Darth Wiki / DLD What Could Have Been

Go To

An Alternate Continuity Spin-Off of DLD.

The premise is simple; everything that was supposed to happen in D.L.D., but didn't, happens here.

Season 1
This series is Darker and Edgier, has a Minimalist Cast of characters that were gonna be added in D.L.D. but weren't, and features story arcs that never were.

The plot follows the D.L.D., along with their 3 friends, and their supernatural misadventures, which range from time travel to fighting evil demons.

Tropes used in this series:

  • Arc: First there's the "Trapped in the Blue Dimension arc", followed by the "Joe Trapped in the Past" arc, immediately followed by an arc in which D.L.D. & Co. have to defend their city from Lavaman, a cosmic being made from pure lava.
  • Darker and Edgier: Features Rape as Drama, Gorn, existential crisis, and so on.
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming:
    • Episodes have one word titles, for example; Zelda, Pastries, Blue, Lava, etc.
    • Episodes in the "Joe Trapped in the Past" arc have titles that when put together form a sentence:
      • Dear Friends
      • I'm Fine
      • It's Not So Bad Here
      • Love, Joe
  • Remake: The first several episodes are remakes of episodes from D.L.D..
  • The Slow Path: Joe has to take it when he ends up in 10 years in the past, which takes a toll on his mental health, but luckily, he has Kristy to help him.
  • What Could Have Been: The inspiration and basis behind the series.

Characters:

Season 2
This series consists of several story arcs in which Thompson travels through various alternate universes in his quest to save everybody who are stuck in the Demented Dimension.

  • Arc: These are the worlds Thompson visits and spends several episodes in while trying to get to everyone in the Demented Dimension:
    • The Blue Dimension
    • The Colorless World
    • The Musical World
    • Our (Live Action) World
    • The Opposite Sex Universe

Season 3
This season takes the different route that could have been taken in D.L.D. 's episode 120; namely, the one where Luke's death ray hits him, causing Dexter to hit him with a bringing-back-to-life ray, which splits Luke into two; his good half, which is dead, and his bad half, called Evil Luke. Also, school counselor Dickle is dead, which means Principal Peterson needs to find a replacement and Zoë is there too (this time, not transgender).

  • Came Back Wrong: Veronika revives Luke's dead half for Tina, which according to her, is now 90% alive, which is good enough for Tina to take Zombie Luke into her possession and do Black Comedy Rape on him.
  • Camp Gay: Sven Benny, Zoë's friend, whose campiness annoys all the other characters so much, they shoot him.
  • Conjoined Twins: The new school counselor Ann Eagle has a conjoined twin on her back, whom (which?) she hides with her backpack. Later on, Evil Luke separates them.
  • In Love with Love: Sally notes that Tina is in love with the concept of being in love, not Luke personally, which is why she's obsessed with Zombie Luke.
  • Literal Split Personality: Evil Luke, who describes himself as "all of Luke's flaws in one person".
  • Terrible Interviewees Montage: Principal Peterson's search for the new counselor goes like this, til she settles for Ann Eagle.
  • Anticlimax: Delibaretly used to solve all the plot threads; everything is resolved by Zoë beating up Evil Luke who even lampshades the anticlimactic finale.

Season 4
Back in 2009, I considered whether to make the series Darker and Edgier or Hotter and Sexier. I chose the latter.

This season explores what could have been had I chose the former. Thus there's lots of Gorn and the Cerebus Syndrome is in full effect.

  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Episodes are titled after their older counterparts, but translated in English or vice versa. For example:
    • I Evo Nje Opet - It's Her Again
    • Fantom u Kabini za Presvlacenje - Phantom of the Changing Booth
    • Frightday - Pet-AAA!-k
  • Remake: The episodes of this season are remakes of older episodes that would have been affected by the dark and edgy.
