SynthCool is an American YouTuber best known for his Skeet videos; he's since done other content.
His work contains examples of or references to:
- Adaptational Jerkass: Homer in "The Homer Show".
- Adaptational Personality Change: "Beter" Griffin is almost nothing like his show counterpart, aside from getting into situations with his friends. He's more an Unfazed Everyman who plays off his friends' eccentricities.
- Approval of God: Synthcool has complimented this very page.
- Author Appeal: 2000s cartoons and adult animation; especially Family Guy and The Simpsons.
- Ax-Crazy: Joe in "The Beter Show".
- Black Comedy Rape: Ben Shapiro's punishment for murdering the Joker in The Beter Show Episode 4.
- Boomerang Bigot: FamilyGuyFan420 is racist against minorities, but is himself half Hispanic.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: "I'm gonna say Roadhouse, just like Beter does!"
- Broken Pedestal: Beter Griffin to FamilyGuyFan420, when he punches Trump. He even adds a forlorn "No More!" To the end of his famous intro.
- Character Death: FamilyGuyFan420 died of the Coronavirus.
- Child Prodigy: FamilyGuyFan420 was going to be moved up three grades as a young child, before his dad intervened.
- Christmas Episode: A few:
- His review of "Holly Jolly Jimmy"
- The Beter Show 5
- The Synthcool Christmas Special
- Clear My Name: The plot of The Beter Show Episode 4. Ben Shapiro murders the Joker for suggesting the government provide Gamers with girlfriends (which according to him is socialism), and frames Beter.
- Crisis of Faith: Familyguyfan 420 has one when Peter Griffin punches Donald Trump.
- Deadpan Snarker: When he's not in character.
- Deal with the Devil: Mort makes a deal with Goofy to own a Burger King.
- Drama Bomb: Episode 1 of the Kick Butt Barney Haters mostly plays out like a story written by a 12-year-old in the the early 2000s who hates Barney Then Master Chief goes to visit his son despite his ex-wife's protests, said son blows him off, and he contemplates suicide. Luckily, Goku talks him out of it in the next episode.
- Egocentrically Religious: In "The Beter Show 3", Joe goes door-to-door to tell people about Jesus, and beats them when they refuse. This is proven to be more about Joe than the religion itself; when Jesus takes the victim's side Joe punches him too.
- Flanderization:
- Takes issue with Flanders being the Trope Namer.
- Does his purposefully to Homer Simpson in "The Homer Show", playing up his abrasive and selfish tendencies and downplaying his likability.
- Forced Meme: Parodied with "Martin Dad".
- The Generation Gap: Explored in the Griller Boomer series; the titular character and his wife lampoon the oblivious, materialistic Boomer generation; while their Gen X son Scotty is an angry keyboard warrior who dresses in camo and sees himself as a soldier against "libtards".
- Hair-Trigger Temper
- He-Man Woman Hater: Synthcool plays himself up as having similar "girls are icky" opinions to that of a stereotypical 10-year-old boy.
- He's Back!: FamilyGuyFan420 in "Beter is NOT a Libtard".
- He Who Must Not Be Seen: While he's posted his hands and torso, we haven't ever seen Synth's face.
- Heroic BSoD:
- Calling Adolph Alvaraz "heroic" is a HUGE stretch, but he is the Protagonist of his series and he definently had one after Beter punched Trump.
- Beter has one in Episode 4 of the Beter Show, where he tells the angry mob to go ahead and kill him because he's tired of acting like a clown who repeats the same jokes over and over to make middle-schoolers laugh.
- Hilariously Abusive Childhood: Young Adolph Alvaraz is raised by an abusive, alcoholic neo-Nazi whose treatment and teachings make him an emotionally-stunted social outcast. It's funnier than it sounds.
- In Name Only: His "Anime Character Reviews" are of characters from every form of media BUT anime.
- Insane Troll Logic: FamilyGuyFan420 rationalizes that Beter "isn't a libtard" for punching Trump because Trump is the REAL libtard for not starting a Race War.
- Insufferable Genius: Jimmy Neutron is called out for being one.
- Jesus Was Way Cool: Jesus shows up to tell Joe to take it down a notch.
- Mean Character, Nice Actor: Synthcool plays characters like FamilyGuyFan420 and portrays himself as an angry guy prone to rants, but in his serious reviews and "Synthcasts" (where he mostly acts like himself) he comes across as a reasonable, nice dude who's just a little sarcastic.
- Morality Pet: Synth is usually a Caustic Critic who bashes the content he makes videos about, but he comes to Fred's defense against "Fred haters".
- No Indoor Voice
- Noodle Incident: Welcome to Mooseport's father and sister both reference reasons they lost their job, but Welcome to Mooseport leaves before we get the full context.
- N-Word Privileges: Synth believes that Harold McGrady has them.
- Politically Incorrect Hero: Joe Swanson in "The Beter Show" is very antisemitic.
- Psychopathic Manchild: A common archetype in his videos; FamilyGuyFan420, Scotty Grillbert, and Tanner, Destroyer of Barney come to mind.
- Straight Man: Beter is relaxed and monotone compared to the weird things that happen around him.
- Refuge in Audacity: Synthcool's bread and butter.
- Small Name, Big Ego: Scotty Grillbert claims to be a badass soldier and a "real man"... in reality, he's a creep and not a soldier at all but a prison security guard.
- Strawman Political:
- Mr. Grillbert is a jab at political centrists; who says such things as "Climate change is a real problem. I just think we should do something about it next century." and agrees with completely opposing viewpoints while flipping channels. His son is a malajusted MAGA chud who thinks comparing a guy who asks him not to smoke by a gasoline pump to a soyjack is a badass victory for the culture war.
- Parodied in "The Kick Butt Barney Haters". Barney and his friends are portrayed as a "legion of liberals" who want to force kids to do homework and eat veggies. The only thing that really stands out as politically "liberal" about them is that they're saved by former First Lady Michelle Obama.
- Stylistic Suck: A lot of the "shows" on the channel are done either as purposefully bored and low-effort or in the style of a mid-2000s Youtube video.
- Straw Misogynist: Most of his characters are to some degree. He acts like one as well but he's (probably) joking.
- Theme Naming: FamilyGuyFan420, CleavelandShowFan420, DaleErnhartFan420, BarneyHater420, BobsBurgersFan420; the list goes on. In some videos the username ends in "-Fan69".
- Unfazed Everyman: Beter Griffin.
- Ungrateful Bastard: For all his flaws, Mr. Grillbert openly loves his son and gives him a place to sleep when he's put out. Scotty's response when his dad says I love you? "Ew, gay!"
- Working-Class Hero: Skeet.
- Yuri Fanboy: His Archie reviews almost always end with detailed Betty X Veronica fanfiction.
