Dangan Ronpa: The Courage of Hope and The Strength of Despair is a currently ongoing spin-off fanfic of Danganronpa written by Adzan and set just before the the beginning of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, wherein a new set of characters, dubbed the 79th Class of Hope's Peak Academy, must participate in an all new mutual killing event, led by an anonymous mastermind.
Yuuta Hirota, a skilled young marksman, finds himself drifting unconscious after opening a letter addressed to him by Hope's Peak Academy. He wakes up in a abandoned classroom which he recognizes as Hope's Peak Academy due to the school's emblem being pasted everywhere. By opening the only door inside the classroom, he collided into an new ally. Literally.
After joining up and meeting his numerous fellow classmates, he along with them are forced by Monokuma to kill one another in a glorified battle royale against their will. And when the first signs of tension start show themselves, Yuuta finds himself within the crossfire.
So, how strong is the power of your hope?

- Dwindling Party
- Easter Egg: There are a lot of them too.
- In chapter 1, it's implied that Izuru Kamukura was the one that knocked out the mastermind. Considering the timeline of this fanfic, it wouldn't be too strange if it was the case.

- In chapter 5, Kotone's dialogue upon finding out about the class trials and their implications of an execution is reminisce of Hibiki's own comment from Chapter 3.
- Laser-Guided Amnesia: All the students had their memories of just after they received a letter from Hope's Peak Academy, to set it up so that it looked like they had never come to the school before.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall Leaning On The Fourth Wall]]: Monokuma does this a lot, but he isn't the only one.
