Blue Waltz

As a young kid, Gosalyn Mallard doesn’t have good control of her emotions, causing her to get into trouble. Rather than own up to her responsibility, she creates a web of lies that not only have the potential to complicate her relationship with her father and Darkwing’s attempt to stop a wave of robberies.
’’Blue Waltz’’ contains the following examples:
- Dean Bitterman: Mr. Webfoot is a very strict disciplinarian and is quick to punish Gosalyn when she recklessly sends a puck flying in a way that could injure someone.
- Deconstructed Character Archetype: Gosalyn’s Plucky Girl attitude is shown to be somewhat in the wrong: Gosalyn’s inability to buckle under authority, whether parental or educational, gets her in a lot of trouble and makes her out to be an arrogant brat.
- Jerk Jock: Well, not quite a jerk, but Gosalyn wants to try out for the hockey team and is a bit arrogant and reckless in how she goes about being an athlete.
- Like Father, Like Son: Honker notes Gosalyn takes after her adoptive father, with both of them being vainglorious fools who dive headfirst into adventure, only to hurt themselves due to their ego.
- Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: Gosalyn and Honker are a platonic variant: the former is an assertive, tough-as-nails athlete, while the latter is a meek nerd who buckles under authority.
- Stern Teacher: Mrs. Chickpea, Gosalyn’s teacher, is quick to send her to the principal’s office when she recklessly plays hockey in the halls.
- There Are Two Kinds of People in the World: Gosalyn divides the world into two categories: those who look forward to going back to school and those who dread the very existence of school, with herself in the latter category.
