Fanfic / Demon Slayer: Dark Fury

Go To

Tanjiro Kamado was travelling back to his family after finishing his work. However, he decided to stay at a neighbor's home after he warned to not travel during the night.

Meanwhile, an alien life form has crashed onto the land. Unable to withstand the cold environment, the alien quickly searched for its host. It eventually found the place where Tanjiro was resting and bonded itself to it.

From that day forward, Tanjiro became the host to Venom.

Demon Slayer: Dark Fury is a crossover between Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Venom. This is made by PowerCore Productions and is part of the first phase of Anime X Marvel. The series can be watched here.

This contains the following tropes:

  • Ability Mixing: Tanjiro and Venom can combine Venom Breathing with any of of the other Breathing Styles, enhancing them to be more devastating attacks towards Demons.
  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Takuya Yamashiro's story is more in-line with the main Spider-Man; his uncle killed by a demon and bitten by a spider, particularly a demon-mutated spider.
  • Adaptational Badass: With Venom bonding to Tanjiro, the latter can better handle in fights than he could in canon.
  • Adaptation Deviation:
    • Venom feeds on ducks to sustain himself rather than chocolate.
    • Zenitsu would chase after Nezuko when he first saw her rather than assaulting her brother, Tanjiro. Justified as Zenitsu was probably terrified of retaliation from Venom.
    • Venom helped Tanjiro to free himself from Enmu's spell.
  • Animal Motifs: Spiders are used for Tanjiro and Venom's appearance.
    • Urokodaki gives Tanjiro a special all-black kimono with a spider pattern on the back. This was inspired from him seeing Tanjiro moving through the air like a spider dancing in the rain.
    • Venom would form a Spider symbol on his chest during the Spider Family incident.
  • Bad Moon Rising: A red moon occurs when Cletus Kasady transforms into Carnage.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The Venomized Rengoku completely pummels Akaza who can barely hold off this new being.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: "Venom Breathing 5th Form - Double Critical" would max out all of Tanjiro's abilities but it only lasts 3 minutes and when it is finished, Tanjiro would lose a lot of focus.
  • The Dragon: The Demogoblin was a man turned into Demon by Carnage and became his right-hand. Carnage sent Demogoblin to assist in the attack on the swordsmith village.
  • Elemental Powers: After studying the Breathing styles and a Symbiote's abilities, both Tanjiro and Venom create a new form of Breathing style called Venom Breathing.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Eventhough the Demons look down on humans, they are incredibly disturbed by Cletus's pure evil nature.
  • Four Is Death: After being given Muzan's blood, the number "4" appear on Cletus's left pupil.
  • Healing Factor: Venom's ability to heal injuries is what allows Rengoku to survive and Tengen to have his cut arm be reattached.
  • Horrifying the Horror: Carnage's actions and presence completely unsettles all the Demons, including Muzan.
  • Oh, Crap!: Tanjiro and Venom are horrified to realize that despite being a Demon, Cletus is not affected by the Sun.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Venom is this to the Demons as not only Venom can stand toe to toe with them, immune to their Blood Demon Arts, able to mask his host's scent from them and enhance Breathing styles.
  • Power Crutch: Urokodaki suspects that Tanjiro might soon be too reliant on Venom and asks the Symbiote to not provide aid which Venom agrees.
  • Pragmatic Hero: Hero is not exactly accurate to describe Venom but he is the one who won't let sympathy get in the way of doing his job and kill Demons to protect humans.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: Venom can control the body of his host although it would be difficult if his host has a strong will. Tanjiro allows Venom to take over his body to continue travelling while he's sleeping although Venom would use this opportunity to capture and eat ducks.
  • Red Is Violent: Carnage is a psychotic, evil monster that takes pleasure in klling. The moment Carnage was born, he immediately painted the prison he's held in with the guards' blood.
  • Sadistic Choice:
    • Having Nezuko at his mercy, Gyutaro forces Tanjiro to de-transform and drop his blade or he'll kill his sister. Tanjiro complied.
    • Gyutaro tries this once more, forcing Tanjiro to join them and become a Demon or he'll kill Nezuko. However, Venom secretly sends out tendrils to attack Gyutaro to free Nezuko allowing Tanjiro to transform back and kicks the Demon's ass.
  • Spared By Adaptation:
    • Tanjiro and Venom arrives at the Northwest village earlier allowing them to save Kazumi's fiancée from being kidnapped by the Swamp Demon.
    • Ozaki and several Demon Slayers were rescued by Tanjiro and Venom compared in canon where they died.
    • After Rengoku gets fatally injured by Akaza, Venom bonds with him to save his life.
  • Villain Takes an Interest: Muzan takes notice of the symbiotes, particularly the red symbiote worn by Cletus Kasady.
  • Wham Shot: In Part 3, while Tanjiro were leaving Asakusa, he sees a disturbance occurring and learns that the authorities are arresting a foreign serial killer named Cletus Kasady.
  • What If?: Dark Fury is about the Venom Symbiote crashing onto Earth's Japan's Taishō era.
  • Wild Card: Despite being turned into a Demon by Muzan, it's clear Cletus and Carnage cannot be controlled and has been coercing other Demons like Akaza to his side.
