Magus Generation: The Eternal Era of Magic.
"It seems we are connected, you and I. And I, to millions of others. Do not believe the lies they have shown you. The world's falling apart at the seams, it can barely keep itself together. Yet in spite of that, I hope you can enjoy life nonetheless. Please... The fate of the whole world relies on you. So I hope one day, my cries will be heeded."
Words of a Heavenly Voice.
Magus Generation, often abbreviated as "MG" is a Journal Roleplay hosted on Discord. In this story, players must traverse through a world filled with magical wonder, going through day to day life as students of multiple academies that teach the essentials for every mage.

Player Characters

    Kageaki Reichhart

Kageaki Reichhart, The Inerrant Executioner

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kaggy.png
"Now... I'll kill that fucked up illusion of yours!"
  • Weapon Specialization: Kageaki Reichhart's true weapon proficiency lies in his guillotine-like wristblade. Despite that, he refuses to use it unless the situation is really serious. Most other weapons he uses end up breaking.

    Satoshi Haruno

Satoshi Haruno, The Wrought Iron Blacksmith

Blacksmith, fighter, wielder, and leader. Satoshi Haruno was once an orphaned child who ran away from home after beheading his own father. Having been found and adopted by a woman, he took up her profession as a simple blacksmith, trying to master the craft and create the perfect blade. After a series of events that changed his view of life and bonds, Satoshi decided to fight for what he believes in, looking ahead in order to reach a better future. Now he fights as the leader of the Tuskur Rebellion, aiming to win the war (which he started) against Autumnwood and their knights.

"My body is a forge for swords."

  • An Arm and a Leg: At some point in his past, a few years after his adoption, a fire breaks out at his mother's workshop, killing her and taking away his left arm. He soon replaces it with a prosthetic.

  • Body Horror: His sword, the Houken, allows Satoshi the use of unique abilities. One such ability is transforming his ribs into blades which protrude out of his body. A similar thing is done with another ability, which temporarily patches wounds with knitted blades rather than scabs.

  • Berserk Button: Whenever he is pushed to his limit, he unknowingly gains skills he shouldn't have...

  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: Using the Houken's abilities come at the cost of his own literal flesh, bone, and blood. If he overuses these techniques, there won't be much left of him.

  • David Versus Goliath: Of all the people who prepared themselves to fight a powerful mafia boss with sharpened skills and over 200 years of experience, who is it that beats him? A half-dead teenager with a mini obsession with swords.

  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: A strange and somewhat morbid fact about Satoshi is that basically all of his parental figures end up dying, sometimes by his own hands.

  • Determinator: Seen especially near the end of the Subterra Arc. Having fought Romano Melaragno by himself, falling off of an elevated colony to the ground below, narrowly avoiding death fighting someone else, battling Romano again, all while having his insides slowly tear itself apart. Despite all of these serious circumstances, Satoshi REFUSED to back down.
Satoshi: "Not yet... I still... have a job to do..."

  • Expendable Clone: In the middle of the Subterra Arc, it was revealed that Satoshi is actually one of many clones made from the genetic template of Asahi Sakamoto. Given his designated number of #13028, it can be assumed he isn't as unique as he would hope.

  • Happily Adopted: After his father's execution at his hands, Satoshi was taken in by a kind woman who helped him find a new home in hers. Too bad it didn't last.

  • Self-Made Orphan: As a child, Satoshi was forced to carry out the execution of his father himself. Despite his unwillingness, he followed through with the order, as per his own father's wishes.

  • Sociopathic Hero: Strangely, there are a few moments where Satoshi seemingly ceases to care about human life, either friend or foe, in the midst of battle.

  • Heroes Prefer Swords: It's not even funny at this point. Even his abilities are tailored towards swords.

  • Invocation: "Trace On." An incantation that allows him the ability to analyze the structure and even read the history of anything he sees. It also lets him replicate these things to a limited extent, with blades being a minor exception, the quality degrading less in comparison.

  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: As a result of him killing his own father, Satoshi hid his memories deep within himself, barely having any recollection of anything even remotely related. Years later, he has a dream that unlocks these memories, though still somewhat fragmented.

    Ikago Nomura

Ikago Nomura, The Sheltered Inventor

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kago_8.png

    Typhon of Catania

Typhon of Catania, The Iron Gladiator

Machine. Gladiator. Magus. Artist (this one's a work-in-progress). There's no shortage of ways to describe the former gladiator once forgotten by the world but rebirthed in blood within the brutal arena of the Pit of Catania. Rising from a self-identity of nothing, Typhon sought to depart from what he believed was the pointless noise of his homeland and venture out to other avenues of life, eventually leading into a journey where he seeks to prove to the world of his existence. While he may seem like a simple robotic brute from the outside, those who would speak with him quickly discovere that to him, there's more than meets the eye.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/megat.png
  • Expy: Of Megatron (more specifically, his incarnation from the 2005 IDW comics). Includes plentiful various details of the character, ranging from undergoing trial-by-fire in gladiator combat, to his extreme fear and distates of having other people digging around in his inner anatomy.

  • Gladiator Games: A significant part of Typhon's backstory before the events of the roleplay consists of this.

