Moebius D was one of the most deranged, most ruthless soldiers in Aionios, and that was before he became an immortal psychopath. He tried to kill Ouroboros multiple times, and only failed to assassinate Queen Nia by sheer luck. He was nothing but a violent, dangerous obstacle to the salvation of the world, and no one shed a tear when he died.
Dirk was the child of Mythra and Rex, their beautiful golden boy with a sharp tongue but a big heart. Nothing was more important to him than his family.
After Aionios, Dirk starts to remember being Moebius D. This does not go well.
Following Mio and Noah regaining their full memories, all of Dirk's problems are exacerbated. He is short with his family and friends, often launching into a rage over the tiniest of things. His family does their best to help him, but he doesn't think he even wants help, and everyone else who remembers Aionios just looks at him and remembers D.
Dirk knows who he doesn't want to be. Unfortunately, D isn't about to leave him alone.

This fanfic provides examples of:
- Alternate Universe Fic: Unlike most of the author's other work, which can theoretically fit in canon, this one explicitly doesn't. The author says that the premise seems ridiculous, but still wanted to explore the idea of the war turning even a good man into a monster.
- Extra Parent Conception: Before Aionios, a new way to create Blades was invented: Two Blades put their data into a blank core crystal, and then a human awakens it. The Blade manifests as a baby who grows up like a normal human. Sena was the very first of these new Blades, with Brighid as her mother, Aegeon as her father, and Morag as her Driver. The fact that society hadn't quite figured out what that actually meant left her very confused, and she entered Aionios unsure of her own identity.
- Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Dirk was born with his mother's golden hair, and a heart to go with it. As he slowly started to go insane over the course of his reincarnations in Aionios, his hair faded to a dull, straw-like color.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Dirk's entire character arc is about reacting to his memories of the horrible things that happened in Aionios, of how he turned into a monster who fought to keep this unnatural world going so he could continue murdering.
- Our Founder: When Dirk reaches Polis, he nearly has a breakdown when he sees the Founder statues. One is his father, one is his sister Glimmer, and two more are his other sister Mio's great-grandchildren.
- Primal Scene: Inverted; due to Poppy showing Nia scenes from Mio's life without understanding the context, Nia had to watch her daughter's Their First Time more than once.
- Related in the Adaptation:
- The basis for the fic is the child of Mythra and Rex turning out to be Blackblaze Dirk, Moebius D. As his memories slowly come back, he has to deal with all the guilt of being a sociopathic murderer who tried to kill his mother and sister.
- Sena is the daughter of Brighid and Aegeon, a new type of Blade born from other Blades.
- Selective Obliviousness: Lanz wonders aloud why Aegeon is helping him learn courtly manners, dancing, and all sorts of other little things that he would need to know if he were to, for example, marry a princess of Mor Ardain. Sena, who does realize why her father is doing this, is extremely embarrassed.
- That Came Out Wrong: Sena suggests she and Lanz "do a workout." Lanz thinks it's a great idea. Sena's father rather snippily asks exactly what they mean by "workout." Lanz just blinks and talks about their normal weights, calisthenics, and cardio routine, while Sena realizes what her father was implying.
- We Are as Mayflies: Eunie is a half-Homs orphan in a (mostly) Homs orphanage. Meaning most of her friends outgrow her within a few years, while she's expected to stay there for decades more.
