Oneironpa is a Danganronpa fan-roleplay run on Discord by wingedcatgirl.

A group of 28 people with connections to each other woke up in a mysterious pocket dimension, transformed into a character they considered their idealized self. Strange things begin happening, and despite the insistences of the existing inhabitants, the phenomena seem curiously geared towards getting the players to kill each other. It's a killing game that pretends it isn't even taking place...

Oneironpa contains examples of:

  • The Artifact: Talents don't have much of an explanation or purpose, since the premise doesn't involve Hope's Peak or any Expy thereof. It seems they were included for no more reason than that the game is, at its core, based on Danganronpa.
  • Body Horror: Haster is a Blob Monster who constantly shapeshifts. A couple of his earlier interactions have him state that he feels like he's perpetually melting.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: The Corruption inside Cassie's body makes it clear for anyone nearby whenever it speaks that it's out to spread itself.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Door mentions several -ronpas when wondering who the mastermind is, including The Doorronpa Trilogy, Discordronpa and Cooking the Despair.
  • Denser and Wackier: Due to its "idealized self" premise, Oneironpa's characters are a lot more off-the-wall than the previous self-insert games it's a Spiritual Successor to — Discordronpa 1 and 2 just had normal people in a virtual world and the two Dangancords had mostly down to earth characters, but this one has characters like a carrier of the Corruption, a scientist of the SCP Foundation, and an Expy of Delirium.
  • Evil Is Deathly Cold: Elegia Gnash, whilst unknown in how exactly evil she is, is involved in the killing game, and when she touches someone (in Xabby's case) or someone touches her body (in Cassie's case), her body is described to be "cold death".
  • Expy: Haster Maze brings to mind Delirium, as both are unstable shapeshifting Blob Monsters who are primarily white with yellow eyes. While Delirium is the Anthropomorphic Personification of My Life Flashed Before My Eyes, Haster Maze is one to his creator's difficulty making decisions, self doubt and short attention span.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Prior to the killing game, Sylvi once jokingly called Felix the feminine name "Cassie", as a diminutive of his Discord handle "Casio". He took to it immediately and is in the habit of going by that name exclusively by the time the game starts.
  • Hates Being Nicknamed: Elegia Gnash doesn't want to be called anything but "Elegia" or "Gnash", and is very annoyed that Cala insists on calling her "Ellie".
  • [Popular Saying], But...: The second chapter is titled "If wishes were fishes, we'd still be stuck here". note
  • Spiritual Successor: Oneironpa is intended to be a reimagining of Discordronpa and Dangancord, based on the same premise of a killing game full of players Alter-Ego Acting, though it certainly is far Denser and Wackier than any of them.
  • Super Smoke: Elegia Gnash can take the form of a black, mobile mass of smoke, which she exploits by threatening to choke everyone in the mansion out during the killing game announcement in order to silence them.
  • Take That!: Upon discussing the potential mastermind in the chat, Door brings up that it could possibly be Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs. Cue "No. Just… No" Reaction from Kai, Haster, Xabby and Cassie.
  • Working Title: Initially promoted as "The Self-Insert Ronpa", though it was made clear that this was not going to be its final title.
