Long story short: Six teenage boys undertake an adventure to find and destroy a murderous being of pure evil using their new-found power over the elements.
A story still in the writing stage by SharPhoe, Rising Phoenix tells the story of six young heroes, all of whom have lost a loved one in their life to a malicious creature known only as Xero. After a disastrous attempt to bring him down leads to the destruction of their headquarters and gear, they are given assistance by a monk, Kyosume Oshida, whose daughter they saved from certain death along the way. In return, Kyosume gives them valuable help in their time of need by putting their possession seven magical scrolls that were said to come from the souls of the legendary warriors of the long-lost clan known as the Rising Phoenix, giving their owners the power to manipulate a particular element. From there, they set out to find Xero again and put an end to his murderous ways once and for all.
But it will not be simple...
Tropes used in this story (SPOILERS AHEAD)
- Achey Scars: Jamie
- All There in the Manual: The story will have a extra supplemental material with it that explains what happens in the boys' backstories in a more in-depth manner.
- Barrier Warrior: Jamie, when using the Grace of Spades.
- Cast From HP: Jamie's Pure Heart draws from his own physical condition to heal the wounds of others. He can sleep off the damage afterwards, however. His Unleashed Phoenix form, on the other hand...
- Death by Origin Story: For both the RP and Renegades.
- Death of a Thousand Cuts: Jamie's Diamond Cutter attack.
- Dick Dastardly Stops to Cheat: Michael was more than capable of completing the final test legitimately, but still felt like "bettering his odds" by sneaking anesthetic-tipped needles into the sleeve of his gi.
- Elemental Powers: Though the elements don't necessarily match the personalities all the time...
- Enemy Within
- Fearful Symmetry
- Five-Man Band:
- The Hero - Peter
- The Lancer - Sam
- The Big Guy - Kris
- The Smart Guy - Greg
- The Heart - Jamie
- Tagalong Kid - Zach
- Happily Adopted: Jamie. Though it was never a legal matter, he's happy to be taken care of by his "bro", Peter.
- "I Know You're in There Somewhere" Fight
- Katanas Are Just Better: Averted. Of all the sword designs included in the story, none of them are shaped like a katana.
- Knuckle Cracking: When Jamie does it, that means Tough Club has been activated.
- Look What I Can Do Now!
- Civvie Spandex
- Perpetual Frowner: Damon. He shows little to no emotion, even when severely winning/losing a battle.
- Power Dyes Your Hair: Peter's hair only changes color when he's overcome with dark power.
- Power Floats: Mostly prevalent with Xero, who rarely ever has his feet touch the ground.
- Power Gives You Wings
- Power Glows
- Recruit Teenagers with Attitude: Kyosume's an awful lot like Zordon...
- Redemption Equals Death
- Red Eyes, Take Warning
- Self-Made Orphan: In the supplemental backstory, it's revealed that, at the same age that Jamie lost his parents, Charlie murdered his own. With a baseball bat. He then blew up the house, for good measure.
- Similar Squad: A serious example would be the Renegades.
- Superpowered Evil Side
- Swiss-Army Weapon: The Deck of Four Wonders can heal others, shield them from harm, Power up the wielder, and cut opponents to ribbons, depending on the suit chosen.
- Tiger Versus Dragon: Kris may not have the greatest of temperaments, but he's still far more composed than Michael is in battle.
- Unknown Rival: Charlie is this to Jamie, only because they had never met face-to-face in the past.
