Tropers / Thepenguinking 2

Go To

Heya. Name's Thepenguinking2. To be honest, I'm not really a fan of this name anymore, but I picked it, so I'm stuck with it.

This page used to look a lot bigger, but I got rid of it because I don't like how it was. I'll probably do the rest of this page at a later date. ...Well, knowing me, probably not.

     My interests

Games

Movies

Music

Not a lot of "artists", per se, cuz I listen mostly to video game music. I do want to broaden my horizons sooner or later, tho.

Shows

Also don't watch a lot of shows either. It's pretty much entirely cartoons and Youtube series.
    Tropes that apply to me
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: I love alliteration in general.
  • Artifact Title: I still love penguins a lot, but not to the extent that my username would imply nowadays. That's why I've majorly switched to the name "Captain Demozan" on every new account I make on websites.
  • Author Appeal: Most of my works will contain three things: Snails, copious amounts of purple, and mlm pairings.
  • Berserk Button: Boy HOWDY do I have them:
    • Excusing content creators such as Pewdiepie, Scott Cawthon, or Ninjamuffin for the terrible things they've done is a quick way to get me to NEVER wanna talk to you ever.
    • Schezo Wegey, who might very well be my least favorite fictional character ever. And let's not even speak of when he's shipped with my favorite fictional character Lemres.
    • Bisexual erasure, whether it's excluding bisexuals from LGBT spaces or treating bisexual characters as being just gay/lesbian.
    • Hearing that goddamn "Sad moment" song from Pokémon Black and White playing in a Youtube video makes me want to bury my head in my hands and sigh "You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!". It's been used so often that I can't take it seriously anymore (Not that I could take it seriously in the first place; quite frankly I felt nothing when witnessing the scene in question.)
  • Black Sheep: I'm this among my family.
  • But Not Too Bi: I'm bisexual and I won't let you forget it. But you would not know that from how much I talk about loving guys in particular. To be fair, I'm also homoromantic (little to no attraction to the opposite gender), so that's pretty much why.
  • The Cynic: The amount of times I felt something was gonna go a good way could be counted on an amputee's hand.
  • Does Not Like Spam: I cannot stand bacon. I also hate lemons and lemon flavored stuff.
  • The Eeyore: Been this since 2014, and it's not gonna stop.
  • Friendless Background: I am terrible at keeping friends. I just have one who I've consistently stuck with.
  • Has a Type: Pretty Boys, particularly of the long haired variety.
  • I Hate Past Me: And most if not all of his old projects.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: I've considered myself to be effeminate as of recently. Doesn't show in my physical appearance, but probably DOES show in my attitude and such.
  • Kindhearted Cat Lover: I have three of them and I love them all. They also love me, too!
  • Perverse Sexual Lust: Now I wouldn't call it that, but yeah, I have major crushes on fictional characters. Main examples being Lemres and Otomo. I don't dry dock them though, because I ship them together AND with myself.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator:
  • Shrinking Violet: A rare male example.
  • The Shut-In
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: I consider the previously mentioned Schezo Wegey to be this.
  • The Stoic: How I type a lot of the time. Not a lot of all caps or exclamation points.
    • Not So Stoic: I'm a lot more reactive with friends, that being said.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Chicken of all kinds. Fried chicken legs especially.
  • Trauma Button: Parents yelling and/or arguing, bad grades, cats being harmed or killed, and belongings being destroyed are sensible ones. On the other hand, I also have a certain Fire/Psychic type Pokémon from Gen 5 and a certain mobile rhythm game featuring an all female cast as triggers. Please don't name them for me, and PLEASE don't ask me why they're triggers.
  • TV Tropes as a Gateway Drug: To quite a few things. In particular, to Square Root of Minus Garfield.
  • Yaoi Fanboy: Look, I'm a guy who loves guys, so I also love seeing guys kiss other guys. What else do you want me to say?