  • Spock Speak: Much of Typhon's speech lacks contractions and is overly formal. Downplayed after his expulsion, where he learns to loosen up a bit in the company of his friends.

  • Momma's Boy: To Doctor Tesla. Although Typhon goes through much of the early roleplay as an indomitable badass, he constantly makes calls to home in order to alleviate the worries of his overprotective guardian. Tesla seems to be the only person in the entirety of the roleplay that Typhon can't stand up to—even if she's less than 2/3rds his height.

  • Shout-Out: Typhon expresses his admiration of international Pop sensation Hatsune Miku during a group conversation about how pirating a certain block game would invoke the ire of its Vocaloid creator.

  • Art Attacker: His paint-splattering Seeker Missiles are an example of this.

  • Made of Iron: Look at him.

    Iris Glasser

Iris Glasser, The IRS

"Look Ma, I'm a Mayor!"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ris.png
  • Fantastic Racism: Iris Glasser's gang was formed because of the beastkin racism in Subterra.

  • BFS: Iris Glasser can turn her companion Abbot into a giant sword, provided she has enough money to fulfill the contract. This is not her preferred weapon, but she uses it more than her bat.

    Helios Nagamitsu

Helios Nagamitsu, The Wildcard

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/helios_8.png

    Bianca Martelli

Bianca Ophelia Orlena Martelli, The Chronicler of Magus Generation

A former inventor, business owner, and member of Class 2-B, Bianca Martelli is a journalist and member of Magus Generation. Originating from the City of Runeprarie in the Dominion of Alvarnia, Bianca has a strong belief in the truth, dedicating herself to seeking it out and share what she can with the world. She considers herself more a scholar than a fighter, but isn't afraid to take part in combat if it's deemed necessary. While one of the weakest members of Magus Generation, Bianca makes up for it with her ingenuity and tactical knowhow.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ianca.png

  • Weak, but Skilled: Bianca isn't particularly physically strong, and her skills with magic are sub-par in relation to the other members of Magus Generation. However, her tactical skill and ingenuity leaves her a force to be reckoned with.

  • Wrench Wench: Bianca Martelli is a brilliant teenage inventor who definitely knows her way around machines.

  • Robot Buddy: Her "Younger Brothers" Moe & Curly are artificial intelligence inhabiting robotic arms. Her third "Sibling" is with her Mother.

  • Undying Loyalty: After reuniting with Eris, Bianca Became her sister in all but blood, and is willing to do anything for her.

  • Will They or Won't They?: Bianca develops a rapport with Yohei Rumia with some significant romantic tension. By the time she realizes these feelings, Yohei is hard at work with the Falconers.

  • Fun with Acronyms: Her name, Bianca Ophelia Orlena Martelli, is a reference to her first ability of Explosion Alchemy.

  • Motor Mouth: Bianca can rattle on about any topic that interests her, with her main subject being history. When nervous she'll also begin to ramble on.

  • Diagnosis of God: Bianca has been personally diagnosed by her creator, who confirmed that she has high-funtioning autism.

  • Misery Builds Character: Having her company and its assets seized, being expelled from Class 2-B, and learning plenty of earth shattering knowledge in her pursuit of the truth, Bianca will admit that a lot of it has been for the better.

  • Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Bianca's eccentric nature and constantly active brain makes her prone to non-sequiturs and sometimes zoning out of what she's supposed to be doing.

  • Powered Armor: Bianca's main tool in keeping up with her fellow members of Magus Generation. While somewhat flimsy and roughly made due to being created on the fly via alchemy, Bianca later builds her armor in earnest, creating a much sturdier and more permanent version.

Subaru Izanagi Kikami is an eccentric and spontaneous boy. Being a Living Sigil with the ability to turn into light, he is the light of Class 2-B, always providing optimism and hope to everyone. Adelsiya is very wellspoken and serious in nature, but she makes no effort to hide how ditzy she can be.

Eris Astoria was once a shy and sickly girl. Ill of an unknown disease, she went through life always following others. But after her illusion was broken by Kageaki Reichhart, she took her life into her own hands. Now the wielder of the legendary Galatine, this brash and brutish woman serves as Satoshi's right hand man in his rebellion.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dummy_16.png
  • Genius Ditz: Eris is a genius at Sigil crafting and can provide and make valuable strategies. Despite being brutish in combat, she's one of the most competent out there. But out of that, she's a complete ditz oftentimes making really stupid remarks and doing stupid actions.

  • Screaming Warrior: Eris goes into battle screaming or shouting. Sometimes this involves saying the names of her attacks out loud. The only reason why people aren't able to dodge her is because of how blindingly fast she is.

  • Super-Strength: After healing up from a particularly bad beatdown, Eris somehow got powerful enough to punch a cave so hard it collapsed on itself.

    Yohei Rumia

Yohei Rumia, The Emerald Shot

Yohei Rumia is a man filled with misfortune. One of the only survivors of a fire, he carries with him an eternal survivor's guilt.     Lucca Morgan

Lucca Morgan, The Crimson Noise

Lucca Morgan was a rebel down to his core. With a mental illness leaving him unable to inherit the role of Morgan Co, he was outcasted from school and made no friends. This spiraled down into him joining a mafioso. But after his illusion was broken by Kageaki Reichhart, he realized what he truly wanted. He now serves as Ikago Nomura's personal bodyguard, wanting to protect her as his life goal.

