Darth Wiki / DLD Old School

Go To

Another Spin-Off of DLD, this one not only an Alternate Continuity, but a Continuity Reboot.

Basically, it's D.L.D. started from scratch, from the very beginning, with some characters still intact. The drama, the relationships, the many changes, the new cast of characters introduced after episode 120 are now all gone. It's a clean slate for the plot and characters and a chance to start over.

Tropes:
General:
  • Comic-Book Time: This time the characters stay the age they are; the D.L.D., their friends and the S.G.T. are now permanently 14.
  • Gag Series: Now there's more focus on the humor rather than everything else.
  • Inspired by…: The Dylan Dog Old Boy edition, which uses a similar concept.
  • Lighter and Softer: With all the drama and relationships gone, it's become this.
  • Remake: Some episodes of this series are short remakes of episodes from the main series, with added Recycled Script.
  • Story Reset: The story now starting (kinda sorta) from the beginning.

Episode Specific:
  • Bad Humor Truck: The episode I Scream "Ice cream!" features a monster made of various types of ice-cream.
  • Class Trip:
    • Field Trip to Ded Mountain where the D.L.D. and their class are not only forced to go to the titular mountain with the S.G.T. and their class, but also have to deal with a monstrous creature.
    • Die, Snowman, Die!, in which a trip to a snowy mountain turns into a nightmare thanks to some Snowlems.
    • Gnaw Gnaw Gnaw Blecch!, which starts with a field trip to the glue factory, but the bus crashes, leaving the D.L.D. as the only survivors, who then encounter a family of cannibals, and things only go worse from there.
  • Crisis Crossover: In Ark Arc, a giant flood forces the D.L.D. and a bunch of cartoon characters to seek refuge on D.D.'s ark. What follows is that the cartoon characters interact with each other, like Peter Potamus and Panda bonding over their love for anime, or Marceline sucking the pink out of Dakota.
  • Easy Amnesia: In The Hot Doc, Dr. Apartheid suffers from this after an explosion. To mess with him, D.D. convinces him he's actually a teenage girl named Ashley. Hilarity ensues.
  • Flesh Golem: Sick Hospital has a crazy nurse that collects her patients' body parts and organs in order to make one of these. She even refers to herself as its mommy.
  • Giant Enemy Crab: Crab Comic has the D.L.D.'s summer vacation ruined not just by the League of Extraordinary Villains and their latest giant robot, but also a giant crab... that the League fights.
  • Hell Hound: In the episode Heckhound, in order to get money for Taylor Swift concert tickets, Luke becomes a dog walker for a demonic dog.
  • Musical Episode: Freakshow Musical: Groups and Duets Edition, in which we have these performances at a city-wide talent show:
    • D.D., Mee-mme and Lee-lee perform "Diva" by Beyonce.
    • Luke and Lisa perform "Everybody talks" by Neon Trees.
    • Tina with Sally and Gina performs "Try my love" by Oh Romeo.
    • The League of Extraordinary Villains perform "Superheroes" from The Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack.
  • "Scooby-Doo" Hoax: The titular Werewolf of Beaver Swamp turns out to be a crook in a costume.
  • Slaying Mantis: The Crazy Creature of Vulture's Ass has the D.L.D. investigate a case on Vulture's Ass island involving a giant mantis.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: A Running Gag in one episode has Sylvia appear out of nowhere and startling others.
  • Trapped in TV Land: Sweet, Sweeter, Sweetest has the D.L.D., Lisa and Ammy get sucked into the "Melissa in Candyland" online game.
  • Wizard Duel: The episode Zarry Mopper vs Mekrushka Redtrout is about the fight between the titular duo, one a Harry Potter parody, and the other a Discworld parody.
