is an Alternate Universe Fic of Kirby: Right Back at Ya! diverting during the climax of the last episode.
Customer Service manages to escape the destruction of Holy Nightmare's base and follows the heroes to Popstar. Forced to make a new home there, he discovers things Nightmare never told him about the planet — or himself.
An Unlikely Sort of Paradise contains examples of:
- His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Averted; Customer Service has an actual name and is referred to as such after it's revealed.
- Meaningful Name: Customer Service's real name, Jin Akumu; akumu is the romanized version of the Japanese word for 'nightmare' - fitting, given who he was made by and worked for.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Behind those shades, Customer Service's eyes are red; as a Demon Beast, this is a marker of his evilness. Played with, however, as his eyes not being red is much more worrying.
- They're Called "Personal Issues" for a Reason: Customer Service is very reluctant to open up to the residents of Dreamland, though that doesn't mean various others won't try to get him to talk out his issues.
- Translation Convention: The characters aren't technically speaking English or Japanese; they're using a trade language that has elements of both. The two languages both still exist, but because it's been so long since humans were active in the setting, only a few people are strongly fluent in either.
