notion as being stupid and instead, she and Anthy draw pictures of each other.
- Creepy Souvenir: Sayori keeps a chain made of the coding of the many iterations of the game as mementos after destroying those worlds.
- Enemy Without: The fake Sayori is an amalgamation of all the dead Sayoris from across different realities that separated from Sayori when Monika rebooted the game.
- Faux Affably Evil: The fake Sayori does a near-perfect job masquerading as that universe's Sayori and presents herself as being bubbly, but it was a facade.
- Gory Discretion Shot:
- The Fake Sayori kills Yuri and Natsuki as well as Ako before leaving Monika herself to perish in her game's deleted world.
- The Fake Sayori kills a girl when she first arrives to the game's reality to steal her clothing.
- Hate Sink: Evil Sayori note is the amalgamation of all the alternate versions of Sayori merging to form one vengeful being. Upon gaining command control powers, she got her revenge on her dimension's Monika and destroyed the world after collecting a chain of code from it. Arriving to the setting of Doki Doki Literature Girls, Evil Sayori takes the place of the real one and orchestrates events to dismember the Literature Club from the inside. She spreads news of Natsuki being a transgirl on social media, climaxing in her expulsion; she then wounds herself and incriminates Yuri of attacking her further driving a wedge in the club. While she claims that she is destroying worlds as a means of punishing Monika for her actions in the main game, it is shown consistently that she actually enjoys the destruction she wrought.
- "It" Is Dehumanizing: Evil Sayori hates Monika so much, she tends to refer to her as "that girl."
- Kick the Dog: Fake Sayori cyberbullies Natsuki by exposing her for being a transgirl as part of her plan of destroying the Literature Club from the inside.
- Manipulative Bitch: The fake Sayori allows Natsuki to hit her knowing this would lead to Natsuki's expulsion from school.
- Mythology Gag:
- Ako and Sayori laugh about how Monika left her hanging in the original game, a reference to the dark joke Monika makes before one of the most infamous scenes in the original game. Here, Monika very clearly sees it as something not worth to remember.
- No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Natsuki pulverizes the (Fake) Sayori out of anger at her revealing her deep secret to the student body.
- Official Couple: Aside from the two main couples in Sayori and Monika, and Yuri and Natsuki, Ako and Anthy confess to each other and become a couple.
- Omnicidal Maniac: Evil Sayori wants to destroy all the worlds where Doki Doki Literature Club takes place in.
- Recursive Fanfiction: Of Doki Doki Literature Girls which itself is a fanfic on the original DDLC game.
- Secret-Keeper: Natsuki tells whom she thought was the real Sayori that she was a transgirl, hoping that she would keep it a secret from the other girls. The fake Sayori states that she would, but had her fingers crossed.