Tropes that apply to my dreams
Abandon hope for context, ye who enter.
  • Adaptational Sexuality:
    • Olimar in the live action Pikmin movie was gay, while the original Olimar had a wife and two kids.
    • Noelle, a canon lesbian, got a boyfriend in one of my dreams' renditions of Chapter 3. Even in my dream, the fandom didn't take this well.
  • All Just a Dream: Yeah?
  • Apocalypse How:
    • Planetary Physical Annihilation happened in the Minion Apocalypse. As soon as the Minion upgrade was purchased, the planet was destroyed.
    • Planetary Total Extinction happened in the end of Pokémon squad. Male Combee succeeded in killing everyone on the planet. Though plants managed to survive, as did Male Combee himself (And one Cherubi)
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In my Pokémon Squad dream, Male Combee succeeds in killing everyone on the planet.
  • Big Bad:
    • Microsoft, in the True Console War.
    • Male Combee in the Pokémon Squad.
  • Brick Joke: After going through a fleshy hell and back to find a particular beetle, I gave up and just played Neopets. When I went to the bathroom a few minutes later, I found the beetle.
  • Character Catchphrase: Instead of his usual "Kachow!", Lightning McQueen's new catchphrase was "I'm gonna make some cheese!"
  • Crapsack World: Anarchy and cannibalism was frequent after watermelons became extinct. My brother and parents died to unknown causes, and by the end I was running for my life.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: The pitch-black mushroom. If one were to eat even a single piece of it, they would disintegrate from the inside, leaving only a skeleton behind.
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • While I was trying to cure my cat of a disease (Which didn't really have any dangerous effects. It just turned him into a really small light grey kitten), my brother jokingly told me to consult a soup can. My response? Kick him in the back of the head and almost kill him.
    • Self hated while playing Mario Kart Toy Story? Enjoy your lifetime ban! Oh, you got banned from Mario Kart Toy Story? Enjoy being arrested.
  • Dream Within a Dream: Sorta. I had a dream about talking about a weird dream I had.
  • Drive-Thru Antics: If Mcdonalds puts a creeper or a nuke in my order one more time...
  • Dwindling Party:
    • My family during the melonless dystopia. My parents died, and then my brother also likely died. The dream ended before I could die, though.
    • The Pokémon Squad had deaths constantly, whether from infighting, drowning, or killed by foes. In the end, the only remaining (former) member was Male Combee, who killed the rest of them off.
  • Gainax Ending:
    • The ending to my True Console War dream had nothing to do with the console war. I just started playing Plants vs. Zombies 2 (Even though EA was vaporized), and I got attacked with a bunch of Gargantuars.
    • I never managed to find it, but apparently, the Fish Finger Ending was this.
  • The Hero Dies:
    • During the Minion Apocalypse, I was one of the people who didn't escape. Thankfully, the orange unicorn revived me.
    • I also exploded for no reason in one dream, but I respawned immediately.
    • Mudlup (Mudkip + Piplup) was killed so that Male Combee could get to his space station. No ressurections this time.
  • Innocent Innuendo: At one point in Pokémon Squad, the living squad members enter a shower room where everything was golden. In other words, a golden shower...
  • Jesus Was Way Cool: That time he was my roommate was pretty great. He let me tap his shoulder with a bottled water so I could turn it into wine!
  • Living MacGuffin: The beetle, which you had to find and kill to win an unspecified prize.
  • Living Statue: Unbeknownst to us all, that axe wielding statue was alive and could use its axe to its desire. That desire happened to be cutting my nose off.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: Shockingly, all of the Toy Story characters besides Woody in Mario Kart Toy Story.
  • May–December Romance: In one Puyo Puyo comic, Lemres (Who's an adult) ended up getting together with Klug (A middle schooler). For some reason, I didn't mind.
  • Mercy Kill: I had to do this to my dad in one dream.
  • Nasal Trauma: I had my nose cut off by an axe wielding statue.
  • Nutritional Nightmare: Uncooked ground beef on a garlic salted tortilla, anyone?
  • Oblivious to Love: A girl was hitting on me while I was watching Minions. I just completely ignored her.
  • Running Gag: Vore shows up a lot in my dreams. One example is Pokémon vore battles, where if one trainer won the battle, they'd vore the loser
  • Sacrificial Lion:
  • Serious Business:
    • Lightning McQueen not making cheese despite his catch phrase being "I'm gonna make some cheese!" got him into some serious hot water, to the point where he actually had to record himself making cheese.
    • Me ordering 6 piece mcnuggets was apparently a huge event for the local Mcdonalds.
  • Toys-To-Life Game: An amiibo style example with the Wireframe figures. These figures could be used to insert characters into a game to assist you. Games that used this include Deltarune (With a Wire-Queen and Wire-Berdley figure) and Plants vs. Zombies (With the Wire-Snapdragon and Wire-Chomper).
  • Video Game Movies Suck: I didn't see the full release, but the trailer of the live action Pikmin movie looked horrendous. The trailer didn't even show any Pikmin!
  • WTH, Casting Agency?: When Toby Fox himself asked me and my friend for ideas for voice actors for the game's trailer, I suggested... Chris Pratt. As all three of them. Yes, this includes the Susie and Kris. My friend started crying, and Toby was very displeased.

    Tropes I love

    Tropes I hate
  • Black Comedy Pet Death: Pet death, cats in particular, is my numero uno trigger, so it makes me really upset whenever I see it. So as you'd expect, seeing it used as a joke disgusts me to an EXTREME degree.
  • Blackout Basement: I HATE this level archetype so much to the point that I will NEVER include one in any games I create. I've seen fun water levels. I've seen fun gimmick levels. And hell, as I said earlier, I love ice levels more than the usual gamer, but I don't think I've ever loved a darkness level. Blocking the player's view of the entire level isn't challenging, it's annoying and cheap. Fun fact, while playing Donkey Kong Country, I've died more on the Trope Namer than on the apparently notorious Tanked Up Trouble.
  • Memetic Badass: Memes of this caliber I usually find overplayed and forced.
  • No Bisexuals: My reasons for hating this trope should be fairly obvious.
  • Only One Female Mold: Especially if that mold is a sexualized one.
  • Permanently Missable Content: As a completionist, I hate this.
  • Temporary Online Content: As a completionist who even tries their damnedest to 100% online games, I hate this even more.
  • Trick Boss, particularly for when it's used for the final boss: I've seen this so many goddamn times in recent Nintendo games that it just gets predictable all the time. The worst part is that the trick boss is either way friggin' easier than the first form or the second form isn't even fun (Looking at you, Kirby's Epic Yarn.)
