Darth Wiki / Pokemon Darkness And Light

Go To

Pokemon Darkness and Light is a planned fan-game for the Pokemon series made by the troper Thepenguinking2. It sports 148 (actually, 149) fan-made pokemon, as well as pokemon from the official games. the fan-made pokemon are currently not all made, but you can see the current list of non-legendaries here.

The game also introduces the Star-type. When used as an attack, it is super-effective against Water, Fighting, Steel and Electric, while not very effective on Grass, Ground, Dragon, Star and Ice. It also does not affect Dark-types, and fails to work while under desolate land. When it is being attacked, it's weak to Ground and Dragon, while resistant to Fire, Fighting and Electric. It is also immune to Dark and Water.

Tropes applying to this to-be-game:

  • Animated Armor: Spiriron, which is a set of armor possessed by a ghost.
  • Big Bad: Malrayo, the leader of the Team Nova group.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Malrayo means "Bad Shine" in spanish.
  • Do Not Spoil This Ending:
    • The final boss will be kept in private until the game is released.
    • The 149th pokemon will will only be shown upon defeating said final boss.
  • Expy: Drillasp is a slight one to Beedrill.
  • Flavor Text: Several items, moves and abilities have jokes at the end of the description, usually concerning competitive play and Fridge Logic. Here's a few examples:
Life Orb: When given to a pokemon, the holder causes more damage, at the cost of their own HP. Used by almost every sweeper ever.
Leftovers: When given to a pokemon, the holder heals itself a bit every turn. Nom nom nom, om nom...
Mewtwonite Y: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. Have Mewtwo hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle. Usually only given to those associated with the sunny sky. As if Mewtwo wasn't overpowered enough.
Dragonitenite: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. Have a Dragonite hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle. Good luck pronouncing its name.
Meganiumite: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. Have a Meganium hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle. Mega-Meganium, doesen't get any more mega than this.
Yveltalite: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. Have Yveltal hold it, and this stone will enable it to Mega Evolve during battle. Mega Yveltal is the butt of several immature jokes. Note
Gyaradosite Y: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. Have a Gyarados hold it, and this stone will enable it to swallow a giant taco and get blemishes all over itself during battle. Usually given to those associated with the sunny sky.
Focus Sash: When given to a pokemon, the holder can survive one move that would normally KO it while at full HP. Don't you hate it when your foe uses this?
Fresh Water: A simple drink that restores the HP of a single pokemon by 50 HP. Somehow better or on par with some genetically engineered liquids.
Rocky Helmet: Give this to a pokemon, and any attack from the opponent which involves collision will get damaged slightly. Ouch.
Protect: The pokemon shields itself, protecting itself from one move directed at it. Please stop wasting my time.
False Swipe: The pokemon uses an odd slashing maneuver that causes damage, but never KOs the pokemon. Remember, pokemon catchers, practice safe weakening. It is important.
Quick-spread Venom: The pokemon injects a poison into the body of the opponent, which multiplies quickly when generated. Due to how quickly it spreads, the user is also poisoned. Nice to see they made Murder-Suicide a pokemon move.
Explosion: The pokemon explodes, causing a huge amount of damage, but taking itself out in the process. Also increases the frustration level of shiny hunters by one.
Sand Attack: The user kicks sand into the eyes of their opponent, causing them to drop accuracy by one level. WHY DOES THIS MOVE EXIST!?
Awkward Slime: The user shoots out a strange, goopy material that deactivates the ability of the pokemon that steps in it. Using it again allows floating pokemon to step in it too. Of all names we could've called it.
Bullet Punch: The user attacks the opponent with strong punches at the speed of bullets. This move always goes first. Not the signature move of Scizor, but might as well be.
Stealth Rock: The user shoots out floating, sharp stones that burrow into the skin of a pokemon who switches in. The move varies in power depending on what type the user is. Sneaky pebbles.
Cut: The user slashes at the opponent. It can also be used to cut down trees that block your path. Nobody likes cut.
  • An Ice Person: The Cubit line.
  • My Brain Is Big: Half of Octopsych's main body is brain.
  • Nerf: Water finally got one. It is now weak to Star, and lost its resistance to Ice. It also can't affect Star.
  • One-Gender Race: As expected from a Pokemon game.
    • Starlit line, Larvice line, Fencir, Javilmen and Hitmoninja (Who evolves from Tyrogue) are Always Male.
    • Spinadam and Topress are Always Female.
    • Helmead line and Stara don't have a gender.
  • Our Dragons Are Different: Chinelp, who is based off of a chinese festival dragon.
  • Palette Swap: Inverted. Several pokemon take palettes from other pokemon, though Thepenguinking 2 is planning to fix this and give the pokemon their own unique palettes.
  • Purple Is Powerful: The Doubenta line is purple.
  • The Rival: Starclaw and Drillasp. Both despise each other from their pre-evos up.
  • Shout-Out: Kiblamo. There are Keyblades surrounding it.
  • Slaying Mantis: Manthrash.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Two headed snakes with sharp green teeth are even more so!
  • Star Power: The Star type is all about this.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Zodia.
  • Taking You with Me: The new Hypernova move, which is effectively a special Self Destruct that is Star type.
  • True Final Boss: You can fight him after catching every pokemon (except for version exclusives and the 149th pokemon, who only appears after defeating the TFB) and beating every gym and elite 4.
  • When Trees Attack: Coclip and Cocrush, though they're more trees with faces, arms and legs than ents.