This Roleplay contains examples of:

  • Alternate History: Magus Generation actually takes place in the Correct Era. In the year of 2020, rather than the COVID-19 Pandemic, half of humanity was wiped out. Mages are the byproduct of that event.

  • Ancient Conspiracy: Certain people such as Orpheus' mother Anna Kuroda, Saruta Shinjou and Kyojaku Mikula seem awfully in the know about some kind of worldly conspiracy. They all know that they're not actually on Earth and the true nature of the Solars as manipulative dictators. They however are not cooperating together.

  • Artificial Limbs: Due to their advancements in technology, mechanical prosthetics are both real and widely available to the public.
    • Satoshi Haruno's left arm is a homemade prosthetic. He's gotten used to making them.
    • Yohei Rumia's right arm is also artificial. He was even given the title of "Metal Arm."
    • Bianca Martelli, having lost her left arm in a battle, had been given a new one by Satoshi.
    • Helios Nagamitsu was offered a replacement, but he declined in favor of a laser cannon...

  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: Cordelia Bersarius' family is filled with screw-ups, warlords and insane people all with their own agendas. Despite that, they all have one goal in common: to get rid of one of the 3 dominating factions, the Solars, the Silver Galaxy or Preaux no matter what.

  • Brown Note: Loop 1 Eris makes use of a chant that has the tendency to drive weak-willed Mages insane. Allison, before her untimely death, was actually corrupted by her chant.

  • Cast from Hit Points: Satoshi Haruno's Houken makes use of his own flesh and blood to attack. He only uses these attacks, labelled "Justices", when absolutely necessary.

  • Clones Are People, Too: In comparison to their Loop 1 counterparts, the MG cast all have enough noticeable differences that they can be considered different people. The only exclusion being Satoshi, who is scarily close to becoming just like his other self. Despite the fact that he has the most clones.

  • Dark Is Not Evil: Arsene Masamoto.

  • Destructive Saviour: The true history of the Muramasa, Arsene's blade, is that of the savior of the Blacken War. However it resulted in the deaths of an untold amount of Mages, leading it to be lost to history as to not incite more bloody battles.

  • Evil Versus Evil: The Silver Galaxy VS The Solars. Neither side seems like it'd be good for the world if they won.

  • Katanas Are Just Better: For some reason, two out of the five Legendary Swords are based off of katanas.

  • Love Makes You Evil: Although Romano Melaragno was motivated for the love of his family to turn back time, this led to the deaths of countless of innocent people.

  • Meaningful Rename: Loop 0 Kageaki decided to name his Oversoul between Morrin Ashikaga "Bois de Justice" to symbolize how he has finally reached unity with someone he never thought he'd understand.

  • Mini-Mecha: Ikago's Gunswalker barely sizes up to the other Cruxes, being only about six feet tall compared to the other ones which are roughly 3-5 meters tall.

  • Artificial Human: A whole secret city of them, actually. Artificial Humans are kept hidden because their discovery would end up starting World War III.

  • Art-Style Clash: Everyone's characters have different artists and artstyles. Even if they are the same character, like with Izanagi and his post timeskip design.

  • Title Drop: When Class 2-B is expelled, Yohei suggest to "take back this Magus Generation" for themselves.

  • War Is Hell: Just about every event that tackles a war always has a reminder of its horrors. Whether its how indiscriminately people can be killed in it or how it tears down cultures, war destroys without any sort of consideration.

  • Action Girl: The only non main cast members that don't actively participate in fights are Ikago and Cordlelia. The rest of the female cast are all fully capable of throwing hands and sometimes swords in Eris' case.

  • After the End: Magus Generation takes place after God razed and destroyed the world, with humanity fighting back. The truth of the story is, humanity caused their own downfall. "God" is a stand in for humanity's pride in thinking that they can surpass God by trying to make superior life. This led to the death of half of the population of mankind.

  • Mage Species: Only Mages can use magic. Ordinaries however cannot. It's later revealed that Ordinaries can gain the ability to use magic, becoming Demi-Mages through various means. Shortly after, it's also revealed that the magic Mages use refer to Sigils. Ordinaries can make use of Circulation and True Circulation, which means they can use supernatural abilities.

  • Utopia Justifies the Means: The Solar 7 hide and censor all news of war to try and keep the world in its utopian state. This however comes to an end when Satoshi Haruno's rebellion becomes too big just to censor and also due to Bianca Martelli's journalism blog which gained traction due to it.

  • Rooftop Confrontation: Satoshi Haruno has his first fistfight against Romano at the top of Romano's Mobile Colony. This however is not their final bout, as their real final battle takes place in the top floor of the Mobile Colony.

  • Science Fantasy: Science and magic are blended together and are hard to tell apart from each other in this world. This was actually why Mages were created in the first place, to bridge the gap between Earth's opposing forces of Magic and Science.
