Detective Loomes and the Phantom Thief is a One Piece fanfiction written by samettikettu
Set in the Victorian Age, Luffy is a young detective who's busy to capture not only Moriarty, a man who killed a close friend of his, but also the young but able and charming Phantom Thief, Lupin.
This fanfiction contains examples of:
- Adaptational Intelligence/Ditzy Genius: Despite his naivete and occasional ditziness, Luffy, in this story, has proven to be quite smart and clever.
- All Girls Want Bad Boys: A Rare Male Example. It seems that Luffy is becoming quite attracted to Lupin.
- Badass Adorable: Luffy may be an adorable young detective, but he's not only a pretty face.
- Badass Bookworm: Thanks to his moving to the library from his old house, Sabo could read various books, becoming very clever and resorceful.
- Badass Bystander: Aokiji, in the end of Chapter 5, wasn't shy about giving Akainu a piece of his mind.“With great respect, sir”, Aokiji picked up the mask and studied it. “You fucked up.”
- Badass in Distress: It seems that Moriarty is forming an evil plan to get rid of Luffy with the help of Inspector Shiliew. Sabo doesn't take it very kindly.
- Badass in a Nice Suit/Sharp-Dressed Man: Who said that thieves can't be elegant? Lupin is the living proof!
- Betty and Veronica: Luffy, the Archie, must chose beetween his best friend Sabo (Betty) and the Gentleman Thief Lupin (Veronica)
- Big Brother Instinct: Ace is very protective of his little brother, and is quite worried after a fake Lupin shot him in the ankle.
- Chivalrous Pervert/The Charmer: Lupin is very suave and poetic with his words and has a huge interest in The Protagonist, but he'll never hurt him and will always protect him.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Lupin dresses with dark clothes, but he's far from being evil.
- Determinator: Luffy won't stop towards anything to avenge Thatch's death, not even Sabo.
- The Dragon: Is later revealed that Shiliew, one of Scotland Yard's inspectors is one of Moriarty's second-in-commands.
- Dude Magnet: Luffy has two, and maybe three, men who are head over heels for him.
- Fearless Fool: Luffy's fearlessness and desire to capture criminals, especially Moriarty and Lupin, can cost him dearly.
- The Gentleman or the Scoundrel: Luffy is courted both by the polite and gentlemanly Sabo and the roguish yet charming Lupin.
- Gentleman Thief: Lupin may be a cleptomanic scoundrel, but he knows good manners.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Sabo has blonde hair and is very nice and caring, especially towards Luffy.
- Historical AU: The characters of One Piece are transplanted into Victorian London.
- Hopeless Suitor: Hancock, also called Irene in this story. Like her original counterpart she's madly in love with Luffy, but she doesn't know that he has no interest in women.
- Hypercompetent Sidekick: Downplayed. While Usopp is fundamental to help Luffy during cases, the latter has proven to be competent and capable enough.
- Insecure Love Interest: Sabo is often afraid that Luffy doesn't return his feelings
- Lovable Rogue: Despite his fame of being an infamous and sly thief, Lupin is quite polite and affable.
- Loves My Alter Ego: Implied by Sabo.
- Obnoxious In-Laws: While not still Sabo's brother-in-law, Ace seems to love to tease him about his crush on Luffy.
- Only Sane Man: Usopp often sees himself as this.
- Phantom Thief: Lupin, or better Sabo.
- Plucky Boy: Despite the many difficulties, Luffy won't never give up and will always be smiling and strong.
- Rags to Riches: Inverted. Sabo was once son of a noble family, but his parents, after he rebelled against them, reputiated him, adopted another son and moved to another country, forcing him to live in a small room in the library.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: After Akainu's dismissal, Smoker becomes the new chief of police.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Luffy is the Red to Sabo's and Usopp's Blue
- The Rival: Implied. Besides, Lupin, it seems that also Law, who in this story is a criminal turned medic, could have feelings for Luffy, being also quite protective towards the young detective and because of this Sabo can see him as another potential rival for Luffy's affections.
- Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Sabo is cautious and shy while Lupin is brash, fearless, charming and flirty
- Silk Hiding Steel: Rare Male Example. Sabo is normally very reserved, quiet and polite, but he's ready to do everything for his beloved Luffy, even if it means to have another identity, especially as a thief.
